Wifi problem - Sony Xperia ZR

As you know Xperia ZR has wifi, bluetooth,NFC problem. Its a hardware problem that came from manufacture fault. Purchasing this phone was one of my biggest mistakes of my life. However i bought it and it was an expensive ( actually overpriced) mobile. I am looking forward to solving this problem. I cant share file with other devices and i cant use wifi. This is my biggest problem. After investigating i found finally only i can connect to 5Ghz wifi connection. And rarely i can connect to 2.4 GHz wifi for few hours after rebooting several times. I strongly believe that the problem is confined to C5502 (3g version). Now the only solution is you must have a 5.00 GHz wifi router to use wifi but you cant use shareit, superbeam , zapya to share your files with other devices. You can only share files thorugh these applications when your device is connected to 2.4 GHz. If you dont have a 5Ghz wifi router then you have to create 5 Ghz wifi hotspot through your pc or any android device so that your ZR can be connected to 5GHz wifi. I dont know how to do it.

Seems like device issue

Just so you know, I use almost all the above mentioned apps and I don't face single problem with them. Check with a service center. Seems its a hardware issue. And do get your phone replaced as it can not be repaired. And visit only an authorised service center. I am telling this as I have seen people who didn't know about this and got their phone repaired (more like worse) from so called service centers and now are in serious trouble....
I have c5502 and I bought if from India and I have had it replaced (not any h/w issue but only the headphone jacks were scratched - free of cost replacement from Authorized Sony Service Center).
I believe I wasn't of any help here but I thought I should share whatever info I had....

Wifi keep disconnecting at random when using Virtual Router

Hello
I'm using MiniCM7
My WiFi sleep setting is set to 'Never'
I have no problems using WiFi when connecting to typical routers etc, but when i use Virtual Router software to share my PC internet the connection in my phone drops and reconnects after short while (like 0-10seconds).
I'm using Virtual Router because most of others apps including Win7 built-in have failed to establish connection at all.
Is there any solution for this?
Thanks.
I have this problem too
Yes, yes. So it is a problem with virtual router. I think it worth to buy the real router)
I really doubt it's the software issue.
All those programs should provide WiFi Hotspot. It's impossible that all of them are flawed. I think it's more technical, the way android connects to such hotspots.
To compare. Win7, Connectify and few other programs make my phone go 'connecting > retrieving IP > disconnected' loop.
I would like to update this.
My Gf have Galaxy mini 2 GT-S6500D with stock android 2.3.6. She can stay connected to same WiFi hotspot without issues where's my X8 is still disconnecting after very short while.
So i'm guessing it's X8 fault, not software.

If its x8 fault then why dont you go to the shop you bought it and ask them there. We cant help with hardware issues.

Because all x8 users have this on those kind of WiFi's. Normal router WiFi works.
I just pointed this out because maybe there is some sort of fix for this (software solution)

[Q] Xperia T Wi-Fi problem

I just got an Sony Xperia T,
now I was trying to connect is to my router with the 5ghz-band, but the Xperia T can't find the network,
so then manually added the network, inserterd password, but then it says that the network isn't within reach,
but i'm sitting next to the router, the 2.4ghz-band works fine, and sony confirms that the phone should work with
the 5ghz-band in the white paper of the phone. Does anyone know how to solve this problem?
BTW, my router is a Netgear WNDR3700 Dual Band.

On your router have you set it to dual band as a lot of the time they have it defaulted to 2.4 b/g so you'd need to change it to auto or whatever option allows all. On my Linksys it says 2.4 and 5 as an option in the dropdown. That would be the only reason I can think of. Have you tried with any other device to connect to your 5ghz network?
Likely a router compatibility issue. I can connect to a Linksys e4200 on 5ghz with no problems

