hello guys,
I have an xperia Z I have not unlocked anything or rooted my phone at all since I got it, I just did the normal OTA updates and now I have
C6602
4.1.2
build: 10.1.1.A.1.253
open sim (not locked on any carrier)
how can I manually update to the official 4.2.2 stock that was released yesterday without tempering with anything and without rooting or anything
help will be much appreciated.

Well check SUS/PCC for update first, but if there's none there either - Download a 4.2.2 Firmware (there's plenty) and flash with flashtool, there's guide pinned on the forums. Remember not to wipe data if you have important stuff on it.
Search, read and then read some more...
You have been a member here long enough where you should know that creating a Question thread in the Development forum is wrong.

Hello everyone,
I am having some trouble rooting my Sony Xperia Z1. I flashed firmware 14.1.G.2.257 which is what I am now running so that I could root my device. I downloaded vroot and tried to root it but I had no luck. It keeps coming up with an error. Am I using the wrong firmware or am I doing something wrong? I'm not sure. Any suggestions are appreciated. I have USB debugging enabled by the way.
Thanks.
You have to first downgrade to .534 root that firmware then ota update to 257. I used central europe tft and i got ota update.

Why thank you! Do you happen to have links? Google is my best friend, but if you have direct links, that would be very helpful.
EDIT: I rooted it now but how do I do an "OTA update" to 257? :s
EDIT2: Found it. Thanks, Google and thank you Jimvest. All good now.
Np =)

why dont you flash .230 directly using flashtool?
Dear sourabhp,
I'm new to these experiments and consider myself a script kiddie. if you can send me the link of .230, that will be great help.
Thanks

Dowgrade Xperia ZR from 4.4.4 to 4.3
I updated my Xperia ZR (C5502) to KitKat 4.4.4 using PC Companion and the entire phone touch screen has gone crazy, I have tried to reset the phone but still the same issue persists. I took it to Customer service to get it downgraded to Jelly bean which they denied. So I ask for your help. . . . . I just want my phone back to jelly bean, dont want root or any additional features. Just my Xperia C5502 back to its original self.
I have gone through a lot of posts in this forum and all of them talk of flashing with an old firmware and then rooting and then flashing with new firmware with "System" unchecked in Sony Flash tool. So please suggest the necessary steps to change the firmware from 4.4.4 to Jelly bean 4.3
Please help at the earliest. . . . . stranded with a crazy phone that has a mind of its own right now!!!!!!

Hi, I have a question. A had a rooted Z1. I had to give it to service and now it is unrooted. Obviously. I am on 14.4.A.0.157 now. My question is whether I should wait for official Lollipop update? Will I be able to root then? Or should I root now? I won't receive the official update then most probably. I just would like to add I just want root, not custom ROM now. Thanks for advice.
update using flashable zip and stripped ftf like how it used to be done
Thanks. Will this still work after official Lollipop update?
I haven't go to try it yet, but waiting on feedback, I posted the zip and ftf stripped
Hi guys can you please tell me how to or were to look if i want to root my sony xperia z3 5.1.1 firmware 23.4.a.1.200
thanks in advance
Maybe you'll be more successful when you ask/search in the correct forum for Z3. This is Z4/Z3+, which neither has a 5.1.1 firmware, nor is it rootable without unlocking the bootloader.
Cheers
Kingroot will root the Z3 now. But as Silent_simmal said, this isn't the correct forum.
