Possible yellow bar improvement. - ONE Themes and Apps

Here is a thread I found in the one plus one forum of an app that puts an overlay on the bottom part of the screen. You can adjust the tint to help eliminate the yellow bar at the bottom. So far it seems to have help quite a bit. Check it out and let me know what you think.

Safe Metamorphs?

I know a few people are using some and I thought a thread may be useful just to post ones you got to work and maybe a link so people stop asking in the homescreen thread.
I'm using the black notification bar right now located here:
droidpirate.com/2011/01/14/metamorph-notification-bar-black/
I'm going to attempt a background for it in a few and maybe a lock screen.
What has everyone else gotten to work?

I've got most of the Battery icons as well as the Black Notification bar to work. Everything else, NADA.

[Q] Looking for signal status bar icon(HELP)

i want signal status bar icon purple colour as in this theme please if any one can help me finding the icons of this theme
edit framework .....
please any one
That's not the signal icons, they're on the left side. Its probably an icon for widgetlocker or something.
Check out the 'MIUI homescreen' thread, find a screenshot with the purple ribbon then ask someone for the png.

Auto hide hardware buttons for extra screen estate?

Wouldn't it be nice if there was a way that the onscreen hardware buttons could be hidden to gain more screen estate.
Much like the notification bar at the top of the screen, there must be a way to develop a "drag up" option for the bottom of the screen to expose the 3 hardware buttons when you need them.
Anyone else like to see such a mod?
Anyone any ideas as to how easy or not this would be to develop?
Thanks in advance....

Sounds like a very good idea. In the meantime there is thread in the theme section with a MOD that will make them a lot smaller.
Its this one [THEME][MODs] Original Theme Project | Xperia T |
Wow, that's a brilliant idea! Give the idea to AOKP developers perhaps? Although it could slow down the phone...

Thanks for your feedback everyone. I think a potential comprise maybe to consolidate the status bar and notification bar at the bottom of the screen, like the tablets.
I think this is done in the paranoid android jb Rom, though the Rom seems to have a few bugs. Be nice if it was possible in ics stock Roms.
Anyone know which dev I should pm to enquire about the above 2 ideas?

Never understood the whining about on-screen buttons taking screen space.

Its one of those things that is just so ridiculous. When you buy a phone with on-screen buttons its so obvious that the actual screen won't be as big as a phone with the same screen size but hard buttons. How is this difficult to understand for so many people is beyond me.
The main purpose of on-screen buttons is to allow for a flexible and dynamic navigation not to maximize screen space.
Default size for navbar is the issue, indeed it look ridiculous and rather goofy IMHO. Luckily custom ROMs allow it to be shrunken or removed and replaced with pie.

Yes, though I myself was disappointed, moving from a 4.0 inch (with the buttons not on the screen( to a 4.3 inch device (with the buttons taking screen space), and seeing very little difference.
PIE/custom ROMs are the workaround, but for "most" users, the workable screen area is not what is implied.

was kinda disappointed how much they take space the nav bar buttons on stock...but again at the same time i just got used to it..simple really..and with XDA well you know how awesome these guys are
@GAMBLER - the reason of crating a separate thread is actually beyond me and not people being different and having different preferences and different needs. So I don't really understand what's your point, as people can decide better what's good and what's not for themselves and with android they have plenty of options to change things the way they want it. Also its only software buttons so you can do whatever you want with them, if everyone was complaining about the hardware buttons taking space then it would be different story

I think it's ok, but the black space around the keys are a waste... there's a lot of pixel lines to take away from the nav bar...
I like it, it makes the phone much easier to use. My same sized One X with it's lower down capacitive buttons would become uncomfortable after a while of repetitive thumb moving.

Its a forum for discussion, his topic is related to Nexus 4 and is general. It doesnt matter if he wants to talk about a nexus 4's processor/ram/camera or the shape of the fingerprint he found on the screen, i think he's entitled.

It would be very interesting if they made a transparent nav bar where maybe buttons pop up when you press them or the symbols float over the app.. Or maybe the symbols are floating but with an inverted color scheme like the windows XP inverted mouse o.o

@younix yes your are absolutely right it is forum and it is for discussion. But what I don't like is the generalisation and the tone. If it was written in a different way maybe then it would be perfectly fine as it would invite for discussion.
Also it's best when ideas are supported by some facts and not just bashing something without concrete support.
But then again its my opinion and whether you agree or not its up to you.

Well I can see WHY people are concerned with the buttons taking up real-estate, but I don't agree with it. I'd much rather have the on-screen buttons rather than the alternative: hard buttons.
And I get the concerns that the stock buttons are too large. I kind of agree, however I'm pretty used to it so I'm indifferent about any changes. Right now I'm using PIE anyway.
I think it would look nice if they take away the black background (make it fully transparent) and separate the buttons.
The transparency would give a feel of a bigger screen, and we'd still have the buttons, circle/square or whatever shape, separated from one another, as if they're floating over the wallpaper.

Because it consumes the space of the display yet the phone still looks like it was meant to have capacitive buttons below. (That huge space below that is ruled by a small led light!? Hell lg or google can place that damn led light near the sensors)
I'm going to buy a nexus 4 soon . but I don't think it will take much place. I hope I'm right..

The first thing I did after rooting and installing custom ROM was reducing the navbar size
Stock navbar is ugly as hell !

I have mine 85% transparent and 65% of normal height. It doesn't look right transparent when using an app though so only when on the launcher.

Almost every custom ROM I've seen lets you change the nav bar height. Others will let you change the colour and set transparency.
This is really easy, if you don't like onscreen buttons, don't buy a nexus.
I never understood all the complaining about the onscreen buttons also, for the people that don't like it, I will suggest to get another phone.

I prefer capacitive buttons on a phone or mini tablet. Maybe its just what I am use to. In didn't fancy the nav bar on my n7 and I really didn't care for pie controlls. On my note 10.1 I think they work flawless andthe screen is so large that I don't feel I am missing anything. I don't understand why people hate capacitive buttons if you don't like them you are not forced to use them. But it's ok we all have preference and neither is right or wrong but just an opinion.
