Delete "ducking" from personal dictionary - Verizon LG G2

Anyone know how? I really hate it when android tries to auto correct a certain word to "ducking" every time

Add the word to dictionary it works for me.

Yes just tap it twice when it shows in the prediction box, first tap bypasses the spellchecker, second tap saves it to the dictionary (it gives a prompt beside it that says "tap again to save")
Sent from my Xposed G2

It's already added to the dictionary, problem is android insists on defaulting to "ducking" using predictive text, so I have to spell the whole word out to get it to stop. On top of that, I dont always spell the word correctly anyway, I may actually hit "d" and begin typing, which means it will always predict "ducking" as the word. Since I will never use the word "ducking" for anything in my life, I dont need it to EVER try to autocorrect or predict to that.

When I type a certain word and the lg keyboard change it to ducking I just hit backspace then space and the word I originally typed in reappears. Next time I try use the original word it works, I.e. doesn't get changed to ducking.

Another thing you might try, depending on the keyboard you are using, is that sometimes in the Language & Input settings, or in the keyboard settings, there is an option to "Block offensive words". Try looking for that and unchecking it if you find it.

That option is for the Google voice keyboard. It converts spoken offensive words to **** unless you turn it off.

I think I do remember seeing that before, but I also know that the Android Keyboard (from AOSP roms or from the Play Store) has that option too. However, seeing as I don't know what keyboard the OP uses, I was generalizing that there *could* be that option. Not sure if there is or not. But mine has the option.

[Q] Can anyone tweak "Swype" so that it will use Google voice recogniser?

I'm looking for a keyboard which supports both full line selection when highlighting and also uses Google voice recogniser? Otherwise I'm looking for a fix to tweak "Sywpe" so that it will use Google voice recogniser. Let me explain:
My preferred keyboard is "Swype" because it's the only keyboard I've ever been able to find on which, when highlighting/selecting text, it's possible to select full lines (up and down arrows) as well as character by character (left and right arrows).
However, because Swype is the Note's native keyboard, it defaults to Samsung's Vlingo voice recogniser and won't let me choose and use Google's.
Thus what I'm looking for is either an alternative keyboard which supports selecting text by line, not just character, and also uses Google voice recogniser, or else - and preferably - a hack for "Swype" that will allow it to use Google and not Vlingo.
Can anyone help at all?
Thanks.

Just select Google in Settings->Language and input->Voice recogniser instead of Vlingo. Then when you hit the microphone it will use that.

I'm afraid that's not the case. Swype defaults to Vlingo regardless of whether it or Google is the selected voice recogniser. That's the point of my problem; Swype doesn't seem to want to recognise Google, and I presume that this is because Samsung want you to use their keyboard and their voice recogniser.
Use the stock swype which comes with the stock rom on galaxy note and there u have that feature.

One of us is wrong here! I wouldn't for a moment suggest it were you, so I must have a flaw with my Note. It's rooted, but running the stock rom and indeed the stock Swype keyboard. However, regardless of whether I select Google or Vlingo, Swype always uses Vlingo. I have confirmed this by installing three alternative keyboards, all of which will use whichever of the two voice recognition options I pick. But Swype won't. If I could but find an alternative keyboard which supports highlight-selecting text by line, not just character by character, I would be very happy to dump Swype, use it, and solve the Vlingo/Google problem that way. But it seems that Swype is the only keyboard which supports line by line highlight-selecting.

Try SwiftKey, may be worth a go. There's a limited free version you can test before purchasing, very good keyboard and able to highlight lines of text.

Many thanks. I'm very encouraged when you say it's possible to highlight complete lines of text, but thus far I've not been able to work out how to select any text at all! Could this be a limitation of the free version, perhaps? It certainly allows Google voice recognition, so if I could crack the text-selection part I may have solved my problem (or rather you may have, many thanks). Could you be so kind as to let me know how you text in the full version? I fear it may not be possible in the free one.
The other thing I would ask is whether it's possible in the paid version (it isn't in the free one) to switch off all predictive text, auto-spelling, etc? I'm afraid I'm old-fashioned and don't like any kind of prediction or help with my typing!

To highlight text within the text input box, just press and hold on a word, the highlight will highlight a portion of text, then you can drag the marker to include any further text required. Just tested and works well. I have the tablet full version which is excellent.
As to options with predictive text, you can set it to only offer suggestions which pop up above the line and need to be selected (for accurate typers) or to auto correct which constantly changes input (for speedy typers). I'm like you and don't like too much input as I'm relatively accurate and find the foremost very usable, not too intrusive.

Thanks very much for the info. Ah, so text selection requires dragging the markers to where you want them. Swype's way is so much neater; you press "Highlight text" and then just move the left/right/up/down keys to select whatever characters, words or lines you want.
In other words, it's done entirely from the keyboard. I really am beginning to get the feeling that Swype is the only keyboard that does this. I've now tried A.I Keyboard, Perfect Keyboard, SWiftkey, Super Keyboard, TouchPal Keyboard, TSwipe-Pro, Big Buttons Keyboard and Ultra Keyboard, all of which allow selecting text by using the left and right arrows, but none the up and down arrows.
Can anyone suggest any other possibilities?
You can download the Swype beta and get Nuance voice input which is superior to Google's. The text you see here is dictated directly through Nuance.

