So I accidentally flashed a 4.3 rom to a kit kat flashed note 3. I can get into safestrap 3.7.5 but no matter what rom I flash it just goes to a black screen after I install it. I can get into download mode and safestrap. How do I fix this? I've tried flashing the kit kat rom after wiping everything but it still won't work. loads safestrap, hit continue, then black screen.
Help?
Safestrap keeps saying
E: unable to mount '/system'
etc

As far as double posting, sorry but I'm kind of panicking....
Go here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2838117
This will restore your phone to stock KK. You will then be able to root and install the latest SS.

Current SS 3.71 does not support 4.4.2 KitKat. It works for JB 4.3 only. We are waiting for new release SS for 4.4.2 KitKat.

I suggest you should do a whole lot of research before you started to flash things. Visit to the development thread and you can find out more info.
Go back to MJ5, and then flash KnoxRaid rom or any of those that ported by drake if you want to be on KitKat.

Found Drakey's instructions on simulating safe strap for now. was able to flash my keyboard. Looking forward to a safestrap for 4.4.2
Drake has been doing great things and Hashcode is still working on the bootlaoder safestrap issues. Hopefully we'll get it b4 the Note4 comes out!

Once SS is updated it should be fine. But the flashing process with odin isn't hard if you can get access to a computer. Drakey has very clear instructions in any of his ROM threads.

We have been able to get SS to work on the I337 4.4 NB1 build by first downgrading to 4.3 by only flashing some of the 4.3 partitions including the stock kernel then rooting and installing SS. Once we flash the Custom ROM in SS we flash back to the 4.4 stock kernel. From that point forward all we need to do to wipe and flash another ROM is flash the 4.3 kernel again.
I don't know if this will work on your device but it may be worth a shot.
i was on 4.3 and used safestrap to install a kitkat rom, and instead of going back to 4.3 via safestrap i just followed this link
http://rootzwiki.com/topic/110386-return-to-stock-mj5-works/
that got me back to 4.3 but the OTA to kitkat is not working, it is failing in recovery. Also when i reboot, where is says "Note 3", right under it is CUSTOM with a unlocked symbol. i followed the link i provided twice with it still not working... what can i do?

Very easy go back and reread the OP and follow each step exactly you've obviously missed a step.
Take your time its easy to miss something if your frustrated.
As long as you get into download you'll be fine and can get it fixed.
Whenever I used to try to update my phone from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4, my phone would say the installation was interrupted, and kies would say my firmware is up to date. At the time I didnt care much, but now that 5.0 is out, I want to figure this out. When I got my phone in September I flashed the original software to root, then reflashed 4.4.2. Since then I unrooted and restores my phone to try and resolve the problem, but neither have helped. Does anyone know a solution? If any more information is needed I can definitely provide it.

I had the same issue I used the files from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/att-galaxy-s5/general/how-to-root-g900aucu2aoa1-4-4-4-2-3-2015-t3021120 under troubleshooting I first downloaded and then flashed the file to downgrade to nce. Then downloaded the nce to ng3 ota file and sideloaded and flashed in stock recovery after that I have been able to download and update via the ota. hope this helps
doing that process
I can manage the first flash but I'm not really that good at this so how would I go about doing that second flash?

You need to place the update file on your ext sdcard then boot into stock recovery and update from ext sdcard.

Last questions are how to go into stock recovery and once I do that its all normal again?
How to boot Samsung Galaxy S5 Recovery Mode:
Power off your device completely.
Boot recovery mode by pressing and holding Volume Up, Home and Power, all at the same time.
Release all buttons when the Galaxy S5 screen flickers and the main Recovery screen will appear.
Once I updated to ng3 through the stock recovery I was able to take the ota updates for 4.4.4 and 5.0 normally.
Thanks, I'm going to try this now. Hope I don't lose any data!

you will when you flash through stock recovery.
Back up your data
It all went smoothly and I can update again! Thanks so much!
You are welcome.
I tried the instructions in that thread but I get an error when I try to install the first update.
The error mentions unexpected contents
What I did is copy the file to the SD card, booted into recovery and then selected install from external
What did I do wrong?
Hi there. Thank you so much for this. Question is that I am already on NG3 and I still dont have the update option! Would I need to go to OA1 one? Which I believe is 4.4.4? Then get the update for lollipop? A little confusion. And if that is the case, where can I get the file thing for OA1?

Yes I did. I tried it again and I see that I'm on NG3 now, I guess I have to do the other one Now.

You could always try sideloading the NG3 to OA1 update then flashing through stock recovery from the other thread I mentioned.
I rooted vs98039a with a one click root method on xda. Everything worked perfect! The only thing is, I don't have a recovery. When I try to boot into recovery, I get android on his back with the red triangle . Anyone know how to install twrp? I can't even do a backup. How do I do a nandroid backup? It's been a long time since I've done this and can't remember.

Onto your question...
What oneclick method? Do you have a link? Some install a recovery, some are simply root. If you're coming from 39a stock, you need to use XDABEBB's 39a bootstack (get it here) (keeps the 39a modem, rolls back to an older bootloader as Bump is patched in 39a so you can't boot anything but stock. Your oneclick method likely flashed a recovery, but not a bootstack.... Which is what's causing the dead android when you boot recovery. You're really lucky it didn't flash everything though as you could've possibly bricked your phone if it had.
You should have used Freedom Tool which would have got you what you needed... or maybe the new autorec.
Read Twice, Flash once.

No need, I flagged the post so the moderators would move it. They also cleaned up the thread.
Even if you're already rooted you can run that tool I linked, it will fix what was messed up.
