So after quite a while of owning the watch, charging, discharging etc It's finally happened and my watch battery is now a balloon. It wouldn't accept any charge, turn on etc so I looked up a teardown procedure and upon removing the battery I noticed it was large and puffy. I ordered the watch on October 7, 2013 from Amazon.
Anyone know if Samsung will replace it or have heard of this happening in the past? I was running _Null without issue for about 4 months. I suppose I could try to find a new battery?

I sold my Galaxy S about a year ago but always regretted it so I bought another one last week. But there's something strange going on with the battery.
Sometimes the battery level rises slowly without actually charging and sometimes it drops 50-60% during a reboot. I'm guessing it's still the original battery so it's probably a few years old already. I already ordered a new polarcell 1800mAh battery off ebay but should I just toss the one I have now in the trash or can it still be fixed?

Like many others I was experiencing weird battery issues. It would jump 5% increments within seconds. I'd have 46% turn on a movie and 2 minutes later it would shut off. I tried every app fix in the play store as well as different kernels and ROMs. During this issue I broke the screen sent it in for repair and they said they'd fix the draw problem. All they did was Chang the data cable. I got it back and it was worse than before. Before I sent it in I ordered a replacement battery and decided as a last attempt to fix the problem I installed it. Believe it or not I'm now getting 8 hrs sot. I watch the battery meter expecting it to change but it stays on the same number for at least 15 minutes. Hers a screen shot of halfway through a cycle. Also when I go to sleep i wake up to find the battery meter is on the same number as when I went to sleep. Finally it seems all I needed was a new battery. Hope this helps others

Bought it on eBay lol. Even with the cost of the battery I'm still way under msrp. I know a lot of ppl have been frustrated with this tab and its horrible battery issues

which one did you buy? there are a few on ebay. i'm also having this issue and I think it's the battery. I don't have warranty on it since it's 2nd hand off ebay tablet..

I heard batteries are never covered. but I guess if you can prove it's defective from factory, they might change it.

I bought the tab online the battery I bought from batteryship.com for $35 comes with free toolkit which was awesome. They even have a walk through video on yt. B4 the most I'd get was 2.5 hrs sot now I'm getting over 8hrs I can't kill it videos gaming nothing. I know a lot of times batteries are just rebranded but its funny Samsung's OEM is crap and aftermarket is quality. IMO its definitely the battery.

Depending on the countries legislation, a manufacturer can't really decide a certain component isn't covered under warranty. If a device is warranted for 12months from defect then so are all of its components.

Samsung covers batteries but I think they know exactly what's causing this issue they just don't want to absorb the cost of changing out all these batteries.

The only thing that Samsung do not cover is loss of battery capacity - they do cover faulty batteries for 1 year.

I just bought a Tab S 10.5 yesterday as a replacement for my Nexus 10 who's battery is almost useless. Right now you simply can't find N10 batteries so depending on how long you plan to hold onto your Tab S, buying a replacement now may be a good investment even if it is only used to increase its resale value down the road.

Battery Experts say that you should not buy extra li-ion battery`s that you are not going to use, like a spare battery that you alternate with the one that came with the phone, camera, ect.
As as soon as an li-ion battery comes off the production line it will start to age if it is used or not, so you might buy a replacement battery, and put it into storage and 3-5 years later you come to put it in your tablet, but find that 50% of the battery`s capacity has been lost.
If you really abuse your battery and it dies within 6 months to an year it might be worth buying an replacement then, but only if it`s a really really good never to be repeated price, or you are in a country that you cannot get a warranty repair.

I have 2 tab s8.4 to play with.... mine was bronze my sister has the white one... both t705... on my tab i am not having any battery problem but with my sister At first it was having erratic battery issue... i opened it re attached the battery and problem fixed she had longer time to use the tab.. it could go on for more than 12 hrs.. now she used a power bank to charge her tab for only about 10-15 mins because she needed it and while we were eating out.. A day passed her tab is experiencing the similar erratic battery.. from 45% down to 20% then restared it 36%.. what seems to be the problem?? Should i reopen the tab?
The same issue is with my tab s 705. Battery goes to 4% from 100% in 25 mins. Shuts down & when restarted it show 74%, but again behaves the same way with different %. Mediaserver also runs a lot, i have not rooted tab s.

