My WiFi keeps disconnecting every now and then randomly and I have tried many things and still no luck.
I have:
N.O.P.E kernel 2.6 on 750MHz OC
MiniCM10 V8 clean flash
Here is what happens, After I connect to the router the phone pings correctly immediately after I start using internet (with any app) the connection drops after a few seconds.
The weird part that I have screenshoted with WiFi analyzer:
One screenshot is before I connect to the SLR-DSL2 and the other one is after I have connected to the router. Second one shows no signal change which is not normal of course.
And the third screen shot shows ping responses from my phone, before and after connection.
I have tried Wifi Keep Alive but it just *sometimes* reconnects the broken connection. (Option 3 & 4)

Sorry to say this but I have tried it with no luck. Maybe you've prejudged because I didn't mention it!
Well after a few days of struggle and testing different ROMs and Kernels, I managed to fix the WiFi issue by restoring the Stock HTC Rom then factory reset and installing Prometheus Sense4 Kernel.
The issue was really annoying and nothing could fix it. I tried MiniCM on Nope and Prometheus with no luck. Even RevolutionMod roms on android 4 had the issue.
Anyway with my phone config is almost stable and WiFi rocks as it should be . But the UI (HTC) is not fluent as it was on Cm10
HTC Stock ROM on Prometheus Sense4 800 OC.

Hello.
I've tryed many ROMs that are here in xda: Froyobread, GingerDX, GingerXperia, kuyaDROID, xGin, etc... And now I am using Stornmix with stock kernel.
But in all this ROMs I've had always the same problem: wi-fi.
My wi-fi connection works good during 1 or 2 minutes. Then it stops working and I can't use the browser nor the market or other app that uses internet connection.
When I turn off and on again the Wi-fi, the internet connection comes back good, but the same happens after few time.
I even tryed 1 wi-fi fix that i've found here, but didn't solve my problem.
Have you guys experienced this problem too?
Any clue how to solve it?

It is already that way.
Always have been.
Delete the remembered connections.Sometimes too much of them cause problems.
There's a compatibility issue with WPA-AES encryption. It's been discussed here and somewhere else (official SE forum i think). Not much to do about it...

Scratch the "AES" and make it "EAP" ...
IF AES would be a problem I think no one of us could connect to their access points as WPA/2 actually uses AES for encryption ...

I had a similar problem with GDX back in the days of v012 onwards. The WiFi connection wouldn't completely die but only go through a disconnect/reconnect loop every 2-5 minutes (unless I used "Wifi Static" to set a static IP configuration for my access point).
I solved the "disconnect/reconnect loop while using DHCP" problem by switching to another WiFi channel (my Access Point automatically determined channel 1 to be the best choice ... I later on switched to channel 11 and the problems fixed itself) - sounds weird, but worked.
You may give it a try.
On the other hand we already had weird WiFi problems which really didn't go away unless one flashed back to stock (where the WiFi suddenly worked flawlessly again) and changed over to the custom ROM again from there.

Thank you for your help, I'll try that and see if it improves my wi-fi.
And yes, as I can remember, it worked nice with the stock rom.
WiFi is working on 2 other sgs2s but not on my NOTE! It was yesterday but not anymore! i tried everything, flashed another ROM (was using criskelo v4.1, flashed CheckROMv5) in vain! The weird part is that if i go to facebook in browser it works but nothing else works. No app, market, kitchen app, nothing! All works on 3g! It's extremely frustrating and i can't seem to find any answer anywhere!
If i start browsing with 3g then enable wifi, it works. I don't know what to do and i can't keep using 3G, it's extremely expensive in my country!
It started when i flashed UltimateKernelCleaningTool from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1363738&page=13 before flashing AbyssNoteKernel35bOriginalLogo.zip.
Any clues?
Try assigning Static IP in WiFi Settings.
If everything Ok on device side, you may try to reset your Router. perticularly if mac protection enable, this issue occurs.
no mac protection is enabled on router, and if it's a router problem shouldn't other devices be affected by it? Laptop connected with internet, bro's sgs2 connected with internet, sis's sgs2 also!

