So I am one of those who have whitescreen issue, and I tried cm10.1 07/07 build and it was very smooth, so I decided to make it my daily rom.
However there were things missing. First of all, there was no radio, Wifi tethering was not working, and there was no nfc. Not to mention the old CM sources.
So I used the sources in theWhisp's github (awesome work there!! Thank him!) and I build CM 10.1 reverting the commit that caused whitescreen and adding all those missing features, with the sole purpose of making a fully working CM 10.1 ROM.
Thus I made this ROM with kernel 2.6.38.6.
What's Working:
Pretty much everything. Just to mention some things..
-FM Radio.
-Wifi/Bluetooth tethering
-Bluetooth A2DP
-No white screen (as it uses old drivers)
-NFC (after second boot).
-Native camera and native camcorder.
-Ril
-GPS
-Offline Charging
-BLN support (use third party apps like "BLN control" to activate)
Known Problems:
-Deep sleep does not work when Bluetooth is turned on. So turn it off when you don't use it. (Only for 21/03/2014 build and later)
So all in all it seems to be pretty close to a fully working rom.
Many Thanks to theWhisp for his work (I used his sources) and his precious help!
Tips (Please read before fllashing):
-After ROM boots for first time, do the setup (enter account and such) and then DO A REBOOT! This could save you from 2 of the 4 of the below tips, and perhaps save me from questions about battery drain issues due to NFC.
-Trebuchet (the default launcher) might present some graphical glitches. I haven't notice that in any other launcher, so perhaps it is Trebuchet only problem. Perhaps you want to use another launcher..
-Wifi IP address will be the same after the second time you enable wifi. So when booting for first time you might want to disable wifi and re-enable it (or do a reboot ).
-For NFC users, after flashing ROM and booting for first time, you won't be able to turn NFC off. So don't try to do so. Instead, after first boot, do a reboot and everything should be fine.

I guess I could fix the BT problem, but I have no problem with deep sleep. :/ Perhaps you could find what app keeps your device awake?
Thank you so mutch for doing this !! 5star from the start!

Sometimes apps stop working, trebuchet become very slow band then crash. Also lockscreen sometimes lags.
I dont know if it is my problem, if you could fix it, explane me how to do it
Edit:
I dont know why, but with max notifications volume, whatsapp doesnt notice me messages.

Sorry to hear that. I don't have such problems though.. And I don't know if I could fix them, although I'll try.
@portagira perhaps you could try wipe data/cache, wipe dalvik, wipe /system and then flash rom (and perhaps gapps too..)
The ROM is perfect smooth and stable and I never have a problem while using it just A2DP doesn't work any thing else is pretty cool

All benchmarks aside the N5 is in my opinion the best and the fastest
I've been trying to make it as fast as possible using different ROM / kernel / tweak combos.
Currently satisfied with Carbon ROM , Elemental X .34 , various build.prop tweaks , and custom sysctl / ram management tweaks using trickster mod & ROM toolbox pro.
Does anyone have any performance tweaks that can help me make my phone even faster ? Is there a way to use "fastboot" option like HTC devices ?
My fastest cold boot to lock screen time is 15.3seconds but I want shorter boot times xD
In using latest carbon ROM nightly, minimal gapps, dalvik opt zip. Latest GPU drivers.
Here are my build.prop tweaks :
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
debug.composition.type=1
debug.egl.hw=1
debug.sf.hw=1
debug.performance.tuning=1
video.accelerate.hw=1
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=300
pm.sleep_mode=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
ro.ril.fast.dormancy.rule=0
persist.sys.shutdown.mode=hibernate
ro.config.hw_quickpoweron=true
ro.max.fling_velocity=30000
ro.min.fling_velocity=20000
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
ro.kernel.checkjni=0
profiler.force_disable_err_rpt=1
profiler.force_disable_ulog=1
ro.config.nocheckin=1
dalvik.vm.execution-mode=int:jit
ro.mot.eri.losalert.delay=1000
debug.sfbootcomplete=0
persist.sys.purgeable_assets=1
persist.sys.use.dithering=0
ro.wmt.blcr.enable=0
dalvik.vm.debug.alloc=0
Can anyone provide me with anymore ?
And so far the most free ram I've been able to come up with -.- on my old galaxy nexus with slim bean I had only 112mb being used but I forgot how I achieved that.

*list will be updated, I use ROM toolbox pro for all this stuff with the built in app manager. You can use any root explorer and go to /system/apps and manually delete or use titanium backup etc.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you use and what you don't. I've had 0 force closes with these removed!
I'd like to know your setups , and tips, and tweaks if any

Some do nothing , some drain the battery, some actually force the GPU to do what's accessible via Dev settings. And others help my phone boot faster , stock boot time for me is 25seconds. Carbon boot time for me is 19seconds, with all the settings and stuff I've changed its now 15 seconds, some people call it placebo, but if you actually time it , and test them individually you can see effects whether negative or positive

Which BTW, is there anyways to implement a "hibernation" mode like the HTC fastboot option ? On the nexus 5 or other non HTC devices ...
Is your device stable at 3.0ghz? I can only get mine up too 2.88 without any random reboots. -.- I don't think a change of kernel will help would it ? I'll try trinity which is what you're using correct?

