I have the same problem as the op, but unfortunately maclaw hasn't got a forum. (they are setting up one but it isn't launched yet)
So i decided to ask here too, since you guys have knowledge about pretty much everything.
please, maybe you or anyone else could point out what the possible cause of this problem could be.
In my case, the phone restarts after a while, but only when the device is on battery, and when the screen is locked.
Everything works fine when it's on charger and/or unlocked.
(maybe this description defines the problem somewhat better)
Is this a common problem or does it have a well known cause?
Thanks in advance for your efforts.

Okay, with a little help i found an answer myself. This is for ppl struggling with the same problem: To prevent those random restarts, you only have to experiment with your energy profile and your minimum clockspeed. change your CPU.(at least this worked for me) By default, min. clock is set at 100MHz and energyprofile is balanced. you've got to change either ONE of these. (or both if you like) I had to bump clockspeed up to 200MHz(still pretty big underclock) or change profile to powersaver. Never got the restart problem after this change, nor a problem with the dialer or the youtube app. Maybe cpu governor could be a solution too, but this did the trick for me. To unlock those options, if you can't find'em, google "unclock cm11 developer options." once you have them unlocked, head to 'performance' and apply said changes.
Hope it helps for you too.

[Q] I need help establishing a wakelock please?

Hello all. I am writing about my wife's Note1 (N7000, 16Gb).
The phone functions just fine except for one thing. At about 50% battery, it will just go to deep sleep and will require a long press power to wake up. Happens with any battery and have tried a few different ROMs (custom and stock). A SECOND Note we have (my sister's; I have a Note2) doesnt do any of this with same batteries and same ROMs, so does seem to be weirdness with this one.
I DO have a solution which has been proven to work with a scientific cause/effect relationship:
I installed THIS app from the PlayStore:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=eu.thedarken.wl
Now I dont fully understand wakelocks, but I reckoned the CPU was going into deep sleep so I set the wakelock to be FULL (see screenshot 1). This 100% solves the problem and the phone is fully normal now, and my wife says she cant tell any loss of battery life.
SO....
Looking to do one of two things:
1. is there a way we can have this app AUTORUN on boot cos she keeps forgetting to run it when she swaps battery (which is once a day cos she is heavy outside house user) and then wakelock not running then phone sleeps! DOH! If autoruns, then she can at least SEE the wakelock screen and press the lock to be active (we are still testing how LOW a wakelock can we get away with but for now using 7)
2. even better, is there a KERNEL I can flash her to that will give me same functionality so she never even needs the app? Something where I can set a minimum CPU level in a similar fashion and it is now a set-it-and-forget-it even surviving a reboot?
See pic2 for the stock ROM she is on now and is great. Given that phone is otherwise fabulous and all else is stable and functional, I would like to keep to this ROM if at all possible so as not to introduce new weirdness. Also, given that this is such an easy software fix, I am not looking to hardware repair the phone as just want to fix this and get on with life.
Hope this is enough info for an informative and educational discussion and looking forward to some good advice.
Thanks to all, and kind regards,
Asif
So are you wanting to prevent the phone from going into deep sleep?

Correct, yes. Need to stop the phone from sleeping so deeply that it is effecttively off now as wife misses critical reminder alarms, as well as phone calls etc. As it is (without the wakelock) the phone is pretty useless. WAS actually my sister's but had to swap and now SHE has the wife's old one. Sister is a surgeon and when phone was deeply asleep, hospital could never contact her so not good. So swapped and sister has wife's good one so that is off my back. Wife's (sister's old one) is here and easier to test out as sister lives in England and I am in Glasgow. Easier to take dodgy one and work on it here.
So need phone to remain functional until such time as battery is dead, like you would expect any normal phone to do.
So need wakelock to remain in force as described above, as WITH the wakelock active, the phone is perfect.
Thanks.
Is the phone rooted?
If so you could flash this mod i made. It prevents deepsleep.

