[Q] Offline gps not working on Sprint M7? - One (M7) Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi, I am having issues with offline gps on my sprint m7. The thing is when I set the location mode device only (use gps to determine your location) and open an offline map app like GPS nav&maps it says "no position found". I had the same problem with other apps like maps with me. I am running stock android 4.4 with sense 6.0. Is there any way to fix this issue? It is very annoying since the gps won't work outdoors or indoors. Thanks!

Google Maps Problems

Is anyone else here experiecing problems with the 'My Location' function on Google Maps?
I have installed the latest pubicly available (2.1xx?) version of Google Maps and am finding that it is struggling to pinpoint my location properly - it seems to be out by several miles on occasion.
I have seen threads elsewhere saying the best solution is to grab a previous version that worked fine, but cannot find one.
Any help would be appreciated.
Apologies if this is an "obvious" thing you've tried already but is the GPS actually activated when you're trying to get your location?
I have the latest version and it gives me a location about two miles off.......until I put the GPS on, then it immediately goes straight to above my head!
Maybe GPS isn't turned on.
If GPS isn't on, it uses cell towers to guess where you are, approximently. It triangulates between 2-3 towers and gives a general location. Turn on the GPS and it should get right on.
I've just noticed:
you have the latest PUBICly available version!?!
my location doesn't even work for me anymore. I've tried the new 2.1 and the older 2.0.1 version but both don't work. GPS obviously work but I don't want to wait for the time to lock.

[Q] My GPS hasn't worked since updating to 2.2 - help! - RESOLVED

Hi,
I got a Samsung Galaxy S here in Australia, rooted it and upgraded from 2.1 to 2.2 I know that GPS worked just fine with 2.1, I was able to walk home and see my position updating very nicely on Google maps
Since updating to 2.2, GPS hasn't worked at all. When I turn it on, and start an application that uses GPS (Navigation, Maps, etc), the GPS icon sits there and flashes back and forth between those two types of icons and I don't get anything on the maps which shows me where I am. I haven't chased this up since upgrading, but it's starting to bug me now
After searching these forums for 'gps not working', I've pulled down the 'GPS test' application and I don't know for sure, but it appears to find one satellite:
PRN SNR Elev Azim Flags
2 11.0 74.0 150.0
But the GPS icon just sits there flashing back and forth.
I may have missed something since upgrading, do I need to do something to the phone to get my GPS working again?
Thanks!
OK, I seem to have fixed the problem I turned on "Use wireless networks" and voila! I now have successful GPS lock and position in my maps
I would have thought that you could use GPS without having "Use wireless networks" turned on!?

Wouldn't call it a successful GPS lock. Since you got it with the mobile networks. (in my case when I use it . the accuracy in my village is about 1000-1500m since the BTS is that much far from me )
So if you get into an area with weak mobile networks, wont help you much .
Wouldnt call this as resolved with "BAD GPS" cuz your GPS still sucks as before (and doesnt work , you just found a workaround that was there also before , 2.2.1 has even some other function for GPS that tries to fix it (or help?) )
But since you can use it now, its ok I guess . OH and there are kinda almost no real fixes for this. Most of SGS GPS suck . There is GPS aids, shutting down wifi, GPS status app, changing the something according to your country.
Ok!
I got the same problem as the user from the post.
GPS worked like a charm on my Galaxy S (NDrive or Google) running 2.1.
I updated it to Froyo 2.2.1 JS7 and since then it doesn`t work anymore.
I can't get a fix.
I did the GPS position test and It locks on 8 satelites. Why the F%CK it doesn`t work anymore?
I am almost going back to Eclair.
Any sugestions?
TY!
So you get a lock when doing the GPS test, but no luck in any other applications? I couldn't get a lock at all until I turned on my wireless as well as the GPS, then it worked for GPS test as well as applications...
I get a lock on 8 satelites on the Location Test with and without "Use Wireless connections".
BUT
I can't get a lock when I am using Google maps, with or without "Use Wireless connections".
I bought the AIDS GPS app on Market, but it did't work neither.

I also installed GPS Aids and paid for it.
This program does automatic changes to your GPS settings.
Maybe it works for you.

[Q] Why my Bionic never gets a GPS fix?

