I rooted my Motorola Milestone with Super One Click, then installed ROM Manager. I did flash CockworkMod recoveries but I could not do the backup or installation of new Custom ROM. The phone always was back to the screen with the yellow exclamation inside the white triangle. If I use VOlume + Up button, it will appear the recoeveries with four options: reboot system, wipe data/factory reset, apply update.zip and wipre card partition with the info: E:cannot open cach/recoveries/command. I did try to apply updated.zip but it failed and say that it cannot verify the signature and installation aborted.
Could you please help? Thanks

Dude, ROM Manager does NOT work on Milestone. You need to flash a Vulnerable Recovery using RSD Lite, install Androidiani Open Recovery, go from there:

Thanks, dude. In the list of ClcokwordMOd, i find out there is a row for Milestone. Click on it, I also am able to download a file of Recoveries which is specific for milestone. But it does not work.
One thing I would like to raise here is that after i cannot use update.zip any more. Cuold you please explain why? It also says "cannot verify signature"
Thanks
Because your phone does not have the vulnerable recovery installed. Look at the link I posted. It has everything you need to get up and running. Don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions.

I did do as your instruction. But as i did the backup, it is stuck. the phone went to "system:dumping..." and stayed there in one hour.
I flashed the recoveries sucessfully. please advise

The Milestone mentioned in ROM Manager / clockworkmod is probably the Alltel Milestone, which in reality is a droid 1.
Now that you have installed cwm, you have to remove it from your phone and then install Androidiani openrecovery. Before that you need to install vulnerable recovery from here using rsdlite.
Note that it may take more than one try to get cwm out of the system.

What did you end up doing after it hung for an hour? Because if you haven't flashed a custom ROM, you should still be able to boot (rooted) and you can try the Nandroid backup again.

I take the batterry out of the phone and restart it again. It works normally but the backup is not done because i do not find out the backup under Openrecoveries folder. I did try the second time but it happed again and i had to take the battery out of the phone and restart.
please help
I actually had the same mistake as you before (using ROM Manager on our Milestone).
I recommend this:
1. Backup your SD card content
2. Reformat your SD (slow format)
3. Place the AOR 3.3 (Androidiani Open Recovery) files back in (use a fresh download if possible)
4. Perform Nandroid backup again
Note that there will be no "backup" content in your OR folder. Instead, you will see a new "nandroid" folder in your sd root.
Thanks dude. I find out the solution. I wipe all data + cache, then I download a fresh recoveries and then i did the backup again. It works well.

You should not use ROM Manager to do the backup or flash for Milestone. please use Open Recovery 3.3. Download it and please delete CWM folder also. Please wipe data/facotry reset for doing backup or flash. (IMPORTANT). It will work.
Hi,
I'm trying to get out off the stock rom, but I just can't
What am I dooing wrong.. (No SD card is used)
1) install CWM 4.0.0.5 (Int)
2) nandroid backup
3) Mount USB, to get the backup on to the PC
4) Smartflash Baseband 0606
5) NVFLASH stock rom (just replacing the recovery with CWM 4.0.0.5)
6) boot into CWM
7) Wipe Data/factory, cache, dalvik
8) Install zip (CM_p990_full-50), have also tried build 43
9) Reboot
10 ) crying... everytime it starts with FC of LGE everything. (10-13 popups, and endless loop in LG.SetupWizard)
Yes, I know i'm a NOOB, but this just makes no sence to me...
Please advice....

Yes, and it seams to work.
Then I did a Backto ext3 from cwm, and then tryed wipe and install CM. but now noting happers, it says "installing" but nothing like "writing to ...." and after that I'm stuck on the LG logo on an reboot.
Can't even restore back to my old rom....
so back to an NVFLASH for me and a restore...
Anyone.... Please HELP....
OK, that's proper weird.
From memory (and it's not that great as I'm on the Amigos) you wont see much other than 'installing..." when flashing CM, so wouldn't worry about that.
Did you do anything in recovery before applying the back to EXT3 patch? If so it might not have worked, as it needs /system and /data to be unmounted (found that one out for myself lol)
i had the same issue, try to reflash original cwm from ROM manager and youll be able to install cm7

I've no idea what you are doing. But I'm pretty sure there isn't supposed to be any "LG.SetupWizard" in CM7.
^ What he said. There is a SetupWizard.apk and an LGEServices.apk but no LG.SetupWizard. Or LG anything else, for that matter.

