Hi guys,
I have a galaxy gt-s5830 with android 2.3.6 XWKT8, but i am unable to root it...
I have tried super one click root, z4root, frameroot, doomlord v4 root, and even the patches to put in the cwm by instaling a zip from card...
I've tried to reset to factory settings, revert to 2.3.5 root it and then upgrading, but it looses the root...
I don't know what to do else, can anyone help me?
Tks

Hi i tryed all the ways to root my Samsung Galaxy Ace (S5830), SuperOneClick, upd_1.zip
I get the superuser application on it but doesn't give me root acces, so its still not rooted,
All applications that requires rooted phone don't work, super user doesn't show any allow
notifications, has no apps in its list when i open it, tryed modifing settings in it still no succes....
Model Number: GT-S5830
Android Version: 2.3.6
Baseband Version: S5830XWKT4
Kernel Version: 2.6.35.7-perf-CL965213 [email protected] #1
Build Number: GINGERBREAD.HRKT2
I googled a lot, tryed a lot, no succes, please help!
EDIT:
I did it!
I know this is an old Thread but I wanted to post that I did and how I did it: The problem was because of my stock rom limited space so I used thinkdroid.apk_removal.zip to remove thinkdroid from device and free space for full super user installation was now there, and afther the thinkdroid.apk every root atempt worked flawlesly.
The problem was because of the Hugo Boss Rom that had a limited internal memory, ow and I needed to delete everything on internal memory, so if someone is having the same problem:
1 factory reset
2 from recovery flash thinkdroid removal
3 flash root_upd1 (or any root zip for sga)
done
Can u uninstall the superuser app?

I did exactly like in the tutorials, I copied the root.zip to sd card, putted device in recovery mod, update from sd card, reboot, got super user on device but, no root acces, so i "unrooted" my device, to delete the unworking superuser, how do i make it work ? please help... In the tutorials there is nothing sayed about flashing( I don't know well this term I think it means installing operating sistem on device) I don't want to flash a nother operating sistem version of android, I just want to root my device. Make the superuser work, grant root acces for applications...
Video example of what i did [update data from sdcard] : youtube video /watch?v=rUSn0E_dWMg (and unrooted and tryed a lot of diferent root.zip files none worked... unrooted and wiped to factory settings after every fail...)

SO i need to flash cfroot kernel, afther that the superuser app will work fine, my device will have ropot acces, and apps that needs root acces will work? can i flash a cfroot kernel via recovery mod/ update from sdcard ?
1. Backup everything on your device
2. Do a factory reset
3. Apply upd_1.zip (for Gingerbread 2.3.5, 2.3.6, attachment)
4. Put all your files back.
Do not extract the zip file! Just select the .zip file from your SD card.
Tested: Galaxy Ace - 2.3.5 Stock

Do factory reset.
Don't install anything on the internal memory.
If you have any app that requires root access, delete them (ex: ROM Manager, Superuser etc.)
2 options:
Try the .zip file again
or
Use SuperOneClick ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682 )
If you use SuperOneClick make sure you follow the steps.
You NEED to put your phone on USB Debugging mode
You NEED to install make sure the Android drivers for your phone are installed
Make sure you DO NOT mount your SD card.
If you still can't get something to run, try doing it in recovery mode.

Try to flash a 2.3.5 Stock. Most phones have 2.3.5 pre-installed. Install a ROM like CyanogenMod to get 2.3.7 and extra features when you are done rooting.
Get a 2.3.5 ROM at samfirmware.com
You need to register and all the .zip files have a password (pass: samfirmware.com)
EDIT: Backup everything from your SD card and format it. Put it back and try again.

I read in this topic that it doesn't work, but thanks anyway. Im waiting for the unrooted stock rom from NOOBY.
Now using CM10
Previously used Zeus ROM..
At times of using Zeus, I successfully installed Stock ROM (rooted or non-rooted) whatever I wanted without problems.
But after using CM10, when installing with smartflash tool the stock ROMs, I am getting bootloop...
waiting for good solution...

You definitly made a mistake somewhere. Try the v20s bin/fls files from my noob how to, since they also work for me. Did you wipe everything when you were in recovery + flash superuser.zip? Unroot ROM is ready, but you need CWM to flash it and will lose all kind of root access.
Hi.
I am a stock JB user with philz. I recently formated my phone and installed fresh copy via PC Odin. Clean install.
Just want to ask. If i install super SU directly Like any other app, Will it give me root.
Or is it important to install any other kernel. I am not thinking of wipeing and all sort of things.
I just want root nothing else on my stock JB (India)
Regards
Mani
Just flash the root_supersu.zip in recovery you will only got the supersu

you can reflash root via CWM.. to avail root access again..

It would be our pleasure.
How does installing an apk file remove root access ? Type of apk is irrelevant ! Your statement is absolutely nonsensical.
If you had meant installing stock ROM via Odin, then you're correct; but that isn't what you said in your post.
@OP
No, simply installing the superSU apk will not grant root access.
Do this:
1.)Go to this thread
2.)Follow option 1B
Just flash Philz Kernel!

basically the time when you rooted your phone something went wrong and it is currently causing you this issue that you are having right now.
the current issue you are having right now is common.
its like a hit or miss thing.
-root with no bugs
-root with bugs <------- thats where you are now
-no root
just root it again and it will most likely solve the issue.
It seems you will have to restore your phone with SUS.
Then root using this script: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2186368
I had the same problem than you, it was caused by using a bad root script. I fixed it restoring and using the script i from the thread i posted, it does not include a recovery, remember to install it later.
may be is that point.. every time i root still not good.....
then i try the other bro that root , my device is root ^^