My Xperia T refuses to connect to my WiFi AP. It's only 2.4GHz, but according to the logs on the AP, it isn't even trying. On the phone side I very briefly see "Connecting" or similar on the AP list, then it reverts to Saved.
Log on phone is filled with entries like this:
Code:
I/wpa_supplicant( 565): wlan0: Trying to associate with 00:0c:42:XX:XX:XX (SSID='LFWnet' freq=2412 MHz)
I/wpa_supplicant( 565): wlan0: CTRL-EVENT-ASSOC-REJECT bssid=00:0c:42:XX:XX:XX status_code=1
MAC's partially XX'd
This happened on the stock Vodafone ROM, and still occurs on the Generic UK posted in General. I have tried WPA and WPA2, TKIP and AES, different channels, disabling N etc etc, still the same
Tried soft/hard reboots, wipes etc, nothing. It has connected to other public and protected AP's fine.
Am gutted as changing my AP to work around this problem is a no-go. Not had any problems with various other laptops and phones, including other SE/Xperia devices.

I'm on generic UK rom and using a BT Home Hub without any problems. I've also got my old dLink wireless n router I use as a print server and it works fine with that too. My brother has a Sky router (Netgear I think) and that works fine.
I think you must be unlucky.

Is your SSID published? Have you tried turning off all security on the router to see if you can connect then? (obviously I'm not suggesting you leave it unsecured but it is something to try.)
Also, posting your router details may give you an idea if others have been successful with that router before you splash any cash on a new one.
Hi, my Xperia T also is not able to connect with my e4200 5 GHz WiFi. My Laptop and a Samsung Phone works without any problems... I read (sorry I don´t remember the forum link) Sony did not enable the 5 GHz frequency because of driver issues. But if it works on some phones, maybe it´s a provider specific issue like the permanent bootloader lock?
Might be worth updating the firmware of your router?

I think I found the problem, the 5ghz band of my router doesn't have much range appearently, when i'm trying to find the 5ghz band outside of my house, i can't find it, I can only find it when i'm in my room, that's where the router stands, but the 2.4 ghz band has a much better range, I can connect to is almost 20-30 meters outside of my house. I'm wondering when Netgear is coming out with an update for my router, hopefully that will solve the problem, or maybe it will be solved when the Xperia T gets an update to Jelly Bean.

Hi there,
I've just bought the Xperia T and I'm pretty disappointed I can't use my home wifi.
I'm having exactly the same problem - I can see my connection and connect (sometimes) but it is a very poor connection, then after a minute or says "Not in range". If I go outside (which is actually closer to where the modem is) I can get data at an acceptable speed.
Sorry I'm such a noob but can you explain to me where the limitation lies and how I might fix it. Every other device used in the house works - even an old iphone 3gs - I'm surprised Sony's newest phone hasn't implemented technology that must have been in use for years.
Or if it is the modem - any ideas on how to change it.
Sorry - can't give you details - the modem is locked in the landlords garage - so I can't see what make it is.
Thanks for helping a noob.
I have faced the same problem with my TX when connecting to my AP.
I think there is WIFI problem in receiving the WIFI signal of security mode WPA2/WPA.
You can change the WIFI security mode to WEP or No security.
My device can connect the WEP mode WIFI.
Hope you can solve the problem!

Hmmm, that's strange - my modem is set to WEP and it's not really a connection problem but a signal strength problem. But like I said - no other device has this issue. It is hard to test - right now I'm accessing this from a cloud connection which is average compared to another I used this morning, though much better than at home. But I don't know how close I am to the transmitter right now.
Hello again,
I'm still trying to get to the bottom of this:
So my Xperia T can connect and use the wifi in my house fine IF I am within 2-3 metres of my router, which has the following settings -
O2 Wireless Box, model - TG585v7
Software release - 8.2.7.7
Boot loader 1.0.0
Interface Type: 802.11b/g
Band: 2.4G Hz (This unfortunately cannot be changed)
It is currently set to WEP security but when I changed to WPA-2 there was still no change - could only connect when a couple of metres away.
Also even when holding my phone 10cm away from the router I still only get a "Good" connection. So I started to think it must be my phone that is faulty - I've been to coffee shops and picked up the free Cloud wifi ok, though one kept dropping in and out. And I have been into mobile phone shops testing their wifi and it connects.
But yesterday I went to Carphone Warehouse and compared to one of their demo Xperia T phones - the demo was connected to their wifi fine yet my phone could not even "see" their connection - I was sure it was my phone.
But now I'm really confused - today I went to a different Carphone warehouse - there was no demo phone but I picked up their signal and the quality was "Excellent" - something I'd never seen before.
My phone is locked to T-Mobile - can a carrier locked phone somehow restrict access to certain routers?? Seems very weird to me, though I am quite a novice at all of this.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.
locked phone won't block AP access... maybe backup your data and try master reset.. factory reset... don't need erase sd card.