yes, i tried abyss3.5b and cf kernel la4!
i prefer cf kernel since it has all functions enabled like 3 way torch and loop capabilities (no other kernel has those)! I've been using the cf kernel ever since i got my NOTE 2 month ago and never encountered that problem before!
Just want to share my experience. i faced similar problem today. I connected to WIFI in my office but was not working. Then i started browser and realized i need to login to cyberroam for WIFI to work. Everything worked smoothly thereafter. Hope this helps !!! Goodluck !!!
any firewall rules enabled on router? or any IPS/filter enabled?
i use droidwall, i tried disabling it but it didnt work! I tried browsing directly after clean install (no app installed) still didn't work! 3G works great.
Ok random problem for me..
Using the note since December last year with no problems... Until now!
Have tried most custom roms now but have recently stuck with stock as I like to use the sky go app so I can watch the F1 at work.
My problem is with any ICS Samsung based ROM my wifi keeps dropping and then reconnecting but the strange thing is only with my virgin media dlink router. If I connect to my BT home hub its fine (but so slow on YouTube etc and my PC is hooked to the virgin line which I use for all share)
Is there a fix for this? I don't want to go back to GB even though the connection problem doesn't occur there as I'm one of the few who actually likes stock ICS. I have done a search and there are a lot of complaints threads etc even with the s2 but no definitive fixes. Any and all help and suggestions appreciated
Cheers

OpenWrt
Have the same issue with Stock SGN ICS and routers with OpenWrt. Still dont know what causing it.
Regards.
Yeah, I´ve been experiencing that too. I have been working abroad recently, and when I was at home it seemed fine so I assumed it was the network rather than the phone. Using it side by side with my ipod, the ipod is working more consistently, so I wonder if it just has problems holding a connection when the wifi signal is weak (all the routers here are wireless G, while at home I used a newer N router). I noticed, in particular, that when the ipod was reporting very poor signal, the note was giving good signal, but was not able to connect, and then lost connection altogether.
Do you still get drops if you have your phone very close to the access point?
I get less frequent drops if im closer but it still loses connection then auto reconnects. I just never had this problem with GB.
Well i thought i'd try a couple of the custom roms.. So far King Droid 4.2, AllianceRom V1, Cassies XLR and now on RocketRom v7. They are all doing it. Im at my wits end.
So im now gonna try a few different kernels.. If i remember rightly the kernel handles the WIFI?

Flash A New Kernel Like Francisco Or CleaNote, You Be Home Free.
Okay guys I've got a constant problem with DMX, not just with this version, but I start to get tired of it. So after a day or two of flashing, wifi starts to stuck at "Obtaining IP address", and does not connect at all after that. As I said it's not only with this version (I'm on 1.6.5), I have also tried different kernels, etc, but it's still the same. I don't want to always reflash, but I'd also stick with this ROM as I really like it. This problem does not come up on CM-based ROMs at all. Thanks for any tips.
Btw I've also tried static/dynamic IP settings, I've changed a router (not because of this), reseted it many times, so not that I didn't try anything at all.
I never had a issue... Have you installed the rom with full wipe?
Of course I did a full wipe, didn't restore any system apps, and as I said it works perfectly for a few days, then bamm! I was playing SongPop, started a game with someone and it stopped when downloading songs.. then I went in wifi options and it showed this IP bug once again. By the way I've just finished reflashing (now without full wipe), and it doesn't even connect now. I really like flashing ROM's etc, but not the same one all over again lol.
Finally I could set static IP on my phone, works now, Thread can be closed. If anybody has the same problem (I've read I'm no the only one), then holla at me!
I'm having a wifi issue from the day i have purchased this phone my wifi always go in the sleep mode don't know why no matter which ROM i use it goes to sleep after the screen is locked or after 5-6 sec of no use of phone.
i'm the only one having this prob i guess.. I thing its an hardware issue, not sure, hope some1 could help me out ^_^
Note: i have kept wifi policy sleep never
Problems with wifi is a kernel issue.
Its adviseable to post which kernel is used
Well I wouldn't be sure, as I was using Kowalski kernel and KoB kernel too, both had the same problem, and only on DjangoManoucheX ROM. But it seems to work now with static IP set.
akash.mahadeshwar has his ROM/kernel stated in his signature, too bad I can't help you.
Lol I don't know if its hardware or software issue but changing rom or kernel dosent fixes it :-/

have you tried changing your wifi to static ip?
if not, then go into wifi settings and long press/modify the one you cannot connect to. Go to advanced settings and change from DHCP to Static IP. Run Windows commander (just type 'cmd' in the Start Menu search box), and type 'ipconfig /all'. It will show all the informations you need to type to your device's wifi settings. You can give almost any number to the first IP field (when your IP getaway is, for example 192.168.7.1, you only have to change the last number to any you want to, like 192.168.7.155.. but the best way is to get the IP number your device used before wifi got stucked). If you can't see DNS1 and DNS2 in your ipconfig, then you have to go into your router's settings (in browser), that will show them. If you type everything correctly, then Save button won't be greyed out no more, and voila. Wifi works perfectly for me since then. I hope it helps.

