My brother has an LG G2 (verizon), I rooted his phone for him because he's not much of an android enthusiast himself. He wanted to get rid of some bloatware on stock rom so he downloaded a root unintaller, and in the process of it, he uninstalled something he wasn't supposed to. I don't know exactly what process/apk it was, but it was a system file. Now almost every system app force closes, (phone, mms, contacts, settings). I tried a factory reset, and the problem remains. He is still rooted, and I know the best workaround would be to flash a new rom (custom or stock, i dont really care), but that's where the problem comes in. I am trying to install this:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2715496 AutoRec to get a custom recovery, so I can flash a new rom, but because settings instantly force close, I cant enable to install from unknown sources. I tried to adb push the apk, but after about an hour of trying, adb doesn't recognize the device. I tried both a wired, and wireless adb attempt (idk if its even possible to adb push an apk via wireless, but I tried, and it says my device is unauthorized, so didn't work. Is there any workaround to my problem? I downloaded an app that enables usb debugging, but adb still doesn't recognize, even after i installed the driver. Been at this for hours with no luck, would be great if one of you knew a way to fix this dilemma.

Just return it to stock using the guide on the main page. You can disable apps via App Manager without having root. If he does root it again, tell him to rename files to .bak instead of deleting them...
Hello there everyone, total noob here.
I have tried to "root" my S3 LTE using this method: http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...-cf-root-cwm-recovery-ported-supersu-t1914394 (or more likely this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=45291825&postcount=306 ). Everything went great, Odin has shown a pass and it was successful while installing CWM, then I installed Supersu through CWM (only thing I did differently was putting a supersu zip file on internal storage) and that was a success too. I did everything like it said, even without plugging out my phone. After rebooting everything went down...
1. Knox is blocking SuperSU, someone reccmmended that I should have tried to disable it by installing supersu.apk manually, but then it has shown a popup that supersu doesnt have access to binary files. I have checked with root checker and it said that device isnt rooted...
It wouldnt bother me much, because having root isnt necessity for me, but...
2. I cannot access internet via wifi. It connects to router, signal is pretty decent, but still, when I try to use a build-in browser/chrome it just doesnt connect. Nevertheless, I can connect via 3/4g with no problems at all.
Now, I dont have root AND internet access.
Other info that might me useful:
Android 4.3
Null IMEI: no
Baseband: i9305XXUEMK1
I have performed factory reset, still no use.
Any help regarding repairing wifi, getting root access or bringing back state before "rooting" would be appreciated.
Regards,
Maziu92.

Just download the "SuperSU version 2.02" apk and install it. Its provided in this thread. (its newer than whats currently on Google play)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...covery-i9305-cwm-philz-twrp-versions-t2694249
It will ask to disable KNOX. select YES.

The best thing i can suggest you is moving to the new 4.4.4 Stock Rom
http://forum.xda-developers.com/gal...ck-rom-4-4-4-gt-i9305n-i9305nxxufni4-t2886807
Use Odin v3.07
and then (if u want) root it using "CF-Auto-Root-m3-m3zh-gti9305.tar.md5."
and install "SuperSU version 2.02"

Oh, I did it, that's why it said the binary was missing. But I did it other way around:
1. I have flashed CWM like it said in second link provided in first post
2. Installed SuperSU 2.02 from zip file on internal card though CWM instead of file provided in thread (I could have installed remove-boot-recovery too, but I didnt notice that I needed that. Anyway, I did that later)
3. Rebooted and tried to turn on - supersu was still blocked by knox :/ BUT!
4. I have installed manually supersu.apk, then opened it via installator (important! Dont tap 'done' but 'run'!) and next I didnt get the "missing binary" popup but if I want to disable KNOX. Well, yeah, I do, so I tapped OK and it looped and looped... http://www.reddit.com/r/galaxys5/comments/2a92qq/supersu_stuck_disabling_knox/cisq087 found this soulution and it worked (reboot phone and start supersu again). Sorry about my short memory, but I think I needed to install supersu.apk manually again and tap disable once more time, but disabling KNOX took a few seconds.
5. And then I went to the settings in Supersu and tapped option 'install supersu into /system', rebooted and it worked fine!
5.a To make sure it really works I downloaded (via 3g ) Root checker and it said it is rooted.
So now I have root, yaay, but still no Wifi access :/

