[Q] Battery issue - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

My battery drains normally until about 30% then the phone switches off without warning and will not switch on again until I connect it to a charger. Well it does switch on but shuts itself down before completely booting.
After connecting to a charger, it then reports it has 1% battery and is charging.
I'm guessing there is some issue with the battery calibration, how do I fix this?
Any help appreciated.

I use this one, but your phone must be rooted in order to be able to use it https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.nema.batterycalibration

I have tried this app TWICE, issue now worse, shutting off around 50%

I never had any issues with that app, but try hardware calibration then. The battery calibration starts with the phone completely off. The steps are as follows: Charge the device for at least 10 minutes using the original charging cable in a wall outlet. With the device powered off while still plugged into the wall outlet, press and hold the volume up, volume down and power button for two full minutes. Use three fingers to hold these buttons and do not let go at any time. They will be held in at the same time for this to work. After two minutes, you can let go. At this point, the device should boot up and battery/charging logic will be re-calibrated.

Doesn't matter. It's important only to keep your phone on charge at least 10 minutes.

Hey Guys,

The homebutton is flashing from left to right... Home + Power button dont work. Sometimes if I do the trick "cable in, power and homebutton holding, cable out still holding" came the battery with the question mark for 0,5 seconds... Is it dead?...
Charger is hp original. Cable not.

No it's not dead. We're lucky, the tp is hard to kill, thanks to webos .
Charge the tablet to 100%. Use the wall charger. If you have a touchstone, you can use that too.
You might have to leave it charging for 24 + hours.
Once charged, hold power and volume up buttons together till you get the screen with the usb symbol. Once you have that, follow this guide: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1426244
It's a pita, but it works. If you have a problem with novaterm, there's a good workaround on page 12.
Good luck.
Thanks for your answer. How I can know if my tp is fully charged?
And the combination dont work. No reaction.

You have to let it charge for a long time. It takes a real long time to recharge after it's gone to empty.
Make sure the charger is alright (sometimes all it needs is a twist to set it right).
If you can, change the cable.
The tp will be charged enough when pressing the power and volume up buttons together brings up the usb symbol (webos recovery). Hold them for over 15 secs.
Good luck.

Excatly the same problem. Exactly the same ROM.
Trying your advice.
EDIT: It came back to life by itself.
I apologize for bumping an old thread
I just came into ownership of 2 of these without an OG charger and they are flashing left and right... Any advice?

The home button flashing left to right means the battery is charging but has insufficient charge to boot.
You need a charger, preferably the original one, but any mains/AC charger that kicks out 2A at the right voltage will do.
Leave the TP charging and eventually it should automatically boot into the default OS - may need 24 hours or more...
Cheers

Xperia T not charging occasional boots

I hate making new threads but I just had to:
Okay so first my problem:is that the phone is dead. I used it till it drained and now it refuses to start. The red light comes on but battery does not seem to charge fast enough and once it acquires the minimal charge, it spontaneously reboots and wastes that battery. Then I am back to square one. This keeps on happening. It has become really annoying.
I have read many threads. Actually I spent the last two hours or so trying various things. So if someone can tell me a solution, it would be great!
Any help is appreciated because I am helpless right now.
The first thing to do/try is to charge it for at least 24hs without touching it, just let it charge. Then try to turn it on.

I tried. It charges a little and it turns itself on and burns out the charge. But I fixed it! After a lot of time!

I've got this exact problem and I've tried all the 'fixes' google has to offer and none work. When I plug it in to charge no light comes on the only way to get it to charge is to hold VOL UP while pressing the Power button. You then have to hold the power button down to keep the charging light lit. However, once it has enough juice to boot it does just that (because the power button is held I guess) It boots all the way into Android and then shuts down because it does not have enough power (and isn't detecting the USB power).
How did you fix yours?
EDIT: FYI My Xperia T has not been rooted and is running the latest official firmware 4.3.

OK I've tried that and it's still not charging (no red light). The battery is definitely flat as I get no lights at all when pressing the power button without it being connected to power. I can only get the power light to come on by holding the power button. It's been sat here connected to the charger for 2 hours. Going to try the rubber band trick again (holding the power button down).
2 hours charging is definitely not long enough. Just let it charge for 24 hours and don't mess with it in the mean time.

OK I got the usual power up and instant power down because of low power. However I've banded the power button and the Vol Up buttons and it appears to be accepting charge without starting the phone. I'm going to leave it charge overnight hopefully it wont continuously boot cycle... Balls as I wrote this it had been charging for the longest time yet (about 40 mins) still not enough to get ti to boot android without instantly shutting down

It did charge for 24Hours no change, so then I tried (as advised elsewhere) to charge it again this time I waited 2 hours expecting the red light to come on but nothing...
The advice was charge for 24hours - no light shows as the battery is now discharging. The battery was totally flat this afternoon (no blinking lights when pressing power). Then disconnect the power and try and charge it, it should now show it's charging but it never did, maybe I should have waited longer.

OK the final 'fix' I found while googling this was to take the back off and disconnect the battery. This seems to have worked immediately my phone showed a red light and then booted up showing the battery charging symbol on screen - a welcome sight!

Xperia T 0% battery switches on and off {Resolved}

Hello!
My phone Sony Xperia T 4.3 running working fine until today my battery was at 1% and I forgot to charge it.
So when I came back to my phone it had restarted time and time again, so I plugged in charger and it still does the same.
My power button does not work on this phone.
What's happening is phone switches off and red light remains while charging but battery does not seem to charge, then after about 5-10 mins the phone restarts itself and shuts down because the battery is too low....
What can I do apart from getting a new battery?
Thanks

If it were my phone, I'd take the phone apart and keep the power button pressed with something, or charge the battery with an external universal charger, probably something like this.

Hi.
My power button does not work.
The battery is fixed inside the phone so how to charge externally?
Thanks
Can you enter recovery?
If yes, try to do so and let it charge. Or, select the reboot bootloader option, if it exists. ^^

You're right, I keep forgetting there are phones with non-removable batteries .
What I meant was that I'd try to press the internal function of the power button, not the plastic button on the outside. What that is is just a piece of plastic that presses the real power button on the mainboard inside, which can usually be pressed with a pin, or a pen.

I just opened the back cover of both phones, connected the battery lead from my phone to my friends phone / charged my battery for 2 hours and voila!:victory:
Never gonna let this happen again, close one!:fingers-crossed:

Well, as long as you can disconnect your battery terminals from your phone, and connect their negative and positive poles properly to the charger, it will charge almost any battery. I have a similar one (not that exact same one) with which I've charged all types of batteries; depending on the mAh, it will take different amounts of time, depending also on the battery capacity. All you have to do is move the charger pins to fit the type of battery you're trying to charge.

I don't see why not, as long as the leads are connected correctly to the positive and negative poles.
I had that problem yesterday, I solved just opening the back cover and unplugging the internal battery for 2 minutes: when replugged, it started charging normally.

There might be issue with offline charging of the rom or might be in the battery or adapter. Try using other adapter or battery.

Yep.
Typically if it shuts off the second you yank from a charger regardless of laptop or phone or anything its a battery issue. The cells arent holding a charge. Your able to boot into android and stay on while on charger so everything is fine evidently software wise... but that battery isnt holding the charge so it flops out.
You can either order the part online and do the change yourself which isnt too bad on Nexus or if your still under warranty then send it in.
