I have searched the Internet and forums for days and can't find a solution to my problem. I have found a few with the same problem, but no solutions. Please help!
I have a Sprint HTC Touch Diamond 6950SP (DIAM500) running the original ROM. A few months ago and for no apparent reason, it stopped recognizing the battery and stopped accepting a charge. I haven't messed with the phone in any way or attempted to load a new ROM. The Power Status screen simply shows, "Main battery: Unknown". Plugging the phone in with the supplied charger will actually discharge the battery and the circular LED does not come on. I tried several soft and hard resets; then I downloaded and flashed the ROM with the one from the Sprint web site (WM 6.1 Professional 5.2.20764/Build 20764.1.4.3), but nothing seemed to help. I found that I could get the battery to charge by removing the battery (with the phone plugged into the charger) and then putting it back in. When the circular LED flashes twice, I remove the battery and wait till it flashes two more times, and then put the battery back in. This takes many attempts, and eventually the LED continues to flash and will charge the battery. I did this for a long time while I searched for a solution, and one day, it just started working again!!! The phone worked great for several months and suddenly, it has started doing the same thing again.
I decided to upgrade to WM 6.5 and downloaded all the necessary applications, (many thanks to XDA and friends). But, when I attempted to flash my ROM, it stopped and indicated that my battery was too weak - even though I new it had a full charge, (see battery status, above). I've checked the battery with a multimeter, therefore, I know it has a full charge. I don't have any other problems with the phone, nor do I have any problems with it sincing to my computer. I have since ordered a new battery, but it hasn't arrived yet. Someone please help.
Thanks.
I have read at other posts that the Diamond's battery has a recognition chip in it. Also, without the battery, it will not run from the charger. Could the chip in the battery be bad? Has anyone else had this problem?
Is there a registry fix (or tweak) for the battery status? Please, one of you must know something about this.
Got my new battery - the phone does not power up, charge or anything else with the new battery. I tried charging the new battery with the method I've tried before, (see above), but it won't even light the circular LED. I checked the new battery with a multimeter, and it shows it has 3.7 volts. Now what? Any ideas would be appreciated.
that happened to me for a little while. idont know what it was but it wouldnt charge using the usb cable to any computer or even the a/c adapter but it would charge with another wall charger i had. after a couple days a friend had his psp over and i charged my phone with his cable on my computer like nothing and after wards it all worked again

I have tried other cables and chargers, but none have helped. Last time my phone started working properly, I had plugged it in to my computer, but that hasn't happened this time. Thanx for your comments - keep 'em coming.
I purchased a new charger/docking station for my phone and spare battery. It wouldn't charge my phone or the new battery I purchased either. The new battery still will not work in my phone - paper weight! The charger does charge my old battery, though. Does anyone know if you can run a Touch Diamond from the USB/charging cable without the battery installed? Mine won't, but I was wondering if it should.
Hey man
you know that happend to me when i first flashed my diamond for metro i bought a new battery and nuthing changed so what i did was a hard reset and it fixed it for me but i dont know thats just me and if u want to try it make sure u back up ur contacts with PIM backup hope u fixe it

Thanks, Krzynate! I tried that already, many times now, (see my first post in this thread). Thanks anyway and please keep the posts coming.
I had the same problem.. I ended up buying a new battery and it wouldn't charge in my phone. So I ordered an external charger from EBAY for 10$. My new battery is charging so It might be the solution you are looking for.
Thank you so much for posting! As I wrote previously,
(I purchased a new charger/docking station for my phone and spare battery. It wouldn't charge my phone or the new battery I purchased either. The new battery still will not work in my phone - paper weight! The charger does charge my old battery, though.), this did not fix my problem. The vender that sold me the new (bad) battery is sending me another one - hopefully, it will work this time.
It's Fixed!!!
I wrote the Internet store where I purchased the non-working battery. They sent me another battery and now it's fixed!!! The battery indicator and status all recognize the new battery! Apparently, there is a recognition chip in the battery; the original battery's chip's software became corrupted, and the other "new" battery's chip was blank. The original battery still works, (as long as I charge it with the external charger), and still has an unrecognized status in WM 6.1. Please pass this info on to others that have simular problems. Thanx XDA!
Hi guys, i know this is an old issue but i didn't what to search for, and i think i read it somewhere, but something weird happened: i flashed a new rom and while i was installing apps and configuring my battery was discharging(logic) so i decided to plug it in to my usb cable (i was/am at my pc) and continue what i was doing but the battery was discharging instead of charging....
Hi,
VVnoob so please be gentle. I have searched but problems not exactly the same.
I have the samsung I9305 4g lte.
My phone will not charge and gets hot. When plugged in without the battery it still gets hot (unplugged vquickly) and does not come on. I see nothing, no battery sign, no light.
The last time i charged the phone, it didn't seem to charge and with a little change of position it did. I then used it and went to charge it at about 15% battery, (usually when the phone is off as its quicker (still an age) but can't remember on this occasion.....as) then next time i looked, no charge at all.
Nothing has happened in between times. Could this just be a need to change usb charge cable? The port does seem like there is play in the cable when its in, is this normal? The surge protector tells me charge goes through (Thailand though so not sure if power is regular) and obviously the phone gets hot but nothing else. It is clean, not used all the time as a normal phone and out and about irregularly. I really need it though and it cost me a lot of money and would appreciate any help.
