It works based on some kind of script using accessibility functions on android, like a chain of questions.
First you say the command Send a Whatsapp.
Moto voice opens the program, lists your contacts and asks for a name.
You say it.
It types the name in search box and pre select the contact if it finds it.
It asks you to confirm the contact.
You confirm.
Moto voice then select the contact and asks the message.
You say it, and after confirming the message, it is deliveried.
Its not simple as saying the message and contact in one phrase but it works when you are without hands free.

Hi? Does anyone knows how to edit the default verizon voicemail number? I noticed that even if a dial *86 the display number is different. Is there a way to edit it? In my contacts appear like voicemail but it doesn't give me the options to edit.
Appreciate any help.
If you go into ##program, I remember seeing the number for voicemail section. You should be able to override there.

as long as you allow GV to do the work, it's nearly impossible to screw up. GV will pull in your GV phone number and perform the VM forwarding command for you. You shouldn't even have to worry if your GV phone number matches what was assigned to you, everything is automatic.

i just bought the bionic and i was a little disapointed that google voice is not supported. i came from the incedible and ill be honest im addicted to google voice. i never want the verizon voicemail ever again. now my question was. its saying that its not supported by my carrier. but that doesnt make sense cause i placed some calls on my inc just a few min prior to purchasing the bionic. now i know what your thinking your going to say that i have a 4g phone now and it might not work on the extra "G". but in my area there is no 4g coverage yet. so im still rocking the 3g. any ideas?>
i saw another thread about this and think it will address your concern - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1254244

Anyone have their google voice lag? It takes about 3-4 seconds from when I tap the icon to when the app launches. It seems to make my phone freeze during those 3-4 seconds.
anyone? anyone else have this issue?
Only thing different with my Bionic and GV is when I dial a internationial # with GV it no longers displays the Goggle # I am calling that then trans. the international # I am calling. Other then this works just like it did on my old OG droid
My message not picking up
I have had a moto droid and droid 2.no issues..
But.....when I set the google voicemail on my bionic im having issues. It was working fine until 3 weeks
incoming calls are going to a general voicemail box that says enter the number of the party you wish to contact.
If you enter my number it goes to my message.. But no one know numbers these days so I'm not getting any messages...
I have deactivated the account reactivated my account downloaded the software on my phone and I'm repeating the same issue please help.. I'm dying with visual voicemail ...
There's a few dialer codes you have to enter on an LTE device:
*72(xxxxxxxxxx)
*90(xxxxxxxxxx)
*92(xxxxxxxxxx)
where the X's are your Google phone number.
Give that a try and tell me what happens.

GV lags when it starts to eat up more than 19mb of ram. If you don't use it that much, you'll never notice. I've just gotten to the point where I respond to my texts through gmail. No biggie, but still blows. Google needs to fix this ASAP!
I have an Atrix 2, btw. Just checking this forum to see if the Bionic shares the same issue's as the A2. Seeing as they have the same guts and all (minus the radio).
Hi. I was thinking if the Nexus 7 3G would be good as a replacement for my mobile phone. I have seen a few demos on youtube and obviously you would need a bluetooth hands free "In Ear" type, but what about whatsapp, sms messages, emails, etc does all this work well ?. Just interested to hear back from people. I think the battery would drain quick having to have data connected all the time as well as bluetooth for phone calls. Any feed back would be great. Thanks.
There is no way to use as a phone yet, as it cannot receive true mobile calls like a phone can. Read the thread on this in the N7 3g dev section. Sms is working. For whatsapp, look in the themes and apps section of this forum, as there are install instructions. All the info you are looking for is already well documented and readily available right here in the n7 forum.

From what I understand, since google voice and chat can pretty much replace a phone completely on my PC, I assume you should be able to do the same on a N7?
I tried to get google chat to work as a phone on my EEpad trandformer, but for that device there are serious hacks involved to get there.

I use Viber instead of WhatsApp
Since not everyone is happy using non-free apps, I instead use Viber on my N7.
Just as with WhatsApp, you have to go to their website to download the apk, since it is marked as incompatible in the Play Store. Also, you can not have it active on your mobile and your N7 at the same time. Which is the same as with WhatsApp.
I also couple Viber with MightyText, so any regular SMS I get on my mobile, I can respond to on the N7. Of course, I can also send new SMS from the MightyText app on the N7, or from my computer.

