[Q] KINDLE FIRE 7 HD (2013) Booted successfully! But not more! - 7" Kindle Fire HD Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Dear sirs,
I like to root my kindle fire hd 7 (2013) but it does not work.
The screen shows me Booted successfully!
Starting adbd...
Done! If your device is not recognized, disconnect it. You need to install the Google Nexus ADB driver.
adbd is ok!
shell 168 1 3440 196 fffffff 00014dc4 S /sbin/adbd
Please be so kind and let me know what I can do.
Best wishes
Michael

You need to use Root Many Android.

I used option 3. Worked like a charm.

[Q] Bricked fire, Need help with fire kit

I have a rooted kindle with burrito root 10 months ago and now and tried to install cm10.
thought it went ok but is stuck in bootloop showing splash screen. Brick.
I must have messed up the bootloader because I can't get anywhere with KFU other than the device is online.
I reinstalled drivers, tried to reinstall FFF, twrp. no luck.
i've been reading threads a good part of the day and found fire kit with ubuntu running via USB.
I did that, then ran,
"sudo /cdrom/fk"
then I tried "usb_fix_parts_and_install_fff_twrp"
It failed saying "no such file or directory"
I'm not super familiar with ubuntu or their code.
Please help me unbrick this.

From what you wrote I suppose that you have original Kindle Fire and not Kindle Fire HD...
Anyway you could take a look on this thread.. someone wrote that he was able fix Booting loop with it

I hope it will help you,

Yes, I have a original KF. Thanks for the thread.
I downloaded the file called "7.1.5_stock_build.prop.zip".
I don't seem to know as much as I thought I did with command prompt because I can't seem to get it to load.
what directory should stock_build _pro file be in?
I followed the following script:
Code:
# adb shell
# echo 'ro.kernel.qemu=1' > /data/local.prop
I then get the following error:
* daemon not running. starting it now *
* daemon started successfully *
[email protected]:/ $ echo 'ro.kernel.qemu=1' > /data/local.prop
echo 'ro.kernel.qemu=1' > /data/local.prop
/system/bin/sh: can't create /data/local.prop: Permission denied

Wrong forum...
"I downloaded the file called "7.1.5_stock_build.prop.zip"."
I may be wrong, but I think that file is only for the HD, not the Gen 1 model (last year's model). If you jam it on your device you'll likely only make it worse (assuming you can get worse than bricked!)!
You need to get over to the Gen 1 forum as this is one for the HD series and won't be of any help to you.

[Q] Kindle Fire HD bricked (nothing works)

Part 1)
I have a Kindle Fire HD 7"....
I have installed the new Stock-Rom 7.4.3 from Amazon...
After that, i have used KFFirstAide to root and install Google-Service and ADW-Launcher....
Everthing was fine....
The only problem was, that there were no wallpapers in ADW-Launcher Mode...
Then i used the stuff from this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2295750
After running the script i got some error messages in the script....
After that, my Kindle was bricked:
Switch on => 2 Times Kindle fire Logo then red triangle with two options => reboot or reset to factory defaults
I have chosen both, but nothing works
Part 2)
I have ordered a fastboot cable.....
If i plugin the cable (Kindle is off) it starts and i can read FASTBOOT Kindle Fire in the Tab-Display
If i try to revocer via KFFirstAide (Option 4 => Completely Restore the KFHD 7 7.2.3) , it ends up with : < waiting for device >
In Windows 8 64 Bit Device manager i can see the following Device with yellow triangle: Tate-PVT-08
If i try to install the Kinde Driver again it tells me, that they are allready installed....
Part 3)
crying
Can you help me pls ?
Sorry to see that my script bricked a device, would love to know why it did, because the main reason it would usually cause bricks was recently nullified by adding safeties in to prevent that. I suggest not using a PC with windows 8 on it to fix your kindle if possible. You just need to reflash the system partition like your trying to do. Windows 8 usually gives people trouble with drivers when they are unsigned or modified, that's why I suggest you use a PC with windows 7 or xp on it, because your kindle is completely fixable. if you have no other PC's I can always help you get it working again to the best of my abilities.

