Hey everyone.. Since I did not know that flashing cm11 on system 2 is not possible.. I tried to flash the ROM by formatting system and everything without even taking a backup.. I am now on cm11 on system 1 and nothing on system 2.. Any workaround to get system 2 up and running lime before
Ps: I also tried flashing wiui ROM on system 1 but the screen only showed some white lines on the screen and then installation aborted

Do you have True Dual Boot enabled? If yes then download full V23 ROM from below link and boot into CM11, copy that rom in your Phone, now boot into CWM and flash this zip in System2 after formatting System2 and performing datawipe on System2 for a fresh start of MIUI.

I've flashed custom roms many times, but I have a couple questions regarding Texas ICS p10.
Currently running:
MeDroid 4.1.
BlackRose with System 220MB Cache 16MB Data 200MB
Amon’s RA recovery
Here's a checklist of what I should do:
Backup everything.
Update Blackrose to system 210 / cache 8 / userdata 218.
Wipe everything / factory reset 3 times
What do I need to do regarding formatting/partitioning the sdcard? ext4? setting dalvik cache to use sdext or data partition? In Amon's RA recovery, I have a "partition sdcard" option, with options to
- Partition SD
- Repair SD:ext
- SD:ext2 to ext3
- SD:ext3 to ext4
Do I need to do anything to get a2sd working other than rebooting a couple times?
Flash Texas' p10.
Flash google apps.
Restore.
Done.
Thanks in advance.
Sounds like you got it
if you are ext4 from medroid, you should be fine--not sure, but ext3 may work too
your current partition sizes are ok
see this on a2sd
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21222591&postcount=1374
i think you only rin a2sd install one time
i went to p10 and tiamets kernel and had some issues, restored back to p9 and lost my app links--even a sdcard reformat didn't work with p9 so went back to a medroid nandroid
haven't had time figure it out
medroid 6.1 is pretty stable for me
Ken
How can I check if the sdcard is formatted as 4ext?
Isn't it dangerous having a cache partition of only 8 MB?
Sent from my Nexus One using Tapatalk
maybe gparted or a partition tool program
i am having sdcard issues atm so can't test--terminal em can check, forget command, but sometimes it wasn't accurate for me
i don't know that 8mb is dangerous--some larger apps may not work right--depends how rom handles them. cm7 handles them well--miui doesn't--or so folks say
Don't know about 8MB cache, but it's kinda vurnerable to have only 210MB system partition now. If you have any plan to switch to other ics rom, i.e. MeDroidMod, you'll only have a little size left, or even nothing left. I repartizied back to 220/16/200, which is acceptable for any rom.
Sent from my Nexus One
Ok, so I followed the checklist I listed above. p10 stalls at the blue X boot logo for 10 minutes now. Anyone know why it's doing this? I'm going to go do a full wipe/repartition/reinstall again. I left my hboot alone, as suggested twice.
Actually, I opened blackrose and it automatically installed the latest blackrose, which put my phone in recovery and apparently wiped the rom??? Anyway, now I couldn't change hboot partitions anyway, so I proceeded with the rest of the checklist...
Have a 220/16/200 partition?
Boot into recovery, if you have 4ext recovery, you can format everything except sdcard, then flash p10 & gapps.
Sent from my Nexus One
Yeah, I have that partition. I just wiped everything, repartitioned the sdcard and reflashed... currently 8 minutes in the boot animation...
Not sure what to do from here.
Installed latest medroid 1.3.2a and it just keeps booting back into recovery.... hrm.
Do I need to flash a boot img as described here?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=22731102#post22731102
Ok, it installed. Updating blackrose, which took out my ROM for some reason, reverted to the default hboot as far as I can tell. I put the 220 version back on wiped and reflashed and it booted just fine.
Ended up using Medroid 1.3.2a instead of TexasIce p10. Even though p10 has HWA, it has bugs (browser rendering on zoom takes 2 seconds, sometimes longer) and isn't as fast as Medroid in general.
just got 1.3.2a and is running great
samuaz is loading HWA version now, but may have same issues as T's
First boot on ICS may take a while ! Just chill out ^^

