I am looking for a root method for my D955 running 4.4.2 kitkat, build number KOT49I. I tried the ioRoot method, but this showed me a dead Android (incompatible).. I searched the Internet but couldn't find something I could use.. Is there a way to root my device?
Rooted using towelroot! Please close thread

At this time there is no Root available for the NC2 update. We have no idea when, or if, it will even be available. If a root method is discovered then it will be big news, so I'm sure you will hear of it in these forums.
Also, there is no downgrade option at this point.
My phone showed that there was an update available to KitKat and without thinking about it I updated. Now I noticed I do not have root access. SO I figured I would just root again, so I looked up a YouTube video to root LG Flex running KitKat. Did that but didn't work and I've now read that you can't root with KitKat. I can't find a thread that explains whether you actually can or can't root on T-Mobile LG Flex D959 with KitKat and if I already updated, how exactly do I go about rooting or back to before the update. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated.

Not trying to be a dbag but always read through the android development section. I just read through the ioroot thread and it seems that the only way for you to attain root access on the D959 KK is D-FUSE's rooted rom. You will need to downgrade first though and follow all the outlined directions. Watch the video tutorial if need be. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=52553477
I'm looking to probably upgrade from my GS3 to the GS5. I've read some of the posts on here about rooting, but I'm still a bit confused. It seems that root is only available for 4.4.2, but then you can't keep root and upgrade to 5.0.1. Is that correct?
Also, could anyone point me to a thread that lays out the root method for the phone? I see a lot of people talking ABOUT the thread existing, but no actual links to the thread.
Thanks in advance!

Note that OTA 5.0 just got pushed by AT&T and if you take it, there is currently no way to root or downgrade to 4.4.2 to use towelroot. In fact if you try to downgrade after the 5.0 OTA, you will end up bricking the phone. I'm sure devs around are working on finding a way to root the OTA, but as of today there isn't a way. There is an alternate method using FireFlash which is in beta to install 5.0 on a rooted 4.4.4. Note that if you are just about to buy a S5, it might be preloaded with 5.0 which until probably some time in the future is not rootable.
I would suggest delaying your upgrade from S3 to S5 until someone figures out how to root 5.0 OTA.

Gotcha. I'm not gonna not upgrade simply because root may not be possible yet if it's already 5.0, but that's good to know. Thanks.
Wanted to know if there was a root out there for N900A Lollipop 5.0 yet. or if there was a way to restore back to 4.4.2 and then root and update to 5.0 been looking for an hour and not finding anything. if this has already been answered please post link and i will close thread.
You will need to downgrade back to NC2, then root with towelroot, install busybox, install safestrap, then upgrade to rooted Lollipop. You can find downgrade instructions/link on Walter White's thread as well as instructions on how to do the lollipop upgrade once you're rooted:

So here's the backstory, about a year ago I bought a fairly new Samsung S5 (SM-G900A) off of swappa.com. It's always been on Straight Talk, so I have never been able to receive AT&T updates. My problem with getting it to Android 5.0 is that my phone needs to be at 4.4.4. I can't find any firmware out there to upgrade from 4.4.2 to 4.4.4 since AT&T hasn't published their firmware. Any assistance/help/tutorials in finding a way to get my phone up to 4.4.4 would be much appreciated.

Are you rooted? Do you want root? 4.4.4 was not much difference from 4.4.2.

It's not rooted and I don't need root access. If root is an absolute must than I wouldn't have a problem rooting my device. I wanted 4.4.4 so I can upgrade to the stock AT&T 5.0 ROM.

Read and follow the instructions in post 1. READ THE NOTES SECTION at the bottom of post 1. You'll need to root with towel root first then you'll be able to flash up to 5.0. I don't know if any way for you to do it regular as i have never had straight talk.
