How do you backup apps and app settings without rooting?
I have tried Kies Air and Android Manager but they don't work.
My wireless ip that the apps say I should register is 192.168.2.14, but when I do an ipconfig, only 192.168.2.13 shows up. I can't ping 192.168.2.14. I've also tried reinstalling my wireless card drivers and resetting my computer.
I read that with 2.2, Google supposedly backs-up your app settings, but it doesn't! My phone crashed and I reinstalled all the same apps manually and none of the app settings came back! For example, for call block apps, I had to input all the blocked numbers again manually.
Is there a USB based solution or an app that will backup app settings?
Just get titanium backup from the market!

I think Titanium requires root to work..
Hi everyone I want to remove the default phone and internet app from my phone. I know how to remove others by just deleting the apk in system/app like the gallery and FM radio, but the phone app is different you get force closes.
I'm using dialler one and opera instead but the default ones still pop up sometimes and because I've changed my dpi to 192 the phone app looks crap and annoying.
Can someone help with this please I did a search and couldn't find anything but to be honest the search in the xda app is below par.

Hi, i use Titanium Backup for this. It can backup, freeze and uninstall any app.
First i freeze system apps i do not like, so they are still there are can not be used by user or system. If there is no side effect after using mobile and reboot i uninstall app.
Hope this helps - Cheers
You need to be rooted to remove system apps.
Yeah thanks I am rooted used titanium never even thought of trying that have done the phone app but still unsure on the android browser.

Hi
then first freeze it with Titanium, it doesn't hurt
Given 4.1.1 is probably going to be the very last update for AT&T Atrix HD users (Bell guys are lucky with the 4.1.2!), what are we gonna do about this bug? Are we stuck with this problem for good?
In 4.1.1 whenever you switch your default keyboard to any other keyboard (say, SwiftKey or even Swype), the third party keyboard gets disabled on reboot and the OS will switch to the default/stock keyboard. This is not the end of problems.
There is the annoying status bar notification for changing input methods every time the keyboard opens. The only way to disable this from popping up is to have only one active input method. Given the stock keyboard cannot be unchecked in settings, the only way to have only one keyboard that you want (say, SwiftKey for example) is to freeze/disable the stock keyboard app leaving SwiftKey as the only available input method.
Normally, this would work fine. But in 4.1.1, because the OS disables the third party keyboard and tries to reset back to the default keyboard on reboot, when it can't find it, goes into a crash loop leaving factory reset from the recovery as the only option of making the phone usable.
Does anyone have any suggestions to solve this particular conundrum?
Here is the solution I have found:
-install swiftkey from market
-use titanium backup root to backup the app
-uninstall the app
-restore backup (app only)
However, this is only a workaround and every time SwiftKey app or language updates, the OS disables SwiftKey on reboot and defaults to the stock keyboard. So, don't disable the stock keyboard for now unless you want to risk a factory reset every time SwiftKey app or data updates through the market. This workaround also doesn't address the problem of having the annoying input devices prompt in the status bar every time you use the keyboard.
More ingenious ideas / suggestions welcome.

I have 4.1.1 and use swype as my keyboard. It has never once switched back to the default keyboard on a reboot. I have not having this issue at all.
I have 4.1.1 on my Atrix HD and I use SwiftKey 3. Never had this problem.

I don't have this issue, and I switch keyboards depending on the number of hands I'm using! Another friend with an Atrix HD also does not face this issue...

Did you install SwiftKey 3 from the Play Store before you upgraded from ICS to JB OTA? If yes, that is expected.
But if you installed the app afresh in JB or updated the app or language after you had upgraded to JB, you would have this problem.
Swiftkey Flow, Swype, Swype Beta 1.3, Smart Keyboard Pro...everything works fine without having the issue you're facing!

Like mentioned on the link above, a lot of people are facing. Did you install them all afresh in 4.1.1?
Try uninstalling all of them from the Play Store today, reinstall them again from the Play Store and see if it still works.

That might explain it! I installed SwiftKey as soon as I could when I got the phone!

When I reboot, not only do I lose my SwiftKey 3 keyboard, but my phone removes any active widgets I have on any of myscreens. AT&T sent me out another HD, andit still happens?!?!

This is a confirmed issue for all paid apps in 4.1.1.
Google has, however, corrected it in 4.1.2.
Only fix is to run a custom rom.

If you are on stock JB, your phone is rooted and it lags for 5-10 seconds after you install an application from Google Play or apk try this:
Install NoBloat Free from Google Play. https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.tvkdevelopment.nobloatfree
Disable Smart Log Service using NoBloat Free and restart your phone.
Note: You can use your favorite application to disable the service, i.e. Titanium Backup. I mentioned NoBloat Free because it's simple and easy to use.

As its name suggests, it is a logging service application.
If you have not disabled it yet, goto hidden menu (3845#*880#), click Smart Log Service and you will see the items it is related to.
It works..without lags after instaling apps, ty

I Uninstalled google docs, slides and google plus using system app remover.
But they just come back on my phone after sometime.
So, how do I deleted them permanently?

Dont delete.. Freeze them using App Quarantine. They wont run

Assuming your phone is rooted, try uninstalling them permanently using Titanium Backup pro or try 360 security app which is free. It has an option to allow root access and remove any system integrated bloats. I've used both of them and they work 100percent of the time.