the error is stating that while backing up recovery is not able to mount /system
try to mount /system before backing up rom. it can be mounted from mount and storage option
try to reflash latest cwm which is 5.0.2.8
try to wipe cache and dalvik cache before backing up
I think this problem is with stock ROM Or GB.
I was Flashing Emanom v5
I want to backup GB to restore when in need but, CWM v4 throws this errorBackup error
E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
I Prepared:
1, Flashed GB through odin without SD mounted and android booted.(with sound in Samsung Logo)
2, Changed some Settings in Android
2a, Rebooted again with Mounted SD(to check if booting ssuccesfully with partitioned SD)
3, Now Rebooted to downloading mode
4, Flashed CMW Recovery v4
4a, Here Android succesfully booted, then I Rebooted in CWM.
5, In CWM, it show the error- E: Can't open /cache/recovery/log
6, when I tried to backup it doesn't
7, Wiped data + Cache
8, Re-tried to backup but it throws that err again.
9, Now I booted Android it does'nt boots(show Samsung Logo but no Sound and boot loops)
So I left off and Flashed Emanom
with whole process skipping steps 5-9
Here With Emanom v5, in CWM Recovery
That Error Again but when I backed up successufully towing error again.
Now what Step I left or any wrong do I did.
If backup-ing GB is possible then we could just restore it to flash any custom ROM without flashing through Odin and requirement of computer.

if it is backed up i think it can be restored easily.
but to make it compatible with stock rom the person(squad) who ported the recovery needed to make the recovery compatible with rfs partition but its compatible with ext partition
Hi!
I have a little problem with my SGS. I used from a month CM 10.1 ROM and Semaphore 2.9.3 kernel. Today phone start up and after a few minutes restart into recovery. I tried reinstall ROM, recover backup etc but has no effects. I tried also flash Samsung JVP ROM (3 files, with re-partition) but phone restart like boot loop problem.... After all that i tried wipe all data/factory reset, format every partition. No errors shows in CWM but all data still are on partition data :/
Summary i can't format/erase data from partition:
data,
cache,
datadata,
sdcard (internal)
In CWM all partition format show results "Done" but data still are there.
But I can flash new system into system or new kernel into boot partition.
Any idea without NAND is dead ?
got pic on error? maybe dbdata
Sent from my GT-I9000 using xda premium
Ok...
Actually a I have lastest CM 10.1 and Semaphore kernel 3.0.0
When I tired CWM/Mounts and Starage Menu/format /data
See first attachment
After I go to CWM/advanced/show log:
See second attachment
And data on partition /data are still there...
Hi,
could the warning in the second screenshot be the Problem????
Okay it's only a warning not an error...but maybe that is the prob...
I searched about this warring "Wipe via secure discard failed, used discard" but I not found anything useful.
That's Bad :crying:
Another idea: Flashing back to an older Version of CWM-Recovery and then testing if data partition can be cleaned up...
Another question is : what means the Option "Wipe via secure discard"??? what is the effect, anyone knows???

Flash raw r4 kernel from recovery. Then reboot into recovery. Go to mounts and storage and format system, data and cache. Then flash the new rom.

2.boot to philz recovery install raw r4 kernel
3.reboot to recovery now is CWM-BASED RECOVERY V6.0.4.4
4.went to mounts and storage and format system data cache
5.installed sweetrom v11.1_LTA rebooted
6.stuck on boot screen
7.tested omni rom again the same it stays on boot screen
when i try to install from the sd card i see that there is an extra partition sd card0 and sd card1 on the first partition it contains lost dir,twrp/,clockwokmod and the other one my roms shouldnt be only one????
any other idea?
One is your internal and other is external sd. When you say stuck on boot screen? What exactly do you see? The Samsung flashing logo? Of that then it takes a while to boot.

Failed to mount efs? Hmm.. Check in your internal sd card if you have any file named efs backup or efs auto backup of 20 MB in size?

Sorry I think you are confused...You have flashed raw kernel for 4.4 roms, then you've installed sweetrom that is 4.1...I'm sure that you stuck on boot. Search for a 4.4x rom, flash raw kernel and you'll see will work. with raw, internal sdcard is /emmc. If you want to install sweetrom you have to flash Philz kernel. See roms threads.

Flash PhilZ kernel again and then flash aroma file manager to check if there is an efs backup in the internal storage.

after flashing with odin you should wipe data and cache then reboot!
Hello,
since today my Galaxy S 3 - 9305 is not booting up properly anymore. I did not change anything regarding the os, it just happed today when the phone was stuck in an endless bootanimation.
In reaction to that i did boot to recovery and cleared /cache and dalwik-cache in cwm. This showed no effect. Afterwards I did the same and also formated the /system partition before I installed the last CM 11 nightly build. But this still changed nothing. I made an full backup with cwm to the external sd. After that I did a factory reset. Now the system started probably. When I tried to load the /(data partition from the backup with cwm the same problem appeared again.
How can I fix this? How can I get my /data from the backup?
Thanks!