Is yours on the stock voltage for that freq? Would you mind sharing the voltage if its not .
And my favorite prop tweaks are the min/max fling + window mngr because they make scrolling oh so smooth!

I'll have to check the thread then , trinity B10 didn't work for me on Latest Carbon nightly , maybe I either roll back to a previous nightly or previous trinity build
Edit : just found the hybrid anykernel T5B10 build. Will give trinity another go with carbon and see how things pan out over the next few hours ?

I tried the normal b10 again, same issues. Just finished flashing carbon and the hybrid version of b10, and I can confirm it's working! Carbon ROM has traces of both AoSP and CAF , so normal trinity b10 was causing problems. This one is working though I can say I'm really missing the "cooler colors" of elemental ...

Hi,
I would say... delete all the additional lines on your build.prop (I mean the ones you added). Most of them does nothing at all or they are worse or have side effects. Search on Google for each line and see the first/second page and you will see for what device it is made for (and the date of the threads...) then you will understand. remember you are on Kit Kat, thes tweaks were good (at least) on Gingerbread, maybe ICS but that's all... There are also some threads about these lines, tested and examinated in Android code source.
You will have better results by tweaking the CPU governor and i/o scheduler you are using. VM settings are good too but you will need a few days of tests to see what is right or wrong.
I tested a lot of build.prop edits (and like you I added a bunch of them), like the ones you posted and other ones floating around on XDA in some threads in the General Android forum..., I always delete all these lines, there is always something wrong at some time.
Keep your build.prop clean (well one or two are useful, I speak mainly about all the "performance" tweaks like all the "debug about the GPU/dalvik...." lines, same thing for the scrolling tweaks )
You will see if you really tested that, at least, all is same as before even without all these tweaks in general UI. In fact, like you said, one line does the same thing as the "Disable HW overlays" in Developer options.
Even some "devs" add these lines in their roms..., but well, urban legends and placebo effects are "solid"...
Yeah some lines do nothing , and I will clean up my build.prop but I'm keeping a few lines , like fling velocities, power collapse, nobootanimation.
And yeah I know what you mean about them being outdated, had those exact lines since 4.0.3 on my vzw gnex especially then I noticed big differences in over all performance. Whether they apply now or not, just got used to it I guess.
Revised build.prop :
debug.sf.nobootanimation=1
windowsmgr.max_events_per_sec=300
pm.sleep_mode=1
ro.ril.disable.power.collapse=0
ro.ril.fast.dormancy.rule=0
ro.max.fling_velocity=30000
ro.min.fling_velocity=20000
ro.kernel.android.checkjni=0
ro.kernel.checkjni=0
ro.config.nocheckin=0
ro.mot.eri.losalert.delay=1000
Edit: reusing the quick power on line
Without it carbon booted in 20.3 seconds
With it carbon booted in 18seconds.
Will see if hibernate line has any effect. Or the sf.bootcomplete line (which is supposed to show lock faster) Little to no difference is still a difference after all !
My Nexus 5 boots in 10 seconds without any build.prop modifications
I haven't seen anyone post any easy debloat script, so here is my personal one for N8. This is made for OREO - but it will work for Nougat-based ROMs too, as long as the file names haven't been changed. This could also work well for S8, S9 and other samsung-phones, as the file names are usually the same.
Oh, it also removes "liboemcrypto.so" from system/lib - so you wont have any problem using Netflix.
Install instructions:
Install your preferred ROM.
Boot up your phone for the first time. This might not be necessary, but I did experience some problems with SystemUI crashing when I didn't boot up the phone between flashing.
Reboot into revovery and flash .zip
All done! No need to wipe dalvik/cache, but do as you wish

This script is provided "as is", and I will not be updating it, unless:
You find some bug caused by removal of a specific app
A new samsung base contains new apps or upated app names
There are more apps that can be safely removed, not causing SystemUI or other crashes
You can easilly modify the script to your own liking:
Open the zip-file in WinRAR or any other archiver
Browse to updater-script
Open updater-script in Notepad++ (do NOT use microsoft notepad or wordpad!)
Edit the lines to your liking
Save the file, and confirm that you want to update the zip archive.
Which apps are NOT removed?
Calendar
Camera
Chrome
Clock
Galaxy Apps (app store)
Gallery
Google
Contacts
Messages
Phone
Play store
Samsung Notes
Thanks! Will try this tonight.
As yoy have removed many apps, could you or anyone create scripts also for sabs?
Many haven't root and use jt for debloating.

