I'm curious to find out if this is possible, because Windows Phone 8.1 is extremely lacking in software, and multitasking. So, could it be done? I'm asking about KitKat because it can easily run on 512MB of RAM. I'm not new to flashing devices.

No, if you want android, you must buy an android phone.
Not to be very smooth on android 4.4(512MB ram)
Not every phone could get on android.Although the processor's insturction set is ARMv7(Android compatible)...
But the kernel,Only have Windows Phone Firmware download mode. Also the kernel source is not open,So no ROM is available for this device.
If you really want android,As @titi66200 Said:

As the title suggests. I'm interested to hear what people have installed and got successfully running the Ubuntu install on the Nexus 7. Is there a spreadsheet anywhere that outlines compatible and experiences?
Ideally, wanting to know if anyone's been using Eclipse with any other plugins (specifically anyone tried FDT would be cool)
Cheers
Keep in mind you can't run x_86 applications on an ARM device... so I don't know if eclipse will work at all, me being oblivious to whether or not they'd have an ARM version.

I see that there's an armhf Raring compile of Eclipse > https://launchpad.net/ubuntu/raring/armhf/eclipse
I suppose if you want to get even more pedantic and specific, I was ultimately wondering if you could also hook up another Android phone via OTG usb, then with Eclipse and FDT you could compile out Captive runtime Air?
I know I'll probably get shot down in flames with a "why don't you just get a laptop", and I am contemplating that too, but ideally I want/need to get a a tablet so the N7 is looking more likely. Tbh, I'll probably use Android more, but potential dual booting with Ubuntu functionality would be the icing the cake.
Been testing ubuntu using multirom. It's nice to have but I still feel that it needs to be more tab friendly and a few bugs ironed out. Boots quick and looks nice. I have also tested bohdi linux and that works well too. In time ubuntu will be a winner on the nexus 7 I think.

So basically, I'm going to get a note 2 in the next week or so, and I was going to sell my IncS. However, I realised how much I'd miss this xda community, so that's the reason I'm going to keep my phone as a media device for my future car just thought I'd let you all know how great this community is

There are a number of people (i dont know them personally of course. We just see each other on another forum occassionally). When I asked him what for, he said Android is a bit unstable for him. He said his phone crashed in the middle of a business call or something important like that. So he went for a Windows Phone and its rock solid. He said it never crashed on him yet and I totally believe him. Windows Phone has always been quite solid and very reliable for day to day tasks like email, messages, dialing and the likes. The only thing lacking though, is the app store but he says it does not really matter. he uses his phone for work only so yea, does make sense that he would not care.

My friends, I'm thinking that I really need a tablet to complement my SGN2. I don't want to close any option before I hear from you. I'm an advance user, and I'm looking for something that really gives me more that my sgn2. I used to have an iPad I sold it because only my children were using it to play around, but since the anounncement that office 365 was out in USA, I'm thinking to get me an iPad mini. Another choice might be an w8 tablet, since I want it only to get my job done (lots of reports and presentation, microsoft dominates my working environment). I was thinking also to let go my SGN2, get an HTC one and buy a note 10'. What do you think?? Please help me out here.

Or wait a month or two for a probable announcement of the next Nexus 7 Unless you need something bigger in which case a new Nexus 10 should make it's way to announcement soon as well~
wait for the new N7 or N10
if you're getting an android tablet might aswell be a nexus

But what do you think of the other tablets?, I want it to use it on my job, advance tools for powerpoint and advance tools for excell... on Android I can't seems to find somethingh as powerfull as the office suite.
I've allready have an apple account with several software bought, maybe w8 is a good choice but it's a new system and just to have to buy all over again just doesn't seems right.

Well it's weird then that you're asking on here what NON-Android/HTC device to get considering you're already leaning way towards an Apple device anyway for the above stated reasons

It's a work based tablet. You shouldn't be buying a tablet for work though
I am using galaxy note 8.0 and HTC one. You just can't get wrong with the combination.
I used S4 which I think was really laggy and half of the memory was taken by Samsung apps.HTC one get the dev edition from HTC USA online store.
It is amazing piece of equipment.

Sure, I'll use it only when I feel creative. I also have an Lenovo X220 Tablet and is really to big and heavy to carry arround. That's my main working device, but on the go, sometimes y feell that my SGN2 just doesn't help me all the way. I'll take a look at that Dell. thank you!!

I was wondering if ti would be possible to DUAL BOOT WIN RT & ANDROID on Nexus 7, pardon me if this is a stupid question as I'm a noob and I was just curious considering both the OS are built for ARM.
Roger
No.
Beamed from my Maguro.
Not happening legally. Windows RT must be properly licensed from Microsoft. Even if it could happen the rules of XDA wouldn't allow it because it would qualify as warez.
Dear Op,
You know the bracket you put in the title of this post. You know the [Q]?.
Yeah this post goes in Q/A not general.
Thank you,

Nope. But even it were hypothetically possible, you are willing to spend $150+ on purchasing a copy?

Almost anything is possible. Probable is an entirely different story. As you've mentioned, the only way it could be done is with a prayed copy, as RT is not available as a standalone consumer product. Setting aside the legal and ethical aspect for a moment, it simply isn't a viable project.

The problem goes well beyond acquiring a (presumably non-licensed) copy of Windows RT (and even at this point, it would still be warez and thus unsuitable for XDA). You would also need to get a working driver set for the Nexus 7, which would make for some atrocious work (to say nothing of the ultimately poor battery life you'd probably see, since RT regrettably has no support for the companion core).
it looks like kit kat might be very well suited to our phones, as it's specifically designed to work on older, GB-based phones. the exhibit gets resurrected yet again!

well if cam is only doing kit kat for the nexus once i get ion stable enough, won't be hard to port it over with newer drivers for our exhibit. I just got this phone recently and plan on using for as long as possible. yes it wouldn't be hard to port it over now with pmem but to me if we are going to get any major performance boost we will need ION. Which is my biggest priority and most of the time working on.

No ION is a memory manger as is pmem. Its part of the kernel. PMEM is an older architecture which is what our phones currently use. Yes I will be releasing a custom version of AOIP as this is my first for dev android. Then I will release my own after that. Hope that clears things up a little more