Are you using the T-Mobile WiFi app? If so delete your connection from settings, then set your home WiFi via the T-Mobile app, it may be connecting to the open one not your full one.
If you don't use the app, I would change the channel on the router and try that.

Wifi connect/disconnect - SOLVED

Hey everyone,
I just picked up a Xperia Z1 and noticed that when it was connected to my Wifi it would disconnect and connect at random. My cell provider and sony technicial support didnt offer any useful assitance. They informed me to do a factory restore on my device and it didnt help. Finally I decided to change my wifi encryption on my router from WPA/WPA2 to WEP and tada.. It works. I no longer have any issue with my phone. But I would prefer if Sony would fix this so that I can use the more secure protocol

Glad you solved the problem but I don't think is an issue of every Z1. I use WAP2 with 128bit Password and no problem. But still other problems anyway so I think is all based on luck.
Have this problem now too please help!

Have the EXACT same issue - very frustrated as I have moved from iphone now to this that has an issue with one of the most simple tasks of a mobile these days!
Can someone more technically minded please explain - I know this is an issue this phone has with WEP settings, and yes I could change router settings etc to connect the phone, however - what if I am at an airport, coffee shop, etc? Obviously I cannot go change their settings!
I am going to New Zealand on Thursday and it is imperative I can connect to wifis easily.
Can anyone please let me know asap please
* is this an Xperia/Sony issue? My iPhone never struggled with any settings of routers, ever, nor have any Samsungs I owned.
* Do I face the issue that if a router has WEP settings in public then I may forget connection to it??
* I might have the chance to get a Samsung S4 before I go.....should I just go for it and cut my losses with the camera?
Thank you so much in advance!
Emma
I never know that was the problem, I wil try, thanks!
For a professional network penetrator it takes 5-10 minutes to crack your wifi with wep.
You really shouldn't go with wep. There was a fix for that problem, try to search a bit on this forum. However it involves root. It's your call. Aside from that: I don't have any problems with WPA.
Btw: few years ago those iPhones I supported were unable to log into WPA protected network. IPhones iPad, and iPod all alike. Gave me a huge headache.
Edit:
Airports or places like that should not be a problem. Most of those networks are unprotected. Access to those networks is most likely controlled by a nac device or application
Edit 2:
There it is:

2.4 GHz Wifi connection Problem

As you know many of xperia ZR user having problem with 2.4 GHz wifi connection whereas 5Ghz connection works flawlessly. The problem occurs because of hardware issue. It has been revealed that due to overheating connection in flex cable has been detached. when you press hard below nfc sign removing back part, it connects 2.4 GHz wifi. Now question is, how can i use 2.4Ghz wifi by editing some program as i have rooted device.

[I3113] WiFi issues

Hello together,
I have a weird issue with my Xperia 10 (I3113 with unlocked Bootloader on 53.1.A.2.2).
At work we use Cisco ISE Sponsor Portal to provide WiFi guest access. I login using my credentials and everything works fine.
After a while I have to re-authenticate - this happens multiple times per day.
I noticed a similar issue with my WiFi at home. The phone is connected to the WiFi but has no internet access (same phenomenon as at work).
Has somebody experience a similar issue? Is this maybe related to the unlocked bootloader?
Greetings
I had wifi issues before i4193. It disconnects then reconnect itself automatically. I read some thread for xperia phones sine im unable to find any discussion specific for xperia 10. Luckily i found something saying that it underestimate the signals for dual band routers with 2.4 and 5ghz. My router at home is dual band but sharing the same ssid. I have it separated and now problem no longer exist. I can connect either to 2.4 or 5ghz signal without being disconnected. Hope this help.
Thanks for your reply.
I'm gonna try 2.4 GHz only and give feedback
