Hey guys. I am new to this, and i wanted to know if it's safe to use the cyanogenmod installer to install the cyanogenmod 11 for my phone. I have already rooted the phone with towelroot and unlocked the bootloader. Also will the installer flash a custom recovery? For some reason i have been unable to access the built in recovery, i tried this only after i unlocked my boot loader. And i wish to install either CWM or TWRP. I'm a big time NOOB Looking forward to some suggestions
as xperia zr is unofficial supported cyanogenmod installer is of no use.
if you want to install cyanogenmod then install it through recovery

Hi Kash.
To get started with Cyanogenmod on the Xperia ZR (Dogo) follow these steps here: http://wiki.cyanogenmod.org/w/Install_CM_for_dogo
Since CM 11 is not officially supported, I use the excellent unofficial ROMs from the FreeXperia project: http://fxpblog.co/cyanogenmod/cyanogenmod-11/
Just download the correct ROM for Dogo and then follow the instructions as on the CM wiki.

Hi,
I've got a pretty scary problem on my hands. I tried to install CyanogenMod on my Xperia T trough CWM this morning.
I flashed my device first, wiped it with CWM itself. Then I tried to install CM from a zip I put on my SD-card before. All seemed fine at first. It said
finding update package
opening update package...
Then it just goes back to the main menu of CWM.
When I restarted, I noticed I now have a softbrick, I can only use fastboot and CWM, I tried multiple versions of CM, but they all didn't work.
So I tried to mount USB storage to CWM and that doesn't work either. It just says sdcard 0 (and 1) shared - unmounted.
What can I do to get my phone working again? I really want CM, but if that's not an option, than thats fine....
My bootloader is unlocked, and I am using CWM 6.0.4.5;
I got some error messages out of the log, not sure if theyre helpful
I: Checking for extendedcommand...
I: Skipping execution of extendedcommand, file not found...
I: Can't partition non-vfat: /storage/sdcard0(ext4)
I: Can't partition non mmcblk device: /devices/platform/msm_sdcc.3/mmc_host/mmc1

What version of CWM are you using?

Another question: is your bootloader unlocked?

My bootloader is unlocked, checked through the service shenanigans.
I'm using CWM 6.0.4.5
Hope it helps you helping me!
EDIT: Succesfully flashed android stock 4.3 onto the device, still doesn't explain why CWM didn't work. Looking for a way to install CM 10/11.

Flash stock 4.1.2
Root it and then try with this CWM: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012738
Choose v7 or v8.
DON'T download v9 because it's buggy.
Then you can install CM again
Anyway I suggest to try Omnirom for our beloved T ... since CM has still the blue screen bug that developers haven't fixed yet

FreeXperia team is who develops and lets CM work properly on our T, so the answer is: YES, you will get the same bugs unfortunately

FXP zips are good, I'm just trying to explain that every FXP release is melted with the next CM nightly any time.
Omnirom is a different project and is very stable for Xperia T, since there are developers that are working for this rom nowdays..

FXP and CM generally have the same bugs, but last time I was on FXP's CM11, I can't think of any bug aside from the terrible battery life, which might not be the same for the T since most, if not all, developers have a T (I've got a TX).
On the other hand, I'd recommend you look for ROMs first on XDA instead of through Google or the ROM developer's website, since on XDA there are developers that actually read the comments in threads and in my experience, fix problems faster. For instance, @tilal6991 has this ROM, which I don't know if it is on the official OmniROM download page, but it has had some recent updates that fix the blue screen, MHL Hdmi, and in my case, the ROM I'm on also borrows files from his ROM, which fixes battery drain while on WiFi, something that has NOT been fixed on FXP (which makes me wonder about how they "develop").

If you havent done so already try re-downloading the Gapps zip as it could be corrupt in some way, other than that it could be the recovery version so maybe try philz/TWRP if you have them.
Id strongly recommend having a look at the PA gapps packages as they are reguarly updated and offer a range of choices.

I don't think the file was corrupted sicne i've checked the md5sum and was correct.I'll try to follow your suggestions and post the results here.
By the way i've just tried the lastest CM 11 dev version but nothing changed so i guess it does not depend on CM 11 version.Could a different kernel make the difference here?
It shouldnt do I wouldnt have thought.

Hi there
Using the GT-I9000 with Android 4.4.4. (cyanogenmod Version 11-20140916 Snapshot M10 galaxysmtd, Baseband I9000XXJVT.
By the way: I'm an absolute Beginner using custom ROMS...
Right after this actually downloaded update, i have to (re)install gapps, i think. But it is not clear to me, how to act correctly. May I use the last gapps.zip published for 4.4.4, which was downloaded and installed before (pa_gapps-modular-mini-4.4.4-20140901-signed.zip)
or is it necessary to find a new Version for gapps?
If so: what is the easiest way to find a properly Version of gapps
Thanks a lot for your help
as long as the gapps package is compatible with the rom its okay to reinstall

If there is no kernel for Vanir with TWRP embedded, you can't use it. Custom recovery is embedded in same partition as kernel, so it can't be installed separately.

Exacly, TWRP will only embedded come with a kernel. I am not sure what kernel is compatible with Vanir AOSP, that has TWRP. You might look for ROM that has kernel with TWRP, and flash it with Universal Kernel Flasher. And be prepared to recover phone if you end up with a bootloop (flash same rom again if you can access recovery, or flash stock firmware).

You do not need to change it to find it, it is written in its post. I think that Omni has TWRP, and maybe Carbon. Ofcourse it needs to be 4.4 based. Look in Original Development and in Development section of our device part of this forum.

So.... 2 months ago I tried to flash CM 12.1 on my phone (S III mini). I looked in the tutorial and do the same things, but when i flashed CM 12.1 ( not Gapps ), it gives me an error. I was really scared and then I tried to reboot my device, but it said "No OS installed." So then I realised I deleted my OS. But I went to samsung service and they fixed my phone ( maybe they flashed original android). Please help me!!! I want to try to install second time CM on my phone, but i'm really scared. I dont know what it can cause that error and how to prevent that error in the future. ( i had root on my device)

Now I have cm 12.1 .zip and Gapps for Marshmallow on my PC.
Am so confused about Gapps.
What if I flashed Gapps for marshmallow along with cm 12.1 ?

The best is to install the cm12.1 gapps because maybe you will have an error if you install the M gapps..
If you want try it you can be lucky but don't play with fire every time

Well, i think that this should be more appropriate on my thread which i explain also how to install gapps, but anyway.
At any given time, you can flash ONLY the same gapps with your rom's android version. I think this has something to do with ART.

It means that I have to choose appropriate Gapps based on the Android version of custom ROM.
If it's cm12.1 , I have to flash Gapps L 5.1.x.
Okay, anyway I have to update the App after installation. Then why not to flash the updated Gapps for any custom version?
I'm New to this world of custom, so only much confusions and questions.
Thanks
