USB on a rooted htc One is not recognized or charging when phone is on. Consistent across many custom roms. Could this be a kernel issue? Charges like normal when off and can use my usb in bootloader and adb
USB not recognized when phone on, will only charge when off.

Hi, my Xperia X1 does not boot normally. I did not mess with the SPL or bootloader. I made a call, put it back in it's pouch, tried to make a call a few hours later and got the bootloader screen instead. All software and ROMs are stock standard and was never changed. I started by reading XDA forums. The phone will power up to bootloader screen when switched on. Serial is displayed. Plug in a USB cable to PC and this changes to USB. The PC makes its sound to indicate a USB device has been connected. It then says the device cannot be recognised and removes the usb icon from the taskbar. Activesync, mtty, SEUS or any other software will not recognise it. I have since put RA2 on a SD card and updated the ROM. This worked fine. There is no way I know of to HardSPL the phone as it cannot communicate with a PC. If you plug in the wall charger, car charger or USB cable to a PC, the phone will skip the bootloader screen and switch on. The phone cannot be charged while switched on. No charging symbol and the battery will still run down. Switch the phone off and it will however charge. Anybody seen this before? Any ideas how to fix it?
Thanks in advance
Ever since I updated to gb I've noticed that my phone shows USB even when plugged in to the supplied wall charger. Sometimes rebooting the phone while plugged in takes it in to AC mode but that doesn't always work. I have the stock gb rom and the phone is rooted. The boot loader is also unlocked. Anyone else experienced this? Any solution?
Hello,
I just got an external battery and tried using it with my phone, but it refuses to charge from one of the provided cables and enters USB host mode. On the other hand, if I plug in another of the provided cables it starts charging right away as if it was connected to the wall charger.
For reference, this is the battery I got: Genius ECO u306 (http://www.geniusnet.com/Genius/wSite/ct?xItem=58540&ctNode=3633&mp=1). If you look at the 3rd photo, you'll see an attached (red) cable hanging out. That one fails to charge my One, I also tried it with a Galaxy S5 and got the same USB host mode message, but when I connected it to my old Xperia X10 Mini Pro it charged normally. The battery also has one full USB and a micro USB port, and when I connect a cable from the full USB port to my phone (or the S5) it charges normally.
I got this battery so I wouldn't need to carry an extra cable with me, so it would really be great if I could disable USB host mode for this device, or when I want to use the battery. I also don't want to disable USB host mode completely, because I use my flash drive (OTG) with my phone from time to time. Does anyone know of a way to do this?

In case it matters I have an unlocked (and rooted and S-OFF) WWE One, with ARHD 53 (Android 4.4.2, SENSE 5.5), firmware 4.19.401.11 and TWRP 2.6.3.3
My uncle bought a new phone so he gave me his old Xperia Z, which I intended to use as a secondary device
Here's the issue:
-The Z charges only when it is powered off, and that too very slow. Charging it overnight brings it from 0 to 65%
-I can't get my desktop to even detect the phone when it's connected either switched off or switched on. I see nothing in devices and printers
-I ripped apart an old charging cable and tried to charge it through the pogo pin slot (image attatched) it charges alright but that's the only way I can charge the device. Since I intend to install a custom ROM on it, I need to unlock the bootloader, and that's impossible without connecting to a computer
-Also when I connect a usb drive through USB OTG it just glows its led and does not blink it
I'd like to know what the issue might be and what are possible solutions
I think the problem is in hardware and the connections of one of the data pins of the USB port is broken.
I'm facing battery charging issue in htc one m7 ul
The problem is that phone connects normally to the PC in Fastboot mode and in powered on OS mode. Even i can flash RUU in fastboot mode.
But in power off mode when i connect it to PC, usb device not recognized appears (just like faulty charging port).
I got another smartphone which connects as MTP device in powered off mode.
But this htc one creating problems for and that's why facing different kind of charging issues. Also changed the battery but nothing.
Any possible solution please...