It depend on the app you use. I use Vonage and I don't get echo issues like with Google Voice's clients.
Also I just sucked it up and go with the T-Mobile Mobile Broadband $35/month for 3.5GB. Will just disable data on my Galaxy Nexus since I only use it to make calls now. But I also found tethering 3G from the Galaxy Nexus to the Nexus 7 with the screen off doesn't use up much battery and can go for hours.
But can't you only call people that have vonage as well? I don't of anybody really that I would that has that... so it wouldn't be effective

I think PlayStore doesn't let you download Vonage on the Nexus 7, you'll have to download it from a phone then sideload it on the Nexus 7.
Using Vonage, can make free outgoing call within USA and Canada, it will use your actual phone number you activate the app with. It however do not receive incoming calls, unless the other side is also using Vonage.
Since the Nexus 7 do not have phone feature, when you activate Vonage on it, don't put in the "mobile number of your Nexus 7 sim card", put in your regular phone number, when you make outgoing calls it will display that number you activate it with to otherside, that way people can call you back to your phone.
Or if you want to receive incoming calls via Google Voice apps, then activate Vonage with your Google Voice number. I find that during activation process, when Vonage tries to sent an SMS text message with activation code to the Google Voice number, nothing will happen, but then you can select the option to receive the code via call, then shortly you will get a voice recording of the code if you log into your Google Voice account.
I like Vonage more because of better call quality and machines will recognize number inputs, which tend to fail through Google Voice's apps. Also Vonage allow free video calls now if both parties use Vonage app, though yet to be updated on iPhone version I think.
PS. You get $1 to your account when you invite someone and they download it through the link.

Hello, I hope I'm in the right section. I have a Verizon Motorola Moto X, and I love the phone, but I have a concern. Whenever I send or receive group messages, the initial message seems to include everyone that it pertains to. Once someone sends a message, they are moved to their own conversation with just myself. This is with the stock messaging application. Is anyone else having this issue or have been aware of it? I would simply like a way to fix it without another SMS client. Thanks!

My wife has the same problem with her XT1053 on T-Mobile. Sometimes instead of the picture, the recipient gets the media content size message.
We've tried sending the same image and different times and on or off wifi. Sometimes it works. Sometimes it doesn't. We have not figured out a pattern.
We've also tried both the epc and fast apn and with or without MMS proxy set in the apn settings.
She's coming from an iPhone so anything that doesn't "just work" is a glaring deficiency.

try 8sms.
maybe carrier restriction?
It's not a carrier restriction. Fact is, the MMS apk file does not include the code to compress down the image. I believe this is also happening with the AOSP Messenger as well. I'm not sure why, but I was having this exact same issue on some other ROMs on my RAZR HD. It's my guess that Google removed the auto-compression code from the AOSP messaging app in an effort to get people to use Hangouts.

***IF YOU ARE HAVING THE ISSUE PLEASE READ THE FOLLOWING***
So I'm curious as to what carrier you guys are using? Also is the problem sporadic or constant?
HYPOTHESIS: I have a good case that T-mobile's network is to blame, in my situation. I've been using t-mobile with 2 different moto x (I exchanged because the compression issue) I am currently using a t-mobile HTC One which I will be returning since I thought the issue was my moto x. The issue still occurs on T-mobile HTC One.
So I've had MMS messages always send but some arrive and some don't, using The HTC One as well as the moto x, using t-mobile. What's interesting is this:
All messages take long to send
Some say sent (verified by checking the time stamp and also clicking on the view details for the picture) but after asking the recipient they would tell me they never received it.
I tested with friends from other networks (Sprint and AT&T), they've sent me images and I have no problem receiving them
I've sent messages to friends using other carriers (non-tmobile) they had no issues receiving mine but they would take long to send
Doing the t-mobile customer service test ((SENDING A MMS TO MYSELF, SOMETIMES THEY DON'T ARRIVE BUT WHEN THEY DO THEY ALSO TAKES A CONSIDERABLE AMOUNT OF TIME))
My GF and I both have tmobile branded phones on tmobiles network and all the above situations happen to us both. all the ISSUES I mentioned occur when we text one another too.
I've been testing MMS messages for 2-3 weeks texting a T-mobile iPhone 5 and my HTC One (T-mobile) and 2 Moto X (T-mobile) (XT 1053) all phones were running latest software. So this rules out pretty much every variable. We both have good coverage and have not dropped our phones at all.
THEORY: T-mobile has been aggressively bringing in new customers for months now with all the new plans and marketing and whatknot. So I believe that Tmobiles network is either having proxy issues with MMS or simply they are experiencing network congestion with all the new customers. This is similar to the network issues people were experiencing when AT&T got the iPhone for the first time. Things were pretty bad around those time for AT&T customers and a lot of people.
last, This is the hardest evidence I could get so far being that I can't indirectly test each and every carrier lol
I really do hope this helps!
Tmobile user here.
