Q: Can I restore my TA while running a ROM with a non-stock kernel?
A: Yes, but it will soft-brick your device and you need Sony PC Companion or Flashtool to fix it by flashing stock firmware. Best is to first return to a complete stock ROM or at least flash a stock kernel (do not confuse with stock based kernel!) before restoring the TA, this prevents the soft-brick.
Q: Will a restore relock the bootloader?
A: Yes, it will relock the bootloader like it was never unlocked.

restore DRM keys after unlocking Bootloader

Is it possible to restore DRM keys after unlocking BL? I have taken the backup of TA partition. Now after unlocking the BL can I restore the partition? Or it will brick the phone if BL is in unlocked state?
I did it this way first i flashed the stock firmware with flashtool in my case Xperia_SP_C5303_12.0.A.1.257_CE.ftf.
Than i rooted the phone with Doomlords Easy Rooing Kit v16.
I got no soft brick after i restored the TA, done before unlocking with BackupTA 9.0b5 and sure i did a dry run before i performed it.

No, no, mate, you missed the point. I want to know if restoring TA is safe with an unlocked BL.
EDIT: sadly, I know now that restoring the TA would actually relock the BL as well, and if there's a custom kernel installed it might result in soft brick. so I conclude there's no way to have DRM keys with unlocked BL. :crying:

Oh sorry, yes i also think this is not possible at the moment.
So you have to decide DRM or unlocked (custom Kernels).

How to install a custom kernel on locked bootloader?

Guys i want to install this
http:// http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2470806
But i have a locked bootloader
Please tell me how to do this
And if i have to unlock the bootloader
How to, without sony knowing.....
u can't...
the only way is to make a backup of your TA partition, unlock your bootloader, and flash a custom kernel. then if you need to send it back for warranty just flash the stock kernel, restore your TA partition and it will be as tho your bootloader was never unlocked
Re-lock BL

Is that really that easy ? As far as I remember relocking other devices (sola) needed more tinkering to do that.

[Q] Is it possible to relock 4.3 and still keep root?

I have .290 on unlocked bootloader with stock kernel and root. Since relocking is only a step away should i do it or will i brick my device or will i have locked bootloader without root.

I tried to restore TA partition (which locks bootloader) and this soft-bricked my device. I solved it flashing stock ftf with flashtool. I have the same question, I want to have root in locked bootloader, in order to have drm, keys and dont loose x-reality, and most important bionz processor.

I backed up TA in 534 and restored in 290, I didn't know it could make problems. Anyway, how could I backup TA in 290? There is no real root for this firmware.

[Q] [HELP] Rooting & relocking BL newest firmware 12.1.A.0.266

Hi everyone!
After searching for rooting newest firmware of 12.1.A.0.266 with LB, I found that it may be impossible without unlocking my BL. So I decided to unlock BL & root it via DooMLord's method and relock again. But I have a few questions.
I heard it's important to backup my TA partition before unlocking so I do a search for it. So I found that root permission is needed for backup TA. Since firmware 12.1.A.0.266 cannot be rooted, I have to downgrade to Android 4.1 and root it by DooMLord's method. It's all OK for me.
But I need to know, if I do restore my TA backup that taken while running Android 4.1, on my newest firmware 12.1.A.0.266, can it be conflicted that lasting bootloop or bricking my device? And relocking my device will it definitely lock my BL to factory status? Please be kind to help me with these questions. :good:
Thank you all

My friend,
Thanks for helping me! :good:
If I restore TA mean I'm relocking my BL. So if I flashed 4.3 again I cannot gain root access coz it cannot root without unlocked BL. Am I correct?
So how can I root 4.3, if I flash 4.3 over 4.1.2 as root is lost after flashing a new firmware.
Thank & Regards! :good:
You need to root on 4.1.2, install CWM. Download and flash a 4.3 ROM and last flash 2.266 kernel
But there are proper threads for this xD

Yes brother..... I see several threads that explaining how to do that. But I wanted to root official firmware by unlocking BL.
If I restore TA, should I relock BL after that or, first relock BL then restore TA?
Thanks!

To make it easy, unlock using flashtool. It'll automatically make a TA backup. Later when you're done flashing stock kernel you can easily click relock and it'll restore TA and relock it for you as easy as 123.

Bro,
Is that unlocking BL via Flashtool exactly same as unlocking via official Sony method? If I unlocked BL besides official method, can I relock it again successfully? And so, since official method needs to device connected with Fastboot mode, but Flachtool needs device connected via Flashmode to Unlock/Relock BL. Why is the different with this methods? Pls kindly explain this......
Thanks! :good:

Yess absolutely the same. I'm not sure about relocking it after using the official method but I think restoring the TA key actually means relocking it. Well actually you will need to fastboot on flashtool right after the flashmode. There is no difference in result. It's just an alternative way to unlock and relock. Unlocking using official Sony method is the old way of unlocking. Flashtool is just to make it easier and simpler. The result will be the same. But be sure that you make the TA backup before unlocking it for the worst case scenario not to be able to relock it

Bootloader Relocking

Hello!
I currently backed up my TA Partition and DRM Keys using Backup_TA.bat, I now have an Unlocked Bootloader and also am running on a custom kernel ( FW .232 Lollipop ), my question is if I use the restore function on the Backup_TA.bat will that re-lock my bootloader?
Thanks alot!

Yes it will relock BUT
You need to be on an official firmware and rooted. And you must have the stock kernel. Then only you can restore. If your restore TA, it relocks bootloader. And custom kernels don't work on locked bootloader so you will end up in a bootloop if you are not using the stock kernel
Sent from my D5833 using XDA Free mobile app
Btw, do you another way of relocking the bootloader besides using Flashtool?
i try using restore in backup_TA but my bootloader its still unlocked
im on stock rom and kernel + root, in flashtool i dont have option to relock :/
Restoring TA is supposed to relock bootloader automatically aa far as I know :/
