I have no bluetooth tether option on my phone and tried using easy tether to try and get a internet connection but it doesn't connect. For the guys who don't have a bluetooth tether option on your phone how are you guys connecting to the internet using the gear?
Have a search. Been answered a heap of times. There is an included xposed module that you can use to achieve internet connection

How can I tether the phones wifi connection without using bluetooth is there an app that does this?
i believe that is not possible to do. pretty sure there are no apps for that.
Use this to tether your wifi connection to your laptop (if your laptop doesn't have a wifi card). This app tethers via usb cable, not wireless like anetshare and wifitether. (If you're trying to connect wirelessly to your phone to get the phone's wi-fi connection, then you're just weird)

Hi there, Can anybody help me? I have researched making my G1 a wireless tether for my laptop and d/l from code.google.com/p/android-wifi-tether. However the youtube clip shows a laptop with bluetooth which I don't have! Any suggestions? Many thanks!
PDA-NET app is a great way to do it if your phone is not rooted, look for it in the marketplace its free
Wireless tether doesn't have to use bluetooth, it can send wi-fi. It's in the settings.
Hi, my phone is rooted! Can you suggest any walkthroughs for wifi setup not bluetooth? Many thanks!
Wifi Tether Walkthrough:
1. Download Wifi Tether for Root Users
2. Run it.
I imagined Wireless Tether would function a particular way but I had no luck.
I launched the app and the attempted to scan for wireless access points with my device, a PS3. The PS3 will not detect the phone as a wireless access point. Is this just the way it is or is it a limitation with wireless tether and/or the ps3?
thank you thank you
Since I don't know what the PS3 can actually connect to I will just say this. The wireless tether app runs ad-hoc. If your device can connect to ad-hoc networks then you can connect to it.
ive got the ad-hoc party on ps3, ima try that...thanks
edit: also, the wireless tether for root doesnt connect to wifi networks, only 3g data?
Just wondering if there is a way to tether to a computer with a wired connection to get Internet connection that way, instead of using wifi??? There is lots of apps and stuff that need to connect to the internet to download, but I dont have the wifi's at home.
And if not, is it a hardware limitation, or software???
as far as i know there is no way to get internet to your phone through usb cable.
you can probably work around it if you have a laptop wired to the internet or a wifi stick. you should be able to setup a hotspot through windows to share your wired connection over wifi.
If you are on Froyo, it is built in.
If you are on Eclair, use Acer EasyLink:
(credits to navygino on MoDaCo for figuring everything out):
1) Download & install this program, http://global-download.acer.com/GDF...uid&Step3=Liquid&OS=A01&LC=en&BC=Acer&SC=PA_6
(I did this on Vista) Device Manager-->Modem-->Acer Android Modem-->Advanced-->enter the sting: +CGDCONT=1,”IP”,”apn name”
2) Open the Acer EasyLink software
3) Go to Settings
-The number is just *99#
-Make sure everything else is correct
Ohhhh sorry thats for wired tethering, using your mobile network on your computer.
As far as using your computers wired connection, I have no clue.
i know that monoxide.tryst is probably gone but for anyone else.
if you want internet on your device you can share your wired network to your phone if you have a laptop/wireless adapter.
Windows 7
go to "network and sharing center"
>on the left "Manage Wireless Networks"
>>click "Add"
>>>"Create an ad hoc network"
>>>>Put in SSID and Security code
>>>>>"next" and then select "Share my internet Connection"
This will setup a wireless hotspot from your laptop/adapter using your wired internet connection. Which then you can use your phone to connect too.
Can anyone help me figure out how to enable internet sharing via bluetooth? I'm running a rooted phone. Wifi tether works fine now after rooting, but I still get the message stating I have to purchase a package if I want to use the bluetooth connection. Any ideas? Is there a rooted app that might bypass this? I'm trying to connect to the Parrot Asteroid car stereo using a bluetooth tether by using a rooted connection. I saw Open Garden, but it looks like both units need to connect to each other in order to work. I'm not sure if the Parrot can get Open Garden installed on it.
