My Xperia T says that an Update is Available, 9.1.A.1.141 If I do update it using Sony's PC Companion will I lose everything apps save files? or will it just update the System? After this planning to root also. Thanks XDA.

App files wont be lost during official updates.

I don't know about the latest update but I've previously done OTA updates before and kept root (I've got a Xperia T not V).

I also had no OTA available so used PC Companion to go from 9.1.A.1.140 to .141 on my Xperia T. I don't know the differences between XT .141 and XV .145 but was able to regain root using Bin4ry's Root Many Android method
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460, it might work for you.

if you perform OTA update (via PHONE), you won't loose anything, actually USUALLY you don't loose anything, and of course, using root keeper...
that's totally obvious when you use PC Companion, you will loose root..
And for regaining root access, use DoomLord EasyRootKit, which is now available in Android Development Section, it actually covers ALL devices, including V
wish you luck
ok. ive try update it via OTA, while keep the root access using voodoo rootkeeper, but no success. the main problem here is ive installed CWM. i for got about this "Keep in mind that at the moment installing CWM will broke OTA updates, even if you unroot and/or remove CWM." so there is no chance to update it via OTA anymore right?:victory:

CHANCES are always CHANCES, so you have to try them
otherwise we wouldn't call them "Chance"
but, in theory, with aforementioned conditions, it's hard to believe that you will be able to update via OTA...

You can't...
At least not through update center or pc companion...
Just flash latest ftf using flashtool and root new firmware...
It's two click job so that shouldn't be a problem...
Just make sure you exclude wipe data option to preserve your accounts, data and apps...

Needing help on rooting and installing recovery etc

Hey everyone, I stupidly didn't backup my DRM keys so i cant update my Sony Xperia Z1 via OTA updates so now i'm stuck with custom roms
Anyways the reason i unlocked my bootloader was to get stock android installed but after doing everything i got upto the last stage of installing the zip files aka cm11 nightlies but got a strange error message on install... i got the message saying this isn't a honami device and it was a togari :S i've tried several times and decided to start from the beginning again,
Anyways starting again ive already got the bootloader unlocked successfully, now i want to successfully root but i never know what's the most recent version that can be rooted? also if i do need to downgrade to root how do i get root back from upgrading :/
alo ive tried the few and only few recoveries managers for installing custom roms but they all suck...no offence but ones i've tried seem to be causing no soo much trouble...I just want 1 recovery being Clockworkmod touch that actually works like i remember on my old samsung, asus and nexus devices
and finally if i can get back up to the stage again get stock android installed on this finally! i was tying the official nightlies of Cyanogenmod but either they do work or they dont guess it just might be my really bad experience with sony devices
I hope i can get help on this as im lost now that ive lost my keys and no backup to restore my phone meaning i cant update via pc companion or OTA updates
Simply.
Download stock firmware for you device and flash it via flashtool.

I want to install CM11 and move away from sony UI skin
Towelroot, check in android development subforum

did you check that ? stock 4.4.4 firmware for all Z1 variant
http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/development/stock-update-to-14-4-0-108-t2802266
also pls do not post 2 times... http://forum.xda-developers.com/xperia-z1/general/help-rooting-4-4-2-t2849403
You can still use official Sony tools to update, just relock your bootloader (you do not need a ta backup of your drm keys to do this, just flashtool), flash a stock ftf (as mentioned above), then use pccomapnion to update

Help on updating and rooting ZR c5503

Hello,
I'm sure my situation isn't unique, but due to the volume of posts it's very hard for me to find the specific steps I need to follow so I hope somebody knowledgeable can help me.
I have a C5503 with 4.3 with build number 10.4.1.B.0.101. I rooted it with towelroot and I have SuperSU installed. I've uninstalled some Sony and Google apps (chrome, magazine, etc.) that I considered inconsequential but my unit has not encountered any problems so far. The update app tells me I have an OTA update available - 10.5.A.0.230, and I've ignored it forever. However, the Sony PC Companion program in my laptop tells me I have the 10.5.1.A.0.283 update available instead.
Now, the reason I'm writing this is because I've suddenly decided that I want to update my phone to 4.4.4 but I don't want to lose root. So I tried to download the OTA update and tried to install it after. I got an error that said it couldn't install the update and to try again. I could just update my phone via the PC companion software, but going that route would remove root and wipe my phone data and apps, which I don't want to happen.
What is the best course for me? Thank you.

I have run into a much bigger problem that I will open a new thread for. Please delete this thread as it is no longer relevant. Apologies and thank you.

Download flashtool
Download ftf file of. 157 kitkat for your phone's model
Install flashtool and drivers Google it also if you are using Windows 8 or higher some additional steps are required to install drivers
Switch off your phone
Once done open flash tool click on lightning icon select flashmode
Browse through your pc for downloaded ftf file select it and click on flash button
Now wait and once the dialogue box appears with phone's animation
Connect your phone along with pressing volume down button
Then once dialogue box disappears release volume button and let it do its thing
Then disconnect your phone and turn it on when flashtool says so in logs
Now you have kitkat..!!
I too, thinking of rolling back down to KK
Reason being battery drains faster, intense lagging in some apps, like what's app. Lag in games. Random reboots already more than my time in KK and it'd less than 2 weeks.