I've played!
Unfortunately, this beta version doesn't seem to get on well with my Note at all. There are a number of small bugs which I could probably live with - and completely accept, knowing that this is only a beta - however there are two biggies. Firstly, the return key doesn't work!! And secondly it's not possible to switch off predictive text (I hate predictive text with a passion and simply can't use it). It's a great shame because Nuance voice that looks fantastic and works really well, but another bug I have is that you can't see the results of your dictation until you close the keyboard.
So unfortunately Swype Beta isn't the answer for me after all, therefore I'm still looking for an alternative keyboard, if anyone else can suggest any please?
Thanks.

Unfortunately I can't. Vlingo isn't there under settings/apps, at least not as "Vlingo" or "Samsung Vlingo". Either it's there under a completely different name or else it's cleverly embedded in the firmware and doesn't appear at all.

[Q] Physical Keyboard autocorrecting! WTF!

Running stock OTA jellybean, (without device wipe) (rooted). Don't know when this happened, but my phone corrects my words automatically when I type using the physical keyboard. For instance, every time I type "lol" it auto-changes it to "AOL". I even went into the "Language & input" settings, and disabled the "auto-replace" setting under Physical Keyboard. Then rebooted the phone.
And it STILL autocorrects my typing! I dont mine it underlining misspelled words, but I certainly don't want it assuming what I type. That's the whole point of the physical keyboard. I want what I type.
Any suggestions here?

Even am facing the same issue!!!
On ICS, I had an option wherein the Auto-Correct used to work for the Onscreen typing whereas it used to leave it on me what am typing when using the Physical Keypad.
Disabling the Auto Correct, as the screenshot shows, will disable to Auto-Correct for OnScreen typing too, which I don't want! Can't I control Auto-Correct for each of them separately like I could on ICS??

I thought that too, but I did the option as in the screenshot, and my on screen keyboard still shows suggestions, buts doesn't auto correct. Try it, and see if that is what you need.
For me, I hate auto correct. Im ok with suggestions, but dont auto change things for me, so this fix is exactly what I needed.
This is an easy fix. I had the same issue. There are two steps.
Go into settings, Language & Input and uncheck auto-correct. (I assume you already did this.)
Next, in the Language & Input menu, scroll to Android Keyboard (AOSP) and click the gear icon. Scroll down and there is and option to disable Auto replace. Uncheck that.
Disabling both of those fixed it for me.

Thanks for making this thread. I just upgraded my ROM and had the exact same problem. It sucks that it removes the autocorrect for touchscreen typing too. The fact that these are no longer separate makes me sad. Death of QWERTY. I'm going to cry when I have to get a touchscreen only phone

I agree! Why in the world would you have 'physical keyboard' broken out with its own settings and then not actually respect those separate settings?! And otherwise why would you NOT have separate settings/parameters for separate keyboards on the phone? Like the OP says, this is the POINT of a physical keyboard; I want you to type WHAT I type, not what you THINK I should type.
Anyway... thanks, guys, for the info here.

Deffo SwiftKey 4 with flow, it doesn't lag with the revolutionmod messaging app and the predictions are spot on. Also, flow works really well and it's really fast. I don't use flow alot but it's a nice feature to have to show off what Android can do when compared to iOS. I recommend SwiftKey, it's the number 1 paid app on Google Play for a reason: it's amazing.

Well, I've searched everywhere for any "solution" of this, and as far as I know it's system notification. In last versions we had to press on the input and then we selected which keyboard we wanted to use, in this version of Android supposedly its the way to change the keyboard we want. Yes its setted up as default keyboard. Swiftkey says its nothing with them, it's a Android System thing, so nothing to do.. lol

.757 FCs with spell checkers?

Hi there,
I notice that on .757, using the spell checker when using the keyboard will cause the app to FC. I'm not sure if I'm the only one, here's how to test it:
1. Install a keyboard that has a spell checker (Nextapp Keyboard, Google Keyboard).
2. Reboot.
3. Go to Settings -> Language and Input -> Spell Checker. Ensure the radio button is selected, and Spell Checker is enabled.
4. Open any textbox which invokes the keyboard. Type a word, gibberish, then a word, eg. 'hello helly hello'. 'helly' should be underlined in red.
5. Tap the underlined word, and a small popup should display showing possible correct words. Pick any one, and it will FC at this point.
6. Repeat step 6, but your first word should be gibberish, eg. 'helly hello'. When you correct it, it does not FC.
Let me know if anyone is running into this issue on .757. Thanks!

finding apps with the horizonal swype, how activate keyboard?

As written, I have before to swipe down the screen then will appear a search edit text, then i have to click to make the keyboard pop up is really tedious everytime i am looking for an app to do this intermediate step, would not be possible to have it instantaneous, how can samsung miss such a basic user experience thing in 2018?
you mean swipe up to open app drawer?
anyways, keyboard appearing by default can acctualy be a nuisance. android is all about posibilities and not being locked in.
also just put a widget or shortcut to google search somewhere. it searches in all items and launches the keyboard by defaut because its a search app. sometimes different apps or sections of a system behaves differently because of the intent.