Only works on xxlsz though

Looks like the kind of thing I need, thanks.
Was very much not keen on switching ROMs tho as this one just working perfectly, and we all know that every ROM has it's quirks. Didnt want more headaches with the wife giving me daily anecdotes of weirdness!
What do you reckon would happen if I were to try flashing this on LSO ROM? I suppose the worst thing is a bork and then I just wipe and reflash LSO fresh? Is this just a typical CWM zip?
Or is there anything just like this (kernel or mod) that could be flashed on LSO?
Appreciate your time and help so far.
The mod is in the androidpolicy.jar so i doubr it will work. Worth a try as long as you backup first

OK, thanks.
Before I do, will wait to let the thread cook a wee bit and see if any other alternatives emerge.
Cheers.

Bump.
Any other ideas before I try the above?
Thanks.
Just a follow up if anyone is following this.
I DID flash the LSZ ROM and the zip patch and phone still died that night and failed to ring the morning's wake up alarm. To be honest, I am not sure what is going on with it. I have done a 'deep clean' (actually too much and I bricked it and then recovered it! Code Brown!!) and now flashed Slim Bean 4.2.2 to try something totally different and get away from a Sammy based ROM.
We shall see by tomorrow if phone can sleep at night without going into a coma, and then wife's wake up alarm can still ring.
If not then I think it is time for a service.
But wanted to come back on here and thank you for your time and efforts anway.
Kind regards.

[Q] Lock screen lag

Hello everybody.
I just got myself an P880 a few days ago. All in all, I am rather content, but there is something that bothers me sorely: the lock screen lag. There is a delay of about 3 seconds between pressing the power button and the screen coming to life. I've had this on stock ICS, stock JB and now on CM 10.1.2. I tried different lock screen and also no lock screens - all to no avail. I even checked another P880 (it was running stock ICS) and it was the same story there. Yet I can't really find anyone else reporting this problem, so maybe I'm doing something wrong? I don't know!
I took a video of my old SGS and the P880 next to each other: youtu.be/RyrgdiLGhoU
All hints and suggestions are appreciated!

There is no real answer to this question, my 4x is fine, perhaps half a second delay from pressing the lock button to seeing my lockscreen.
However there are many contributing factors to what could cause this, for example the phone may be locking to a certain frequency too low and it's finding it hard to come back from, if you lock the screen whilst on a RAM hogging app it will also lag, background processes will also slow it down, for example, always clear your recent apps (Long hold Home button) and clear them, if you have root access (jb only i think) Then try using greenify and freezing background apps you dont want either running/receiving notifications from.
If you are still on stock you may want to remove bloatware (apps you don't use) Which will also be churning away in the background slowing down your phone, make sure in your settings you will also have that there is no delay and that lock button INSTANTLY locks the phone and then try again and post back if it's helped or not, if not then we should start looking at other factors it could be, perhaps a week tegra variant and we should look into a custom kernel and raising the minimum frequency a tad and seeing whether or not that will help.

What was the point of this post? Contribute to troubleshooting the problem if you can, but simply posting a "Me too" is no use anyone.

I maybe should have mentioned that it isn't every time that there is this delay, maybe every second time on average - sometimes more often, sometimes not at all.
Having had this problem with different firmwares and also with a cleanly wiped phone, even with a fresh install of CM when I hadn't even flashed the Gapps package, makes me think that this very likely isn'ta bloatware issue.
Changing the CPU governor to performance had no effect either.

Phone goes crazy when (I guess) overheated

Hi guys, I have annoying probnlem with my LG 4x... When I work little bit longer on my phone, it just starts to behave crazy. Screen starts to "touch himself" I just look at it and he starts to get in menus, opening pictures, closing apps, opening new ones... I just lock screen for 10 secs and than everything is fine for few minutes. Than same thing again. This happens with every ROM and every karnel I try til now. Works fine only with stock. I'm now on Beanstalk 4.4 and iodak 9.95. Thanks!!!