Try reattaching the battery and fully drain then fully charge it then ×#0228#... worked for me
I just returned my tablet for this same exact issue was playing Hearthstone on it after 35 days of having the device all of a sudden it was dropping from 100% to dead in 45 min. After it turned off I would turn it back on and it would be at 75% battery. It would then die in about 20-30 min again and when i turned it on it would be around 40% and so on and so on until it actually hit 0%.
Things I tried before I returned it:
- Full discharge and Charging while the device was on on a slow charge
- Full Discharge and slow charging while device off
- Battery Calibration
EDIT:Thing specific to my use.
- The device was ALWAYS charged with a 1amp anker backup battery/ charger over night
- The device was plugged in to a belkin quick charger 2amp most of the day while at work
- The device was always charged with a 2amp standard Samsung charger when at home and needed a cap off
I did not try the dial trick or opening the devices up because of how new it was. Can I ask why would using the ×#0228#... Do anything for the battery this seems to be a misreported battery capacity that is coming directly from the battery. I could see the reconnect doing something I just don't understand how ×#0228# could do anything for the issue being displayed.

This definitely seems to be a connection with battery, or calibration issue. I have no idea what that number does so... yeah. When you play a youtube video or some sort, does the battery drops still happen when just playing a video? The last thing I can think of is type that number in and see what happens. If the problem still persist, I'd suggest you take your tab back

Mine is already returned I am picking up the replacement in store today. I was with in my 45 day grace period wasn't going to go crazy with it. If I had seen the ×#0228# suggestion before returning it I would have done that to but I didn't. I hopped in this thread in the hopes of helping others who weren't as lucky as to be with in the grace period for return and repurchase brand new.
Not looking forward to re-customizing my tablet when I get it. No root(for warranty reasons i don't root till it expires......LIKE this one I am in now) = fun adding all the accounts back!
So about 6 months ago I swapped the midframe and back on my N6 for the Moto X Pro ones. While I had the phone apart I replaced the battery. My original battery was still functioning fine but I figured since the phone's already torn down, why not replace it? My plan is to keep this phone until the 2016 Nexus is available. So I wanted to be sure that the phone would be problem-free until then.
I got the new battery off eBay from one of the many Chinese electronics retailers for around $15. It was sold as a Motorola OEM battery. When it arrived it looked identical to the original one out of my phone. Installed it, charged it up and went about my business. About 2 weeks later the phone e starts ****ting down suddenly. At first it would do it somewhere between 20%-30% on the battery meter. Then it progressed to shutting down at 50%-60%. Finally it would last only 10 minutes after taking it off the charger (at 100%) before shutting down suddenly. When it would do this, there wasn't the "shutting down" animation you would normally get from running out of juice. It would just go black.
So I deduced it was a junk battery and ordered another one. This time, I ordered one from a place here in the U.S. It was more expensive but not by much (around $30 I think). It arrives, I install it, works great for a month, then starts shutting down suddenly just like the eBay battery. It's at the "only lasts for 10 minutes off the charger" stage right now. So that's battery #2 that's suffered the same fate.
I have battery #3 on the way and it should arrive on Monday. Ordered from another U.S. retailer. Spoke to them on the phone and was assured that it's a brand new, OEM Motorola EZ30 battery. So we'll see how this one works.

I had used the GS4 charger with the original battery that came with the phone and had no problems. Also, for a couple months, I had used a Cheotech 3-coil wireless charger. But I didn't like how long it took to charge so I quit using it. I used it for about 2 months on the original battery and the 2 weeks of the first replacement battery's short life. I haven't used it on the 2nd replacement battery at all as I was trying to see if that may have been the cause of the 1st failure. Can using a different charger damage the battery in such a short period of time?
Is there anything else I can look for before putting in battery #3? Like I said I'm hoping to keep checking this thing alive and kicking until this fall when the new Nexus is released.

