RCS is a feature that's being rolled out across the board on all networks*in the near future. It's a more reliable way of texting and will replace the native messaging capability. You can find out more about it*here.*
The HTC One is the first handset to get this service via a software update. You'll be offered to download it from the maintenance release mentioned in other posts. Once installed, it can't be removed but it can be disabled in the phone settings.
Like NFC, Bluetooth or Wi-Fi, RCS feeds can use more power on your phone so those who use the service (or a similar option like Whatsapp) may see increased power usage.
Cheers, Ben*

It enables chatting from message app
If you do not want it just don't use it.
Delete it using Titanium if you are rooted

Can someone send me the message apk to test. I debloated my phone. Please

Rich communications is Vodafone Bloatware

I was a Major poster on there and i tried to blow the whistle on this and got banned
The effected phones are HTC one, Samsung Note,S5
Samsung and HTC pulled the rom after the third party company changed there default app breeching Androids T&C
all Messages go to a third party company that possibly vodafone has shares in with other networks
But its a third party company so security on messages is out the window
For sony users there is a work around as Vodafone also tried to prevent users removing this app
well Sony users still can
disable the sync then disable ths app in Applications manager
then the stock app will work again
Vodafone state its supposed to be the new way to send sms
errrrrr no cos no one else are doing this as this idea came out in 2008
and we have moved on since then
Google hangouts any one ????

They have stolen my phone!!!

One month ago I went to Belgium and my SGS disapeared from my pocket!!!
I had to stop my simcard. I lost every hope to find it again but when I went on the market webpage I saw that my old SGS was still signed in with my Gmail account!!! But now with a different carrier name: PROXIMUS. There are weird apps that i've never installed who are displayed on my google account!!
Maybe there is a method to find my SGS with my google account??
Does anyone have an idea??
Google usually sees the network location !

Did you have any lost phone app installed? If not, make sure you install one on your replacement, phone locator pro is pretty good

There's one on the market that you can install after it's been nicked. If you search where's my droid, then check related apps, you should find it. It's a pay app but I can't remember its name
Try logging in to you google account on market.android.com and find a spy program of some kind and choose to install it, it will be automatically installed on the phone and you might be able to find enough information to track it.
Found it! It's called plan b by lookout. Good luck!
Thank you very much i'm trying those apps now I think it's frightening this guy may use my account!!

So i got a Lumia 920, but wheres Skype?

I got a Lumia 920 today, but for some reason I can't find a Skype feature in the phone or even the Skype application from the marketplace. hmm...
Beside that, the device hardware and build quality Is pretty amazing!
Skype isn't built into the phone like FB or Twitter, it's an actual app. The difference is, is that WP8 has allowed for VOIP apps new access into the OS (Skype being the first). The WP8 Skype app hasn't been released yet as of yet and is said to be "coming soon".
hixsonkevin : mate WP8 has skype integrated into the OS !
and SlashMind, probably it maybe in the update..can u tell me what version do u have on your phone?
FW revision number ??

No.... it does not. I have a WP8, and I was at the WP8 launch in SF. WP8 allows for new API's for VOIP apps such as skype to seamlessly integrate into the OS. However it is NOT built in.
I have an htc 8x, delivered yesterday, and Skype isn't baked in. The version on the Store only supports 800x480 too. WP8 version doesn't seem to be rolled out yet.
Do you have the AT&T 920 and if so did they block the NFC payment ability of it?
Also the official launch of the 920 is rumored to be November 9th I imagine they'll have something for skype then or release it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I747 using xda app-developers app
Lol..so its an app that just integrates..so well that will be a WP8 specific app.
what about native code support for WP7??
There is no native code support on WP7. Or to be really precise: some developers (Tango, Skype, Navigon) have gotten support for Native Interop but for regular developers there is no native code support and there won't be.

I have the ATT 920, NFC is on and enabled, but not sure about making payments with it.
Skype WP8 Preview is now on the WP Store.
I picked up the 920 Friday. They had all the colors except Yellow, which is what I wanted to get. So I got the Cyan color. Very nice phone. Still testing.
Here is a quick overview video I did.

