can someone please help me?
i want to cast live streaming channels from xbmc to chromcast.
i have a pc with windows 7, tablet with android 4.4 and a nexus 5 phone.
all with xbmc on them, and connected to the home network.
the only thing close to solution the i found is using screen cast on the nexus 5, but its to laggy and the sound is not synchronized withe the picture.
I'm willing to try any solution, no matter how complicated it is, to enable live streaming to my tv using chromecast.
thanks!
use plex
e: dunno how i missed 'channels', but plex is perfect for media streaming.

XBMC Devs are not interested in CCast at all...
And if you even ASK or Suggest they should support it their standard answer is you should support it yourself!
What tablet do you have? If it is not natively supported for screen mirroring, use the mirror enabler app in this forum and try screen mirroring from the tablet.
Another possible solution, although i dont even know if its possible or would work well, is to setup your chrome browser as an external player for xbmc, then once the stream loads in chrome browser, use tab casting. Research about playercorefactory.xml for xbmc for guides
---------- Post added at 10:28 PM ---------- Previous post was at 10:25 PM ----------
Another thing to consider is that if sound in xbmc is off sync you can change the audio offset setting to match things up correctly
oorrr ditch xbmc altogether, and go plex worked for me, and not looked back mucheo better !
1. Download Chromecast 1.7.4
2. Turn on Cast Screen
3. Start XBMC.
Supported devices.
Nexus 4
Nexus 5
Nexus 7 (2013)
Nexus 10
Samsung Galaxy S4
Samsung Galaxy S4 (Google Play Edition)
Samsung Galaxy S5
Samsung Galaxy Note 3
Samsung Galaxy Note 10
HTC One M7
HTC One M7 (Google Play Edition)
LG G3
LG G2
LG G Pro 2
is there no way to use my pc? (besides tab casting which also has lagging..) some transcoding software maybe?
have you tried BubbleUPnP ???
you can select the XBMC library im sure (as you can plex) then choose external player, and boom ya in !!!!
even the free one does all that too !

Thats is what Cast2TV does, If the link is not supported by Chromecast, it transcodes on the fly to supported formats. support .m3u8, rtmp and rtsp live streams as well as .mkv, .flv formats.
I wont buy this to be honest......most of the streams dont work using free version.

It's driving me nuts. The only thing that stops the the Nexus 7 being nothing more than a toy or glorified ebook for me is the fact I cannot find any form of big screen streaming for it. My 2 year old phone has MHL abilities which is okay but someone must know if there are any plans for the Nexus 7? It seems to be ridiculous to have such a powerful device and not be able to use it on a bigger screen.
I've searched back 10 pages on this subject and found nothing so welcome any fresh perspectives on it.

+1 to BubbleUPnP...
Though screen mirroring is not possible in BubbleUPnP, you can throw any media from it to your TV or other
DLNA enabled devices...
Luckily, my TV has WiFi dongle and Wi-Fi direct feature...
so, once my device is connected to the TV via WiFi-direct, launch BubbleUPnP and select the TV as renderer, I can
throw any media to the TV...
I'm also hoping and wishing for the screen mirroring...
Hi I will look at BubbleUPnP, I've been using Skifta for the time being which does DNLA quite well.
I use my PS3 as a receiver but it doesn't support many file formats.
It's a real shame the Nexus doesn't at least support MHL.

Been hoping for the same thing! Waiting for Chromecast to cast any video stream to my TV. Including my 1Channel app on xbmc
If you want to stream videos to XBMC using Chromecast technology then XBMC will need to embed Chromecast display/render functionality which may be difficult to impossible to include DRM which might make it useless. The other way around does not make any sense for XBMC as it does not transcode and act as a library, it's a self contained library and renderer. I've messed around with XBMC, My Movies, Plex and all have their advantages. I'm really hoping for Plex support so I can browse my movie library on my phone and cast it to the Chromecast just like youtube, google movies, etc.

XBMC does not transcode and by design is a renderer so unless XBMC completely changes their goals and design it just won't happen. Look at Plex it's designed this way, to have a back end media server transcoding to stream to basically any device. All they really need to do is define a transcode type for Chromecast then implement the front end controls into the Android app.

Plex gets installed on your PC (media library and transcoder) then you can run any number of Plex renderers (on PC, Android, Roku, etc). The only reason I'm more in favor of Plex over Bubble is that Plex does transcoding while Bubble doesn't. So I can play MKV files with Plex while with Bubble I can't. I would like to be able to stream every format I have instead of just the select native formats that the Chromecast can serve. Plex has an awesome transcoder so I really hope they can release this.
(edit: NM I'm an idiot. Plex runs as a DLNA server so it will do the transcoding through Bubble. Either way it looks like Koush seems to be close to including this feature into Allcast).
Hi,

Ive noticed that in chrome I can open MP4 videos and play them. Then cast that tab and it works fairly well. But I cant get it to work with any other extensions. WMVs will play but when I cast it doesnt show up on my tv.
Are there any web based media players that we can just cast the tab?
Im a little disappointed with this device it could been so much more

It really is worth the time to set up Plex and use it to cast from your Chrome browser tab. I set it up 2 weeks ago and my wife and kids love it. It breathes new life into your TV and movie collection. I use a wifi mouse on my phone to control it.
Also with Plex I can watch ALL of my movies at work, streaming them from my house to my phone and tablet. It really is handy, and makes the wait on chromecast bearable.

Here is a list of Apps that are already working on CCast support
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chromecast
As for what I would like to see....
1 - I would like to see the XBMC remote programs allow you to cast to Chromecast as a Target. But I think they would have to add transcoding to XBMC to do it well....
2 - Would like to see a good SCREEN CAST app which I think may in the end not require an APP because it will be native to Android.
3 - The Ability to leverage HDMI-CEC capabilities of Chromecast in an App to enable CCast to act as a Remote Control via IP. (But better would be an IR blaster port in the next generation CCast so those without HDMI-CEC setups can use it as well)
4 - Screen Mirroring support for PC outside of Chrome (Not really an App as much as a program for PC)
Twitch, undoubtedly my app I'd use the most.

I doubt that Dropbox would add casting to it's own app.
Whats funny is I looked at the DIAL homesite and saw the Bittorrent and uTorrent name registered in their database...So soon your Bittorrent client like Azureus or uTorrent may get the capability to stream to CCast.

Great Article! As great as the Chromecast is....It is the DIAL protocol itself that is what makes the device exciting and the Potential to change the way we do TV in the future.
Just imagine TVs with Two Way DIAL support...Whats on the TV can be sent to a second screen...
Or content from any device that supports DIAL can be sent to any TV.
No worrying about the Manufacturer keeping their smart Apps up to date anymore.

Haven't had a chance to confirm, but assuming things haven't changed significantly from the beta, maybe if the data within the AVI is compatible with Chromecast, but that is unlikely in most cases (MPEG-4 is usually not wrapped in an AVI).
So in most cases, No.
AllCast does not transcode. Neither does Avia.
For that you need a Plex server or a DLNA server that does transcoding.
I seem to recall in the beginning, Koush's casting app was intended to support choosing content from a networked desktop using the mobile app and casting it to TV. I gather it doesn't support that yet / anymore?

In the beginning (it may have changed) AllCast was essentially an "extension" to whatever player/browser you are already using. You then "Share" the content to AllCast and AllCast does the data-forwarding to Chromecast.
Avia can do the same thing if you Share something to it, but Avia is also a player/browser in itself if you run it.