Sorry, I have personally never used or looked into SABS, and never felt the need to do so. Simply deleting apps with root access (as I alwats root my devices) has always been my way of debloating. I will not be making scripts for SABS now - maybe in the future if I descide to not root a future phone..
Great list. I have the same script for my note8. I create it before 5 months for personal usage. You dont have remove the problematic apps who make phone stuck. Looks good and safe. I try yours too to see how is going.
PS: The script works but before works he drop dead my phone with black screen and nonthing works. I know all the button combination and how to open the dead note 8 phones. But If someone dont know the button combination can loose his phone for ever. Only 1 compination works he need to press volume down and power on for 15 seconds and the phone will open again. Looks dangerous i dont recommend it for the users. Better to close the thread and before post test the scripts. S8, S9 have big difference in the codes.

The script itself has nothing to do with your phone hanging in black screen, this is just something that happens with custom roms sometimes. It happens more often if you have custom kernels or exposed installed.
The vol- / power button combination is a hard restart function implemented by Samsung to force restarts of the phone when needed, as in your case. It is perfectly safe to reboot he phone this way, the phone vill never be damaged by it. If you don't, the phone will eventually shut off when the battery is emptied, and you can boot again upon charging, nothing worse can never happen.
Wish there was something like this but for stock with package disabler.
I have flashed this on 2 different rooms and it's worked perfectly everytime,
Thanks for your time and effort to put this together for us all to use. :good:

It's explained in the OP.. However I would not recommend removing other apps (except for maybe calendar, galaxy apps and samsung notes), as it would cause SystemUI crashes. Google and Chrome for instance are needed by various system settings.

Root is not required, but custom recovery (TWRP) is. No OTA as updater-apps are removed.

You can try, if things should get messy with force closes or other bugs, just reflash your rom (dirty flash) and you're back on track
Thanks for this efex - worked well so far on my n950f duos. Haven't had any issues with force closes or anything yet.
Works perfect on a3 2017 oreo (sm-a320FL)
Edit: i found one bug i can't change clock style in lokscreen

What I did was, launch google play store app through google assistant, then type in fluid navigation gestures and install. Then turn on navigation within the app. Or simply go to magisk app and uninstall under modules, reboot, and once you have the fluid navigation gestures set up try again. It shouldn't break anything else. Fingerprint works and same for safetynet. I am on stock rom and kernel with magisk.

Thank You very much for the Reply!
The Fluid Navigation workaround is needed since any ROM breaks since Pie when i add content to the System. Especially when i add Folders to priv-app. Same happens with the Systemless way i use right now. I think it has something to do with the Permission handling of Pie Systems but i found nothing in the Web yet...
I'm really looking forward to push the App within the Patch, with the Option to keep the default Navigation Bar while installing (Volume Key Selector Method). For now do we have to do it like You said. The easiest way will be to setup Fluid Navigation Gestures before installing the Module. Only Important will be that You don't use the Navbar Hide from within the App (Causes missing space on the bottom of the Display). I also talked to the App Creator to make the Setup more easy, think it will just be a matter of time till we can use it without additional (user) efforts...
There is a lot to come with the next Versions. Hope You will like it

I wouldn't call it "Mod", but no. You can use the default Navigation bar by changing qemu.hw.mainkeys=1 to qemu.hw.mainkeys=0 on the System Prop from the Patch, or You can wait for the Update which contains Options for that. I'm currently working on AROMA to include also Busybox and Magisk to deliver the full ROM/Patch Package. AROMA will also allow Me to give Users more choices about what will be flashed. It's everything just in a early phase.

OK, cool
The info post is a little bit misleading is this only for pixel devices? Or for any device bit Snapdragon 835+ if yes can I use it with my Xiaomi mi 8 (Snapdragon 845)?

It's made for Android close to AOSP Pie. Miui could cause conflicts with the given Configs (Audio, Camera or even Bootloops). Snapdragon 835 should be the minimum based on the given Quality Settings. Older SoCs may face missing Audio, lags or other Problems. That how i keep it since the Nexus 6. Every new SoC and Android Version needs new Configs which may not work on older Ones. Hope that explains it better

Looking forward to this, it could really be a new way to flash roms in the future. Great job :good:

Can't you just read his previous detailed reply?
Edit: bamboozled myself by not reading the next reply and in fact it is possible. oopsie :silly: Just because of the searchbar vertical margin on the Pixel homescreen, I prefer to use the OG navbar as well. Otherwise Fluid NG are dope.

OG Navbar huh? Is it from the maker of OG Insta lol?
Options for the Navbar will be no Problem with the next release. I found out why ROMs bootloop with new Apps in priv-app:

HI, just downloaded the rom and so far so good. Just one thing, how do you change the dark mode so it will be black and not grey? Can it be downloaded in the themes? Really like the full black dark mode.
Edit: I also can't seem to find the game tools option in the advanced features. Is it not included in the rom? It would be nice to add it next version.

So far so good, I really like that different kind of theme. Battery seems pretty good too, but at first performance wasn't too good, tho after settling in it seems pretty nice and stable.