It is not rooted (I dont know enough of what i'm doing!) and aside from some apps on it i have not done any form of fancy modification. I am using original samsung usb cable/charger adapter. It will be updated to whatever version samsung has updated to so I'm not sure what android OS its running or anything else.
Any help appreciated. Apologies for being verbose!
you may try to change the cable as every cable have its life cycle even the stock one
Hi, I know this is a fairly repeated topic, however I am really desperate to fix this as I have really important info in my phone that just won't start after the battery died.
A bit about my device:
Bought in March 2013
Could not switch on at all, after the battery died last Tuesday 9 Sept 2015
Past few weeks it has been charging intermittently (I thought that it was really a loose cable) but it charged normally on other cables including plugging into my iMac. This time it actually turned off completely whilst I was charging it on my iMac and I still can't get it to turn on.
Tried solutions: Replaced my phone battery with a fairly new battery from my mum's phone (she uses the same model) and it still won't start. Recovery mode also didn't work.
I am afraid if it had bricked itself?
I have thought about going to Samsung service centre, but I am afraid that they will wipe off my data, I really really need to retrieve all my info, at least to jump start the device. I have a lot of precious information in there. I am thinking of removing the board and putting it into a new S3 mini case, to see if it could actually start, or try to read the NAND chip? Yes I've been reading up on all sorts of solutions. I'm really feeling anxious. If anyone has any advice, please help share. Thank you so much. I'm very desperate :crying:
Phone: Samsung Galaxy SIII LTE GT-I9305
Problem: It doesn't turn on or charge, absolutely no reaction
ROM: Stock KitKat 4.4.4
The phone had the stock KitKat 4.4.4 flashed by me in 2016. For about 4 years everything was ok, it only occasionally hanged up so it needed to be restarted by removing battery or holding volup+power. Also at the end the charging port sometimes caused little problems so it was a lil fussy about the cable. Half a year ago the phone was replaced by a new one, so it was shutted off and put 'as is' into the locker without removing the battery (was fully charged before). Few days ago, when I needed it as a backup phone it doesn't boot up or charge the battery - there is absolutely no reaction. The battery measured by micrometer showed 3.87V - I've fully charged it in an external charger. I also cleaned the charging port and folded back the pins in it. Checked with the multimeter the contracts looks good, the current is able to flow. Anyway the phone is not charging and nothing happens when I'm pressing the power or even the mode combinations volumeup/down key + home + power for more than 30 seconds. It looks like there is flowing a 0.11A current and a battery voltage drops about 0.06V when it's connected to charger and I'm pressing the power button. The power button itself is ok, I've tested it with a multimeter. Nothing changes when I'm connecting the charger directly for the pins for battery.
So I've checked on the web that there is a common problem in that models called "sudden death" so the memory gets damaged after some time if using the stock old kernel. It had the symptoms (hangs, restarts) but I even didn't know about that problem, and I only know that it had a stock KitKat, don't know anything about the bootloader or kernel versions. But is it possible that the phone which was turned off and only laid with battery inserted in a locker for half a year get damaged?
I've tried connecting the usb jig, the "debrick.img" sdcard method (I've created the image by myself with the stock ROM file using a tutorial), the uart connection with both 150K and 560K resistors and NOTHING seems to work. Is there anything else that I could possibly try doing by myself to get it back to work? I'm afraid that the only way is replacing the memory or trying to re-flash it in an external programmer. The phone has MHL and LTE so would be good as an multimedia and web player for an old TV so I would like to save it. But anyway, at this moment it's a hard brick. Please help.
Mmmh i think its memory is dead, my s3 dead same u s3, and no response from anything, I change s3 motherboard with lte version.
Yea, it looks like the most probable cause is damaged eMMC chip on board. I only wonder why it got damaged just lying switched off in the locker, the battery was in unfortunately so maybe that matters. Probably replacing only the eMMC memory with a new, programmed one would fix the problem. Anyway, because it's nothing to be quite sure about, UART doesn't work to make sure about it and the current value of the used working phone is close to the eMMC chip it's not worth it and it's probably time to just toss it out or sell as an parts donor. So sad, that Samsung didn't send any notification about that problem directly to the phone via the notification channel, I had no idea about that problem before. Fortunately I've migrated all the crucial data to the new phone before so it's not a big loose at all. Thanks anyway.
ah Mathey, when my default smartphone was s3 i usually was turn off it when i going to sleep and one day without signal my phone not want turning on when i woke up that morning, i have a charger that do a little beep when a device is conneted to it and s3 was do it but not turn on.
So maybe half a year ago when I was doing data transfer to a new phone it was the last time when the memory was in good condition, sth caused damage and the next boot was not possible, but the time I tried to do that was the few days ago. Fortunately I've moved everything crucial, so it's not a big lost. We could only wonder if leaving the phone with the battery inside can cause the problem or that's something what happens only when the phone is on and after a reboot there is no guarantee it will start up. Someone told me that GT-I9300 with the same problem could be bringed back to life just by USB, but the GT-I9305 have a different memory chip and that's not possible. Only the external programming. Sad but true :|