Its a weird issue, are you sure it works fine on stock? because it sounds like a digitizer issue to me (rather than software, since the rest of us dont have this issue)
im not sure where to begin lol, can you pull some logs? (dmesg and logcat)
Oh.. and I guessed it was only me.
I have this problem too, works fine with stock but it goes crazy with custom rom.
Any idea ?

No worries, nothing out of the ordinary in the logs, its looking more like hardware(hopefully im wrong). It might be worth testing a stock rom under the same conditions again, if there is no issue, then theres something weird going on. btw 50c is fine temp for cpu, around 75c is the limit.
Can you get a screen recording of it? (most 4.4 based roms have this functionality built in) this could be helpful also https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=ds.cpuoverlay

I don't know why, but every time I tried to record screen, phone just reboots. I tried with various apps, every time same thing. I cant find built in app in beanstalk 4.4. I'll try stock again but cant before tomorow. Thank you for your time
Use beanstalk with grouper blobs, and press vol up and power simultaneously to record

[Q] Looking for a good stable ROM for S3 mini

I have been ROM-hopping for 3-4 months and I have tried many ROMs for my i8190.
I found some I really enjoyed, some did not work well for me.
Without meaning to "compare" the ROMs or find "the best ROM ever" I am just looking for some suggestions on ROMs that I can try.
My requirements are very simple:
-OTG support
-No clock freezing
-No battery drain
What ROMs would you suggest?
Please note, I have no intention of comparing the ROMs with one another, I am just looking for suggesstions in case there is something good that I have not tested yet.
Thanks!

Thank you for your time. This was the ROM I installed last and seems to be a good option.
I have been using it for almost a week, I really like the stability, looks like a solid ROM.
I only have one issue with it (all cyanogenmod ROMs basically).
Even though I have turned the backlight of the hardware buttons off, they keep lighting at random times, I have not found what is causing that or how to fix it, can you suggest something or do I just get used to it?

I managed to break my phone's screen so I haven't been using it for the past couple of months but I'm back here to say this solution worked 100% for me, just in case anyone is reading. Thank you!
P.S. Sorry I had to remove the url to the app, but I'm a new user and I am not allowed to post external links, obviously even when quoting more experienced users.

[Q] Input / Scrolling Lag on Samsung ROMs

Howdy,
My T-Mobile Note 4 hangs for about 2 seconds every few seconds while typing and scrolling. The text catches up after the hanging.
I have tried several different Samsung-based ROMs and they all exhibit this issue.
CyanogenMod does not exhibit this issue and runs very smoothly.
I'd leave it at that, except I do like to use the Gear VR.
Curiously, some ROMs like TekXODUS run great until after the first reboot, and then the problem returns. I've tried a few different kernels, just to see what happens, and there doesn't seem to be an impact.
I noticed on this last ROM flash the fingerprint scanner registration works on first boot but not after reboot (I get the "try rebooting" error), but I'm not sure if that could be related.
Can anyone help me understand:
What tools I have available to troubleshoot this?
How to tell what updated or changed after first reboot?
Or guide me in any way? It's driving me nuts.
Some supplmental information:
I cannot be sure exactly what model this phone is, since I bought it off Craigslist and the sticker on the back is gone. (Dumb I know, I only thought to check the IMEI through the menu)
It reports as a N910T with a valid IMEI but this whole thing has me wondering. Any help in determining what this thing actually is would be helpful as well.
Thank you!

Its all about the kernal. And setting it up properlly. Using a controller such as synapse or kernal aduitor. And setting up the kernal. Uping the cpu minimum threshold and using a cpu gov..
I must say your lucky in your purchase and finding out that the device is a T..
Flashing the wrong kern on a device can produce unwanted results..
I suggest Ael. Or emotion kern. And follow the op as to settings and speed and battery life..
Rom choice is crucial as well. Im running darth staker COD6 atm with a custom kern overclocked at 2688 and there is no lag...[emoji16]