I have the same problem coming from stock.
I have CWM 4.0.0.5 external installed. Took nandroid backup, wiped data and cache, flashed nightly 52, flashed gaaps and everything went fine but when I reboot I get stuck on the CM7 logo in an endless bootloop.
Thankfully I could restore stock but what I am doing wrong?
Try cwm 3.2.0.0 saved me.

I am having the same issue, I was able to root it without any issues. Installed GooManager but the App itself is force closing or it get stucks in "Installing Recovery Image" when I reboot into recovery I still get the standard recovery and not TWRP.
Now my question is since I have SU, would it be easier to just get Rom Manager and install CWM then flash TWRP off of it? Any suggestions appreciated.

That is what I did and it did the trick.
Try as I might, I just couldn't get mine to work through Goo manager either. Finally, flashed CWM through Odin, flashed TWRP zip for T879 through CWM and I was good to go.
Had the same troubles.. Finally got it installed by following the dd method on the teamwin page. OK, can't post a link but google "sgh-t879 twrp". They list several alternate methods of installation.
"Download - DD Method:
You can use adb or terminal emulator to install the following image:
...
adb push openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.1-sgh-879.img /sdcard
adb shell dd if=/sdcard/openrecovery-twrp-2.3.1.1-sgh-879.img of=/dev/block/mmcblk0p22"
would someone point me to the step-by-step for this? I have odin running but it shows blue... I'll figure that out - what I need is how to get CWM loaded & running correctly.

How do i install cwm recovery (rom manager) so that i can boot in recovery mode? I installed flash recovery but had no changes.if i use the power button when phone is on, cwm is not in the list.
My phone is already rooted!
I'm not sure what you meen. You need root for rom manager to install cwm.
If you're rooted already just pick your model in rom manager and it will install cwm for you.

For touch version through rom manager you need premium licence I think.
You can download their *.img from cwm site, rename it to recovery.img, put it on your external sd and flash it to recovery with "dd" command in terminal.
"su"
"dd if=/storage/extSdCard/recovery.img of=dev/block/mmcblk0p21"
Make sure you get the digits in the end right or else you might not be able to boot again.

reboot and install.
alright,i charge my phone battery first and then i go for it
what if i check; wipe data and cache on,what will happen?do u recommend?because if i go to battery,i see 2 android proces running
Yeah do that. Never flash with a bad battery
Nothing needs to be wiped for a recovery flash.
Wipe data will make a factory reset and wipe all your apps and user data, so dont.
You can wipe cache and dalvik cache without loosing anything. Cache rebuilds itself, but first boot takes a very long time..be patient.
thanks bro.

Thats an extended power menu. You won't find it in stock rom.
Reboot recovery from rom manager or use vol+/home/power combination.

Hello everybody.
I was trying to install CyanogenMod 11.0 for Samsung Galaxy Mini 2 but after getting Status 7 error, I did some research and found out that I had to update the CWM to the newest one.
I updated it successfully from the old CWM and after restart it booted me into the new one. Than I rebooted the phone and since then, it started looping. It doesn't go into recovery mode. Only if I push Volume Down + home + Power, it goes into Download Mode.
I googled but I couldn't find anything that would help.
I'm inexperienced in die-hard tweaking on Android but I'm not a newbie in mobile phones (Proud ex owner of N900).
Please help and thank you in advance

One sure way to fix this is to go back to stock. You said that you can go to download mode. So use odin to flash stock.
Another way would be to use adb to get into recovery, but I don't know if you have access to adb.

I have never used cwm 6.0.4.7. I always used cwm 6.0.4.5 and I had no problem installing CM 11 with this. So what I suggest is:
-First flash cwm via odin (whatever version you find available).
-Then via cwm flash an update to cwm-6.0.4.5.
-Then wipe data/cache and /system.
-Flash cm11.
-(Perhaps flash gapps?)
-Reboot and enjoy (it will take a lot of a time to boot for first time so be patient)
Warning: While using cwm 6.0.3.2 avoid using option "reboot to recovery". This is what will get you stuck in a recovery bootloop.
After upgrating to 6.0.4.5 you should be ok.

It has internal SD mount problems, but not everyone has this problem. For some it just works fine.
Also I think that 6.0.4.7 also has the same problem.
Finally there is a 6.0.4.5 that I've uploaded that avoids mounting internal SD and only mounts external SD. Just for those who have mount problems and still want to install KitKat (because KitKat needs cwm 6.0.4.5 +)
thanks
