Battery Won't Charge - AT&T Samsung Galaxy S 5

My S5 has been working fine. Tonight I was plugging it in to charge for the night and when I connected the charger it said USB connected but the battery symbol didn't show charging. I looked in the battery stats in settings, it says Not Charging. I powered the phone off, pulled the battery, replaced it and plugged it back in. Now it's showing a battery with a yellow triangle in it instead of the normal charging symbol.
Does anyone have any ideas? I am rooted and I have Safe Strap installed. Right now I'm running the stock ROM.

i have had that happen before, it turned out to be a faulty nfc chip in the battery causing the problem, (yes go figure they put the NFC chip in the battery)

Well........ Just keep charging for 1 -2 hours. do not try to switch on the device. if it doesn't help, try with different charger.

Just plug it in for 1 hour then try reebooting
I had this problem. What it was for me was the micro usb dock on the phone was bent downwards and out of place. To fix it I put in the cable and bent it back. I do not exactly recommend it but it was a quick fix for me.

mysteriously dead IncS

Yesterday my phone shutted because my battery, I connected to my car and charged a while, I got out from charging and using 2-3 minutes more and battery died again. When I got home I connected it to AC power and powered on, It was working without problem. I left my phone maybe 1 hour charging and when I took it again it was dead: screen dead, no life signal, just the led blinking slowly when connected to power (either AC and USB)...tried to take off battery but nothing. Today I connected it to PC and windows has recognized it but cannot identify it (on the PC the classic USB device not recognized error with yellow triangle on top) and the led is always blinking.
Any idea? should I have to buy a new phone?
thanks
Sounds like your battery is dead. Try replacing your battery

Try Running some POST tests. As in, Power off your device and wait for few seconds. Then Press and hold your power key and your volume down key. You should be able to access your Bootloader. (If you have Rooted your device, you could access your recovery and clear the battery stats although your device's condition seems peculiar/critical). Its worth a shot If you ask me.
I have already tried it but nothing, cleared dalvik and battery stats..I cannot understand whats going on. Now phone is working again but it cannot maintain battery, I mean I kept it in charge all the night but when I power on the phone it shuts down just when it starts android (thats strange because I went to a store yestarday and tried a new battery but it didn't worked, when got home I tried to power on it again and it started)...this is driving me crazy!!
edit: I turned it on, plugged in AC charger and phone after some minutes told me that (I don't remember the exact message) power needed by the phone is more than the charger could provide...
edit2: now it is on and it is charging (USB) and it doesn't charge more than 21%...really strange
Odd that this hasn't been mentioned but perhaps try a different usb cable? Different port? Seems obvious but you never know. Cables can deteriorate.

Ok maybe here is a solutions:

[Q] New battery question

Can anyone suggest why my battery is discharging while still connected to the charger when the phone is on?
I just put a brand new, original Samsung battery in my GT-N7000. With the phone switched off, I charged it for about 12 hours until it showed 100%.
I then switched the phone on without disconnecting it from the charger (USB hub on my PC) and noticed the charge percentage gradually going down - 98, 95, 94, 93 ... etc. If I don't use the phone but just leave it switched on, the rate of discharge is slower. It's now at 90%.
Is it supposed to behave like this or does this suggest a faulty battery? I assumed that the phone would behave similar to a laptop - ie the battery would continue charging even if I'm using it.
Thanks in advance

EDIT
I just replaced the original (old) battery which had about 6% left in it and this is behaving the same. It's now down to 5% with the phone on charge but switched on.
Try to plug directly to your charger instead of a USB hub, it's most likely under powered. I dont think its got to do with some apps running on the background.

You were right on the nail! A dedicated charger worked fine.
Seems my powered USB hub wasn't working for some reason. I checked the power supply and there's 5.1 VDC coming out of it so I plugged it back into the hub, changed the phone over to a different USB port and generally fooled around and now it seems fine again. Dirty connection maybe.
Many thanks.

Soft Brick?

I was flashing my Xperia T with flash tool and there was an error. Now I can't turn on my phone. The red led is blinking while trying to power it on. Vol up + power on also doesn't work (red led blinkinking). When connecting to pc flashtool stops on "For 2011 devices line, be sure you are not in MTP mode". What can I do?
First try to charge it for a few hours to see if it comes back, then you can try to repair via PC Companion or flash again

Already tried that and it's the same.
Yur battery is empty. You need to recharge. So open phone take battery out and charge it external. When battery is full just flash normal.
That is the reason why you should only flash if battery > 50%

He has a T so the battery is not removable....(Not without difficulty anyway)
Just leave it plugged in for several hours, or even better overnight. That should do it, and if it does not, then try and remove the battery
Now the red led is switching on/off every few minutes while on charger.
Just leave it it will boot soon

I have opened the back cover, disconnected the battery and after few minutes i have put the phone on charging. Red light appeard but after a while it went off again so i have measured the voltage. It's going from around 3.08V (red led off) to about 3.25V (red led on) and after that point red led is off, the battery is discharging and the process starts again. What can I do?
when did you do this?
Did you follow the advice above? In all cases I have heard of this leaving the phone on charge for 24 hours has fixed it. Plug it in, leave it alone, come back tomorrow and try to turn it on. (Maybe even hole power and volume up together untill it vibrates 3 times and then turn on)
Yes, I was charging it more than 24h and it was the same. I think I need to charge the battery external.
give it a go, and if you have the battery off you may even try and change it.
Thats what i told you. You cannot leave it charging. Chargemon is a software which can only start idf ROM is ok.
Just takr out battery and buy a cheap chinese external charger. I know R has builtin battery but it is no problem at all.
You REALLY have to charge it with external charger or another Phone with working software

I've followed the instructions but my battery is flat. It's charging to 3,25V and that's all.

It's already charging. I have experience in electronics so it wasn't a problem Now I need to check the voltage as not to overcharge.

[Q] Charger turns off at 100% but does not turn back on?

We live in the country and use the Bionic for data. The setup is the Bionic, Mobil Hotshot, Plugged into charger.
The Device will charge to 100% and then stop charging, the charger is still connected. We continue to download data and the battery charge keeps dropping but the charger will not turn back on. At some point if I don't catch it, the device will totally discharge and shut down. I can unplug the charger and plug it back in to get the charging to restart but once it reaches 100% it will turn off again. We have been using this setup for almost 2 years and this issue began after the JB OTA.
Anybody have a fix? Have the same problem?
Thanks for the help ahead of time.
Steve
What charger and cable are you using. I keep my bionic in an ihome dock at night and do pretty much the same thing, streaming XM most of the night and it doesn't do that. I don't use moto chargers or cables as they seem to have some funky behaviors programmed into them

I am using a Novatel Wireless charger. I think it was sent to me by Verizon as an replacement charger.