Reinstall driver(sometimes it helps), close all adb and cmd windows in task manager, and in cmd type adb kill-server, then try KFFirstAide

If i use KFFirstAide do i have to use the normal usb cable or the factory cable ?
i have heard, the factory cable is only to put the Fire into Fastboot mode, after the Fastboot Logo i have to use the normal cable, is this right ?
Not really I used fastboot cable for all fastboot command and when it rebooted into fastboot again I just removed cable and rebooted manually, but for adb commands use regular cable
If a woodchuck chucked wood and Chuck found out, would Chuck get mad at the woodchucks for chucking Chuck's wood?
Windows 7 also no Driver
See the attachments...
If have installed the android sdk
then the Kindle Fire USB Driver from there....
Then plugged in the Kindle with Fast Boot Cable and Normal Cable... but no working driver
Tried with Windows 7 64 Bit....
Can you give me a step by step instructions (noob compatible) incl. download links ?
System: Win 7 64 Bit
Device: Kindle Fire HD 7"

well here's the modified google driver i made that should install with it. Just hit update driver on the tate-pvt device and point it to search in the folder that u extract from that zip file, it should do the rest by itself, minus asking are u sure u want to install a unsigned driver or something, just hit install anyway.
Edit: Trying to keep different version of my drivers from floating around on the forum, so use the link in my signature for the most up to date drivers.
Thanks to all
Kindle up again....
I had to install the driver with device manager, then show the device list, chose usb-devices then out of the manufacturer list kindle => kindle adb driver....
Then the Kindle was named Kindle in device manager and KFFirstAide did the rest....

[Q] Kindle Fire 7" Root

Hi all,
I'm new here, and I've been trying for the past few hours to root my Kindle Fire HD 7" so I can install a CM10.1 ROM and turn it into a google tablet. I've been searching the web for information, and I kept getting directed here so I decided I might as well join.
Anyway it seems the one method that works is the Bin4ry one, and I started following the instructions given on this site and others. However when I installed the driver, it said the installation was successful but when I clicked "Finish" a window popped up and told me the driver didn't install properly. Then I tried to execute the "Run Me" file, but it gave me this:
"Please connect device with enabled USB-debugging to your computer.
the system cannot find the path specified
doing a backup first, please confirm this on your device
the system cannot find the path specified
Done!"
Nothing happens on the Kindle Fire. But I checked the Device Manager, after I downloaded and installed a driver linked in a thread on this forum, it said the Kindle was USB-enabled interface. Anyone have any idea what the problem is, here? Thanks
Ok did you enable usb-debugging in the kindle's security settings? If you have try opening a command prompt and CD into the directory of the adb command in binary's root tool, run adb devices and see if the kindle is listed.

Yep, USB-debugging is enabled. It's the same thing as enabling ADB, right? This is what I've done thus far. I'm running Windows 8, so I've disabled driver signature enforcement, and also installed the drivers. I've checked Device Manager---the system has recognized the Kindle as a Google Android ADB interface, and if I check adb devices in cmd prompt, the serial number of my Kindle is listed. Also created an adb_usb.ini file according to these instructions:
"open adb_usb.ini with notepad
(add on one line each!)
0x1949
0x006
save file."
The problem now is not that nothing happens on the Kindle when I run the root tool, I do get the option to restore data but it prompts me to enter a data encryption password. I researched this and a techleopard article said to enter my Amazon password, which I did but nothing happens. The data restore options (Restore or Do Not Restore) just grey out and the root tool just says "Running" for ever and ever. Tried some other root tools such as Quemp and Kindle Fire Utility, but neither worked and besides the more recent information I've seen have Bin4ry's as the only one that works on 7.4.6 which is the OS I am using.
EDIT: Okay, tried it again and for some reason this time the root tool ran successfully. I did a power reset, and ran a RootChecker, and it says it's rooted but I can't find the SuperUser app (the checker also could not find it). Was the root still successful?
Probably though I am throwing a guess that only the such binary is installed, look in the /system/xbin folder and see if the such binary is there, if you want to to retry the process just delete that file. I was going to mention the encryption password is whatever your lock screen code is set to.
BTW don't ever use kfu to try to root your kindle, it will hard brick it. Its designed only for kf1's.