Your batteries (#1 and #2) were not damaged by your usage pattern. They were bad quality period. And now you are paranoid about that. Those two batteries being bad does not surprise me at all because the inherent longevity of a battery is closely related to how well controlled the manufacturing process is, and we know how well that process is controlled for Chinese cheap batteries.
Modern batteries and chargers are built in a way that make them relatively immune to user abuse. Your battery lives for a certain number of charges and discharges. For a good battery from a reputable manufacturer that is around 500 to 1500 times. There is also a second order effect that if you recharge the battery before it completely dies it lives marginally longer. That is about it. The stuff you mentioned didn't cause your batteries to die. The poor manufacturing condition in a sweat shop in China did.
I think you also shouldn't use turbo charger with these batteries.

The battery's microprocessor regulates the charge and is designed to prevent damage to the battery. Thus this statement is ridiculous. Especially since all turbo charge does is allow more energy to be transferred to the battery in a given unit of time than with a standard charge.

okay. Its my bad then. But i always notice that my phone heats up more when i use turbo charger. And heat is never good for these batteries.
The amount of heat generated on charging does not significantly impact battery life when compared to something like doing a deep discharge. I wouldn't worry too much about the heat. The battery can handle it.

I see thanks for clearing things up. I saw those videos and images of nexus 6 with all those popped batteries and back covers. I have been afraid of its heating up since then. So i can use it without worrying about its battery and back cover?
I've had my Nexus 6 since the beginning of the year and have had no problems with it whatsoever. While there is no guarantee you won't encounter a problem, if your Nexus is relatively recent like mine you shouldn't have any issues.
I recently sold my phone and got my friends old Galaxy Note 4 (T-Mobile) and immediately started flashing TWRP and a custom rom on it. Now, I've noticed that something fishy was going on with the battery percentage because once it starts to go below between 30% - 20%, it'll immediately cut off and triggers a bootloop until the phone's battery drains. Sometimes when it shows me a low battery notification at 15%, it shoots to 11% right after. I don't get it, is it possibly the battery being defected or the phone itself cause I had a Black Note 4 (under the same network) and it NEVER had these kind of problems and was using the same exact roms (on the proper baseband and kernel). If anyone could explain why this is happening and could give me a solution, I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

Defective Note 4?
Hello, my father has a note 4, it's 1 year old, and 6 months ago, we got a new battery from Amazon, and it dies at 14% exactly, and when you charge it. It boots up at 14%, but again when removed from charger, it dies at 14%. Not to sure what to do... Old battery does the same I'm pretty sure.

After being rooted and debloated and functioning flawlessly, my Note 8 died last night after literally 6 months. While the battery was low, I'm not sure it was so low it would crash and shut down, not returning to life again after several known attempts to revive it.
So, after looking at the Big Internet Thing, it appears this is rather a notable issue associated with the Note 8, with phones crapping out around 6-7 months. Pardon the pun.
While I am receiving another from Verizon tomorrow, I'd advise you keep track of your warranty and pay attention to how your device continues to perform, particularly around charging issues and battery health.

Mine is 8 months old, battery health was 93 when i bought it, today its jumping around 91-89 currently 91.35 . Never let your phone discharge below 20 as it is seen happening...
I have my phone since 22th Nov 2017, so, it is almost 1 year old, and the battery behaves exactly as day one, obviously it must have aged, but, I have never let it drop below 15%, only on rare ocasions I have charged it to 100%, and, what I consider really very important, I have not used fast charge
I installed accubattery just to check the "battery health" , it reports 92%

I think it's a serious engineering flaw if it malfunctions when charging under 20%.
I also read that one trick that might work is to use wireless charging AND USB charging at the same time.
