[Q] So, no KitKat, now what? - Sony Xperia T, TL, TX, V

So, my lovely Xperia T has now reached it's sell by date. What to do now?
What possibilities is there to extend the life of this wonderful phone?
I have the problem that my model is the James Bond version and the boot loader is not unlockable so my options are limited.
What do you guys suggest, is it still possible to get a custom ROM installed or for that matter any kitkat based ROM?

I know that on Xperia S now it's possible to install CM with the bootloader still locked.
Maybe the same method could work with our T.
We need a skilled guy with the will to try...

T-Mobile XZ is locked bootloader so u cannot unlock it.
cause in standard method of xperia unlocking u should get unlocking code from sony but they won't send it to C6606

I have already a custom recovery (I think its like in OMAP devices like Moto Dx2 or Razr XT910-912), so my question is if I can flash customs roms and if every rom on developers section is compatible...
So u can first flash custom boot loader and then try custom kernel and rom
But it s better to ask rom developer that u wanna install it

What?
1. There is no such thing as a "custom boot loader" for the Z.
2. Custom kernels will not run on a locked bootloader. Flashing one via recovery will soft brick the device.
To answer the original question, you should be able to flash any stock based custom rom on the C6606. I'm not sure on how it will affect LTE, but I've seen quite a few people around the forums using custom roms on the C6606.

Odd way to unlock bell xperia z or t-mobile xperia z bootloader?

Hey guys,
I own both the bell version of the xperia z, and the T-Mobile version. I ONLY want to use them as glorified tablets. Basically like the Ipod touch version of the iPhone, I want to use them unactivated. For me, its all about customibility and I really want to unlock the bootloader. I know neither of these can be unlocked, but in theory, if i wrote the software of the global unlockable versions (c6602/c6603) which DO allow for unlocked bootloader, would I be able to do it? I know signal would be screwy with the radios, but i dont care since thats irrelevant to me. Any help would be great, thanks guys.

Short answer: Never going to happen.
So its impossible to write c6602/3 software to it? Longer answer would be nice : P

Sorry, you can't unlock the bootloader if a device says: "bootloader unlock allowed: no" which is if you have a branded device. If you try it, you'd better throw it away.
If u can root everything is possible. As long as there's someone who provide geeky solutions
And under your situation u don't need flash different rom as there's a way to install recovery without unlocked bootloader in rooted phone.

hey, thanks a ton for the responses guys! So, is there ANY possible way I can get cyanogenmod installed on either my c6616 or c6606? (Bell and t-mobile)w
I don't have your phones so I cannot guaranty but you can try my method.
I got a c6603 from vodafone, and use ota to update to 4.3.
Since the 4.3 cannot root and I dont want unlock bl. so I use these steps
1. downgrade phone by flashtool to a version which can be rooted.
2. root
3. install recovery in locked BL:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xpe...cked-bootloader-cwm-recovery-6-0-2-8-t2187363
4. Choose whatever rom you like and flash it.
DONE!
You cannot use custom kernels on a locked bootloader, so you cannot run CM, PA, AOSP etc.
Stock based roms only. There's no way around it.

Awesome tips guys! Got recovery working and its all good- just ONE last thing:
are there any vanilla style roms out there like cyanogen that are stock based? I just want my pure android with some nice customizable features, no kernel updates or anything. Can you suggest any?

2015- Still no engineering for Bootloader Unlocking?

I own the Xperia SP since 2013. I recently got a Galaxy S6. The issue with the Xperia SP I had was like many others, even after Carrier Unlock, the bootloader unlocked allowed remained No. Hence I was very limited to the ROMs I can use. We don't even have Lollipop stable enough for daily use. UBL right now has Marshmallow and also Cyanogenmod Nightlies which I would like to try out on my Xperia before I root my Galaxy S6.
So do we have any updates for SP users to be able to unlocked the bootloader? I mean neither Sony nor carriers support the device anymore, they should allow us to play with it now, no?
Please post any updates here
i agree they should tell us how to unlock it as no -one supports it anymore
I read somewhere (i realy dont recall where) that sending your phone to sony so they can unlock the device for you. is possible.....
Any news ?

Any 5.x ROM for Locked-Bootloaders

Hi,
My Xperia SP has a locked bootloader, and cannot be unlocked.
I have rooted the device already.
I am looking for a ROM which is Android 5.0 or above, which I can use on a locked bootloader.
I saw VanirAOSP but that looks to no longer be available, the 5.1..1 download link just hangs.
Appreciate if anyone can advice me of one.
Also, I do need the camera and the phone to be working, I was reading on some Cynogenmod based ones but read that the phone didn't work, which would be no use to me.
Thanks

Which custom firmware works well with the XZ1 Compact version of Docomo?

Hello everyone! I have such a question here. Which custom firmware is best to install on my XZ1 Compact Docomo version? (SO-02K) Which one works the most stable? I chose custom firmware, because I will not be able to flash my SO-02K on G8841 firmware.
Been wondering that myself recently, it seems HavocOS is the way to go. Here a user described flashing it on his SO-02K.
Haven't attempted it yet but that's my goal don't see much of a point spending some $30 unlocking my model's hardlocked bootloader, so provisionally settled for manual debloating with a yucky but functional ADB AppControl. Who knows, maybe a free un(hard)locking solution will become available soon or a compatible Android 12 ROM will get a release and then I might cave.
