Is my battery fried? - Sprint HTC One (M8)

Battery issue-seems to be unique. Didn't get phone extremely wet but it was being used in a bit of light rain yesterday when this issue surfaced. Phone died at some point in my pocket on the way into office from car. Set it to charge and, since then, i get flashing orange light with the battery/lightning bolt indicator-in perpetuity . Tried messing with all kinds of button combinations on and off charger and nothing has changed-flashing orange light w/battery indicator (empty-no green or percentage). Phone doesn't even seem to heat up even after hours on charger. Any help would be greatly appreciated, my m7 getting to feel extremely dated on day two.

Try holding power volume up and down for 2 minutes. It's supposed to reset the battery charge logic

Any update?

Was Mia awhile- thanks I'm trying now!

Kind of an old.trick but a good one,
Go to: data/system
Delete: batterystats.bin
Plug in phone and let battery charge (if it will)
When battery is fully charged dont un plug your phone, go to data/system again and delete batterystats.bin again. Reboot your phone.
When the light turns green again then unplug the phone. This is basically a manual reset for batterystats.

Would love to try this but I can't boot into recovery whatsoever- almost a month later and I'm still stuck with: empty battery charging emblem and a flashing red light in perpituity

First time I've seen this.might want to take it in to Sprint. They might exchange it for you

I appreciate the advice- this would be my second exchange in a year so Im tentative to take it in and TEP( or whatever its current equivalent is) seems to get more restrictions/rules every year. Phone will work now if its plugged in but the second it loses connection with external power source -dies immediately.

I had a similar issue plugging it into my PC via USB and waiting for the light to remain solid before powering it on seemed to work

Bionic peed itself then forgot its name.....

It figures it would happen on a Friday night. Found out Saturday morning that Big Red no longer stocks replacement phones. No fastboot access, no life at all other then it gets warm when it's plugged into the charger and the LED lights up white when the battery is out and USB is connected.
Phone was pretty hot in my pocket right before it died. It lit up once for a second (Dual Core screen) after I had pulled the battery for 20 mins. The graphic flashed away and the backlight stayed on. Nothing else.
Not missing anything am I ? I've already got a replacement coming but if I could access this phone again it would make the rebuild of the new phone easier.
Put the battery in but don't power it on.
Plug it into the charger and check back in 2 hours.
Then try turning in on again.

[Q] LED flashes 9 times when plugged into charger

Folks,
I let my phone go completely flat the other day. I'd gone away for a week and had forgotten to take my XL with me, came back, plugged it into the charger for an hour, and nothing.
I do notice that after removing the battery, putting it back together, and plugging it into the charger, the LED flashes red 9 times (exactly 9, each time i do this). I cannot find anything that mentions 9 red led flashes in forums, docs or google.
I'll leave it to charge overnight, see if that makes a difference, but am a bit worried about it all (bought the XL in Singapore, and I'm in Oz, and only have Singapore warranty).
On side note, phone is rooted, the chinese recovery flashed (anzhi?) with bindroid rom flashed.
I'll see how I am after 12+ hours charging, but any suggestions/advice would be most welcome.
Hi I don't have a XL but I do have a desire z and it does the same thing I'm not sure if its nine led flashes but it certainly does flash for a while and won't turn on like its dead, i thought its something to protect the battery when drained fully. Although I may be wrong. I find using the original HTC charger and leaving it for an hour or two it sorts itself out when really drained. The other thing is to use a different battery then swap back to the one that was flashing this sometime gives it a kick up the backside. Hope you get it sorted, regards b

if your phones vibrates or LED flashes red and won't turn on. This is a qualcomm debug message and nothing to do with HTC, There may be a H/W fault.

fixed. after reading the forums again some more, I took the battery out for two hours, put it back in, connected to charger and turned on. it then, finally booted up. it was at zero charge though, so I have to leave it for a while.
the key thing is connect phone to charger before turning on, after having left battery out, otherwise it will boot up and then shut down again.
forget the multiple threads + posters who gave me inspiration, but kudos to xda.

[Q] Is it brick?!

Well im pretty good with electronic, dis assembly and reassembly... however I may have bit the farm here. I replaced my digitizer for my device and the adhesive I purchased wasnt good enough so it was causing touch screen issues... So I took it all apart again and put it all back together to find OMG it wont turn on? Fully charged battery so I know thats not the issue and everything seems to be put in the right place (as if there is any other way to re-assemble this phone)....
So I did some trouble shooting... I tried switching to an original charger, attempted hard reboot assumed maybe the device was confused... left it on the charger as if god himself removed the remaining battery life all to no avail... However one thing I did notice is that for a while when the device was unplugged and sitting there the LED light would periodically blink red... hmm couldnt find anything on that ... Also when I remove the battery leads and plug it in the LED light illuminates green and stays that way regardless there still is no function to the phone literally a blank screen... I checked the screen and digitizer for damages both on its leads and the devices themselves and found there to be nothing wrong with them...
Im pretty sure I know the answer Im just hoping that Im wrong..
Also heres something Ive noticed as well, that when I plug both the phone in and leave the battery in it gets dangerously hot like battery about to explode hot after about 10 minutes or so