Changing Wi-Fi to static is far from being a solution; at best it's a workaround.
It's probably related to LG code, used to compile the module loaded by kernel.
I'm not sure if the problem you're reporting us exactly this: I have a brief disconnection/reconnection sometimes when I unlock the phone (Wi-Fi suspends policy sets as never), but this it's not annoying me to much because while sleeping it's connected, and the 2-3s after wake-up is not to much.
Do not say "thanks"; just press it under here.

No, my problem was I could not connect to my wifi AT ALL. Couldn't even do it after a full wipe and reflash, so using a static IP is a solution for me, as it works for 3 days by now. It can be related to the stock ROM's code, as CyanogenMod ROMs don't have this problem for me.
Try flashing KoB kernels again, in mine its wifi work correctly

Hey guys! I have only just joined XDA Developers so please excuse me if I have posted this thread in the wrong area. I have a Samsung Galaxy S Advance (GT-I9070) running stock Jellybean firmware (4.1.2 ITV) but as you all know the stock firmware for this device is full of bugs and freezes often. I successfully rooted my device and installed Team Canjica's CM10.2 ROM (4.3) from the thread on XDA Developers but the WiFi wasn't working. I then installed Maclaw's CM11 ROM (KitKat) because I thought that might solve the issue but it didn't. Here are the details:
Device scans for nearby wireless routers.
I type in the password for my home router.
Device saves router. "Saved, Secured" message displayed.
I tap on my home router in the list to connect.
Device says "Connecting" for a couple of seconds and then goes back to saying "Saved, Secured".
I browsed through the forums and some users suggested switching WiFi Frequency to Auto and turning off WiFi Optimisation but neither of those methods worked for me. The ROM was installed successfully and all other features are working properly so I don't think that is the issue. And my router settings are also alright since I am able to connect to it from my Nexus 7 (2013) properly. Can someone please provide me with a working solution for this issue? I will start receiving very high data usage bills soon because my data plan isn't unlimited. Thank you!
Is your ssid hidden (not broadcasted) by any chance? i had those troubles on hidden home network. Sometimes it worked after a while, sometimes it didn't. What helped me is to broadcast ssid for a moment, get connected with phone, remove broadcast (it will reboot router so phone will lose wifi for a moment). Then somehow it got connected normally

I just checked my router settings and SSID Broadcast is enabled. I tried flashing OmniRom 4.3 thinking that this may be because of a problem with CyanogenMod but the problem still persists. Is there any additional kernel that I was supposed to install perhaps?
CyanogenMod 11 version ?

Just a detail to those who have not upgraded to JB stock and think it is impossible to use it without problems:
All bugs and freezes in Stock JB currently are perfectly finished.
I use STOCK, only with modified kernel (cocore 8.2) without freezes or bugs in months of use.
Enjoy the developer's work (cocafe), because without it JB probably would be impossible in SGA. However we have JB 100% functional and bug-free.
About KK and WIFI bugs:
The only KK (or based) ROM that used without WIFI bugs was RR 20140313.
In fact, the only issue is incall vol. in my experience.
WiFi Direct, Camera -> Panorama is laggy , Screen Recorder not working Not Tested
I also noticed that the battery is worse durability.
But I went back to JB Stock -- personal preference.

Actually I did try that method. Flashed Samsung's latest stock firmware I9070XXLQL (ITV) and then rooted and installed CoCore. To be honest overall performance was much better and UI smoothness was improved. But after a couple of days of regular usage with just a few basic applications such as a note taker, train arrival time, WhatsApp etc. the device started freezing up a couple of times a day again. I admit it worked much better than before but freezes and hangs were still quite frequent. Running OmniROM 4.3 now with no issues so far except for dialer FC, laggy panorama and non functional WiFi hotspot.

WIFI not working with cm-11-20140521-UNOFFICIAL-janice and cm11.0_janice.nova.201406
Same wifi problem with cm-11-20140521-UNOFFICIAL-janice and cm11.0_janice.nova.20140601. Wifi not connecting even after giving the right password (used to work correctly with jb4.1.2 and still works with desktop) only showing saving and connecting wifi. Then the wifi connection is shown to be saved. If wifi does not work with cyanogenmod11, then what's the use of upgrading?
Is wifi is not working in any custom kitkat Rom?
Please suggest a solution.
Try couple times to connect. I remember sometimes I had to reconnect 2-3 times before it gets connection. And the problem with kernel was about WIFI not turning on at all, it was not even search SSIDs.