Since the JB update, my phone can never get a GPS fix. I have used both GPS Status & GPS Test which, after 30 min outside in an open area, briefly found up to 7 satellites but no GPS fix. Maps and Nav refuse to work without a proper GPS fix. Suggestions?
EDIT: Here is a video of how I got it working, which seems hardware: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c6XyGOrO6-4

[Q] GPS sometimes cannot lock on satellite

Hi,
I'm a new user here, I have read some here before when I wanted to update my old HTC Desire to something fresher
However, after some time I decided to just upgrade and I bought the HTC One Google Edition.
It worked great for months, no issues at all.
The GPS was working great in all parts of the country (Belgium)...
However, recently, I'm having some weird issues.
In certain parts of the country, my GPS drops out and does not view any satellites. It's only the GPS on my One. I have checked the same area on my Car's GPS and my Desire, and they have perfect GPS signal.
It's always the same area, btw. When driving to work, I know when I'll loose signal. And only when I'm driving home after work, when I reach that same point, I'll lose the connection again...
I did a factory data reset but this didn't work.
I read in some google results to disable google+ and this appeared to help quite some people, but I disabled almost all google apps, and still cannot lock onto GPS in certain areas.
Earlier today, I figured out that in those areas, I manage to get a GPS signal when going into Airplane mode.
However, when I go out of Airplane mode, I will lose the signal again...
I have disabled:
Drive
Earth
Google Hindi/Korean/Pinyin Input
Google Play Books/Music
Google Play services
Google+
Keep
Maps
The only apps I have installed since the factory reset are WhatsApp, Ingress and GPS Test and GpsFix (but these don't help).
Please let me know what kind of information I need to provide which would help you help me
Does anyone have any idea of what I could try to fix this, please?
I'm desperate...
thanks

You can turn on the wifi and check.
Wifi doesn't have to be connected to any network, it will just boost the signal and help you lock the location quicker
I also have the issue, I use HTCj one (Japanese version).
I think this maybe caused by AGPS or your sim card.
When I use wcdma or gsm sim card ,GPS works fine. but if i use cdma sim card , satellite can't be locked.
Swtich to Airplane mode ,works again.

Location using WiFi and mobile network - not working

Hello all,
I have the S5 Mini Duos (SM-G800H) with Android 4.4.2, rooted, everything works nice, good battery life, except the following:
Location does not work indoor and some times in the car. GPS can lock on satellites when in open sky but sometimes in the car the signal is lost. For that times the phone should take it's general location from WiFi and mobile networks, which it does not because when I set the Location mode to "power saving", disabling the GPS sensor, the phone never shows an estimate location (a large blue circle in Google Maps), in fact Google Maps gets a very poor location overall, even when outside and GPS on, the location is not precise, the direction of my movement is not pointing, I only use Waze and it works but it works so much better on an iPhone, in car or inside when I try to check-in or search or Google Maps, I can't do anything inside with the S5 Mini.
Since I am trying to get a location from WiFi and mobile networks I guess it is not a problem of GPS sensor. What can I do to have a location (general location not accurate) inside using networks? Should an update to 5.1.1 can cure this? Can I try something before the update which can be tricky to do as there is no official release yet?
LE: Baseband version: G800HXXU1ANGF / Build number: KOT49H.G800HXXU1ANH2
Thank you!
In my case after updating to lollipop (stock) everything worked fine
Try to update might work as well
Hi all, I have installed 5.1.1, TWRP and rooted using the checklist here and yes it now takes the location from wifi&mobile network.
Still no improved location on GPS (in the car with Waze still do not show the triangle moving as it should do with a good 3D location set).
5.1.1 is a good experience overall, much improved notifications, speed is also good, battery life good with some tweaks and killing some samsung and google apps.
But, this morning my phone (not touched) said it is not rooted anymore (when trying to check wakelocks), and when I tried to restart it started to boot loop. Had to do all the installations again. Hope will not happen again.
Hi all,
After a few days ago I have reinstalled again 5.1.1 and rooted it, today in the middle of the day when trying to launch Titanium Backup, the root was gone again. Now it is loop rebooting What is wrong? The 5.1.1 build, the TWRP or the SuperSU?