I buy broken Atrix HDs off of eBay all the time so I may be able to help. I've noticed that even though the battery is fully charged, when replacing the digitizer, the phone will think it's dead until it hits 100%. I usually have to hold the power button a Lil longer than normal, and when it turns on it will say 1% bat, remaining. It will charge the remaining battery and instantly jump to 100% when it's full.
Tl;dr: hold power until it turns on, charge to 100%

Well heres the thing. I already have been using the phone since Ive replaced the digitizer and its functioned relatively properly (aside from the adhesive not holding the digitizer down) the thing that concerns me is when I hook the battery back up to it and plug the phone in it gets dangerously hot like literally to the point where I question weather or not its going to explode also it doesnt show any LED function with the battery connected.
Go through and double check all of your connections. Also, connect it to your computer and see what device manager says.

Checked, rechecked and triple checked the connections as you know with the MB886 the connections only go one way and they either are in or not theres no middle-man. Unfortunatly my data-cable is not functioning so I cannot hook it up to the PC at the moment however I assume that if there is no function or charge with it just being plugged into the power cable then likewise would result from a PC connection. Not to mention the unexplained heat... like Im saying its almost to hot to hold kinda heat..
Well, last one I bricked it would be green light anytime it was plugged in and it had a specific register on the device manager.

When I plug it into my computer it says USB INPUT DEVICE RECOGNIZED DRIVERS INSTALLED CORRECTLY! To me that all sounds posative! Question is where to from here?
Thats with the battery out... When I hook the battery up it immediatly begins to get warm and recognizes as a Motorola USB Composite Device then starts disconnecting/reconnecting... Also during this process I noticed that the aluminum battery chassis is cracked right where the battery connects to the unit...
Do you have a second battery? If so, test the other battery. Otherwise, I am out of thoughts.

another dead HTC One thread

Hey all,
I've tried searching for a resolution and tried several, but no go,
Here is my issue.
Playing ingress today (I know, battery hog) and noticed phone down to 54%, plugged it into car cigarette power plug and phone was still extremely warm after 30 mins of charging with ingress killed and screen off.
Got back to my hotel, it was at 34% and still very warm.
Turned it off and plugged into wall charger, waited about 15 min, tuned on, and now it was down to 17%!!!!!
It would slowly charge and after 1 hour would only gain 5% with everything off (gps, wifi, in airplane mode).
I am using latest nightly CM 10.2 with thouvvak's kernel and Fast Charge enabled, but also restored a stock image and a previous backup of cm10.2
from 1 week previous. All CM roms tried with and without cusom kernel.
Even tried latest nightly CM10.2 incase here was an issue with that one build..
Everytime I tried to charge it, it would get extremely warm. I know this phone gets warm, but this is warmer than normal..
For a while it was flashing red light, even while charging and cool (ish).
Now it doesn't show any charge light, won't power on.
Tried turning on under bright light, Vol up+vol down+ power, and any other key combination.
Anyone else ever have this issue?
I have it sitting on HTC Original charger now and will see what happens overnight.
Thanks!
Bryan

don't know if this will help, but try: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2481211

C6903 No longer charging.

My Z1 has started playing silly games, it no longer charges properly! It will be fine for a while, typically ten minutes or so, then it will pop up a warning message saying the connected power source isn't charging the battery. It will then drain faster than it can charge. Last night for example I put it on charge around 7pm with 67% and took it off at 8am this morning, but it's dropped to 3%. I've tried various chargers and cables, the dock, all 3 of my magnetic cables (how I normally it charge anyway) and tried all the usual methods of reset such as holding the red button under the SIM port down. Nothing works. It started around two weeks ago, since then I have flashed another firmware but the problem persists.
My phone is currently plugged into a 2 amp capable magnetic dock plug with the Sony plug that comes in the box. Just typing this message it's drained the battery 9% while on charge, wifi on and network off, screen brightness down and no other apps open.
I've spoken to Sony and they won't do anything, my rear glass is cracked so they won't even look at it and they seem to think it's water damage! The phone hasn't ever seen water so that's a load of BS from them.
What can I do?

I have the same problem after updating to KitKat. I'm using dock station too, but not the one that came with my phone (I didn't got any with it).
I put my phone to charge, and after 5-10 minutes it starts to show the message. One time I found my phone drained till 0% in the morning. So, I found a simple solution for my phone. Before I put the phone to charge, I turn it off, wait 2-3 seconds then turn it on. I immediately put the phone to the dock in the boot process. That's the only way I can properly charge my phone.
Hope this will help you...