Heh, actually after a LOT of messing around, and perusing several articles across the web and on xda, I've got it working. KFU didn't brick anything, just didn't work. My only regret is that I now can't access the HD quality movies I'd bought from Amazon because Amazon only allows downloading to the Kindle and the Kindle only, and my internet isn't fast enough to stream HD.

[Q] [Root] KFHD "7 | HowTo Root on Mac?

I don´t get it managed to root my KFHD "7.
It´s on 11.3.2 and I´m using the stock USB Cable (is factory cable mandatory?). I made chmod 777 for the RunMe.sh and I´m running a MacBook Pro on Mavericks.
"./adb devices" shows my device...
I already found this http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=50985251&postcount=347
I absolutely do not understand, why it won´t work. Of course for some of you it will become absolutely obvious, why it won´t work, when they read this.
This is what I get:
Normal mode enabled!
Checking if i should run in Normal Mode or special Sony Mode
Please connect device with ADB-Debugging enabled now ...
remote object '/system/bin/ric' does not exist
remote object '/system/app/Backup-Restore.apk' does not exist
Normal Mode enabled!
Please connect device with ADB-Debugging enabled now ...
Pushing busybox ...
5178 KB/s (1085140 bytes in 0.204s)
Pushing su binary ...
4653 KB/s (91980 bytes in 0.019s)
Pushing Superuser app
5267 KB/s (996704 bytes in 0.184s)
Pushing ric
26 KB/s (57 bytes in 0.002s)
Making busybox runable ...
Now unlock your device and confirm the restore operation.
Please look at your device and click RESTORE!
If all is successful i will tell you, if not this shell will run forever.
Running ...
Successful, going to reboot your device in 10 seconds!
Waiting for device to show up again ...
Copying files to it's place ...
mount: permission denied (are you root?)
You can close all open command-prompts now!
After reboot all is done! Have fun!

Yes, I´m root user on the Mac.
Thanks for your help!
Ps: These are the threads I already read and I´m looking at...
[ROOT] How To: Root the Kindle Fire 7" HD or 2 with Linux/MAC - Noob (Simple) Version
manual fastboot whitout factory cable... regarding that, the factory cable doesn´t seem to be mandatory for rooting the device?!
[BOOTLOADER] 2nd-bootloader for Custom ROMs on KFireHD 7" [12/09 FREEDOM 7.4.6]
That´s what I want on the KFHD: [ROM-AOSP] Unofficial CM11.0 KFire HD 7 (KK 4.4_r1.2) [03/25 CODEC FIXES]
You can't put custom ROMs on the 2013 HD(which I identified by the 11.x.x os), only root access. On another note I just realized that that rooting thread for the 2013 HD didn't have a Linux/Unix compatible rooting script, only a batch file which is for windows, I assume the script is pretty simple, haven't looked at it yet. How about I convert it to bash and see if it will work for ya? I'll just have to grab the mac location for bash but other than that its pretty straightforward.

I read it now. Thanks, that would be great. Althought I will most probably send it back, because I were not aware of that fact and the stock ROM is slow and ugly ? But nevertheless that would be good for other Mac users too, I think ?
I'll post it tomorrow as I'm going to bed, I don't wanna work on it while I'm half asleep.

New Fire 7 and trying to transfer files.

My son just got a kindle fire for his birthday from his cousin, and they loaded a few games on it. One game is thomas and friends game, and i have the .odb files i want to put on the fire but running into a few problems.
I got the USB debugging on the fire to turn on.
I got the android sdks installed.
The fire is seen as a ADB device in device manager.
And ADB can see the fire through the command prompt.
The problem is when i go to open the fire on the my computer, it list nothing in the fire.
Now i dont have root installed or anything, if it requires me to root the fire i can do that but im not sure which version i have.
If i go into device options all it lists is Device Model Fire 7 (7th Generation) first 4 of serial is G0W0