I just put Skype on my new 920. It works fine but the capability to receive calls without the app open isn't there yet. Per a post by Microsoft that fuctionality is still under development. So it's not complete yet but so far what's there works fine.

Touch Test 1.0?

So I just noticed that I got a forced app download called "Touch Test 1.0" that has a black icon. Has anyone else noticed this? What is it, and why did I get it? I also noticed that it has some very spammy reviews, but I can't find any info about it.

I've read it is Sprints version of "tap to pay"
Speculation: Could be an app that will be required for the sense 6 update to add carrier bloat.

I doubt both of those guesses. It popped up for update on my LG G2. The developer was listed as "Test Account234234". It would be exceptionally unprofessional for any carrier to push an update this way. Yesterday, 4/29 the app was asking for an update. I didn't install it. Today, 4/30 it is not longer on my list.
Here's my wild guess with malicious intent: Someone wrote a program that allows itself to "update" a sprint factory default screen test app. They setup a "test account" with the google play store to see if an app could be pushed to certain model phones and replace the factory app with this version. This particular app was innocuous, but the exploit could be used for more malicious apps since most users blindly update apps.
My wild guess with innocent intentions: Someone at Sprint or a sprint contract developer goofed and sent a test app for update through the play store with the wrong account.

I hoping it fixes the random disconnects. Never happened until the last FW update, then I got one every other day and it was pretty tiresome. Also never tracked it down but I keep randomly seeing something about host stopped working as well as "cannot install app to the Gear" when turning on the phone after being off or something of that nature.

I can see it but still can't access the clocks in my gear manager after installing it. I am going back to d8. I downloaded the dd firmware for the UK and it gave me a fitness manager app. S health works now and syncs. But I started having an issue where my phone answers automatically or disconnects whenever I get a call while connected to my gear 2 neo. Also there is no us update for the dd firmware. I have searched high and low, but the knowledge and support for the gear 2 is very limited. Too many issues being reported out the box. My assumption is people who are rooted or using custom roms are having the most trouble. Good luck early adopters.
Thank you for the heads up. I'll wait

UCU2AOA1 4.4.4 Fail!
First off Android 4.4.4 has been out since June of 2014 (thanks for the speedy update AT&T) wouldn't you think this would have been an update that fixes any previous issues and possibly improved upon? 8 Months later... UCU2AOA1 4.4.4
The camera does not make an audible noise and does not turn green anymore when in focus.

Also have a look at your application manager under all, you will see a lot of new things that were never there before and it's not just for the Android 4.4.4 update. Be sure to check out the one that looks like a white pacman ghost (Sorry forgot the name of it) NSA?

I'm so sick of this crap that this is the last subsidised phone I'll bother with. Sadly, AT&Ts network is the best for me as far as service goes. There's no point in taking their phones, though. The meager savings are not worth the hassle.

fwiw, if you didn't buy one outright before, you probably ended paying more than full retail for it over the lifetime of a 2 yr contract. probably.
and yes, locked BL is a PITA for those who want to play. it's nothing new though, and att apparently has a history.

I think it should be illegal, they are infringing on owners of their phones. Not to their software and at their will. I made the sad sad mistake of picking up an unlocked att s5 and I'm on T-Mobile service since att phones work and I had an s3 running on 5.0.2 for months and loved it so I got this phone with intentions of running a custom ROM because that is what android is all about and after purchasing the hardware I should legally be able to use any software I'd like, not the previous service provider. Does that sound unreasonable?
Depends on the agreement made when buying the phone. Its all very on the second hand market because I'm not sure what the original contract states ... I would not be surprised to find very restrictive verbiage in the AT&T contract, whether enforceable or not.
The true solution is to look to the vendors selling open devices from the beginning and stay with them. Unfortunately this will almost always rule out true leading hardware devices as the prime carriers will lock them up.