I have been using odin 3.07.
Really, It is the only way to get back wifi? Are there any other options apart this?
Nooby questions:
-will it work with my phone? It says that its "MODEM: I9305XXUFNI3" and mine is XXUEMK1.
-in the meantime I have read about efs files/folder, what are they for and should I somehow backup them?
-while flashing 4.4.4 it is possible that my IMEI will go null?
-will it be possible to go back to 4.3?
I dont want to brick it or anything, thats why I am asking.
And of course, thanks for your help, Tharinduwijewardane ^^
Edit:
Actually, I have managed to repair my WIFI connection without flashing new rom etc.... So what was wrong, you will ask? Me.
I have downloaded adblock (before factory reset) and it asked to connect via proxy, so I did. And then I have disabled it because it was blocking SuperSU along with KNOX. And my phone tried to connect with internet via proxy, but it couldnt, because of this configuration.
Found this by complete coincidence (my GF told me to check if I get connection though Chrome and it said that it cant connect because of proxy settings). It is strange that this configuration was still there, even after factory reset.
Oh well, case solved, thanks again for helping and even everyone else for checking this out^^
glad to hear u got it fixed.

So I successfully unlocked and rooted my phone with various methods because Boost Mobile didn't make it easy, and then managed to root via TWRP,
The reason why I rooted the phone is because I want to remove bloatware like Connection Optimizer and Boost Zone.
I got a hold of a root explorer copy and managed to delete the .apk files with their respective helping files.
On top of that, I got another application to remove the installed apps and it worked.
So, after a while of using the phone without a hassle, it just randomly turns off.
And when I boot it up again, the apps are back and more annoying than before.
I have no idea how to change folder permissions (I forgot, I did it once on LG Venice but that was a while ago)
And I really need help, the bloatware takes up to 2gb and its annoying with the constant bombardment of notifications.
Please, if you can, HELP ME.

Have you flashed a kernel with write protection removed? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=57174863&postcount=1
I've got the BOOST as well and that kept the bloatware off but occasionally they will try and re-download from the Play Store so I had to turn automatic updating of apps off and update apps manually as they come.
EDIT: I was waiting for my new user time limit to submit this. Didn't see the exact same answer posted above. That kernel worked for me (Boost 510). The later ones with performance enhancements did not. I am now bloat free.

I have that already flashed, that's the one I posted. I've now got just a base system by uninstalling EVERYTHING you can imagine. I'm just saying occasionally it would try and re-download some apps but now I've got automatic updating turned off it doesn't do it anymore.

Your phone has to be in FASTBOOT not the os, but I assume you know that. Try adb kill-server and then adb start-server and then do the fastboot flash boot b.img or turn the computer off and turn it back on and try again. I've had this problem a couple times, these two methods worked.

Yeah, the dev's are looking into it. It's a known issue.
I have a HTC one, rooted. been running CM nightly's for over a year now and been very happy. 2 weeks ago, the nightly was CM12, and I flashed it. phone locked up shortly after, and would go into a boot loop. I could get into TWRP, tried flashing each of 4 saved recovery points. none worked, kept going into the boot loop. playing around in TWRP, I found, now not sure where a May 2014 CM nightly, and flashed it. it worked, kind of. the phone came back as a new phone, asking me to put my name in for the first time and tried to sign into my google acct, which did not work. So I am running 11-20140504-SNAPSHOT-M6-m7spr. However, if I click on PLAYSTORE, say to get Titanium Backup back on the phone, it quickly opens, then closes. there is a window on the second screen that says I need to sign into my google acct. I tap that, and it quickly flashes and disappears. Most of the apps I had are gone, but the files seem to be intact on the drive. I can boot into the bootloader, but when I select recovery, it appears to enter recovery, I get the blue TWRP initial screen, it goes black, and then repeats, so I can not go into recovery to flash a CM11, or flash anything.
can anybody help me fix my recovery and/or google account and/or playstore to get my recoverty and backup apps back. I feel if I can get into recovery, I can flash a new build and be back in business, maybe
I have copied my whole drive to my computer, so if I have to go back to factory reset and start over, I can do that, I just wanted to save time If I can fix recovery.
thanks in advance for your help. p.s. you probably can tell I am a step and a half above a newbie, so keep that in mind, thanks

Thank you BD619, I want to reflash TWRP, I think that is my best chance to making everything better. I draw your attention to last sentence, a step and an half above a newbie. if I recall, I open a DOS prompt and change directories to the phone, not sure how to figure out what the phone's letter will be, and I type some commands, again, not a clue. could you direct me to where I can relearn this aspect, cyanogen's updater was so easy.......kind of lost touch with the basics.
again, thankyou!
@blairan try this.
1. Boot into bootloader > fastbootusb
2. Open a cmd window from your platform tools folder or the folder I attached below.
3. Rename twrp to twrp.img ( remember windows hides extensions sometimes so just twrp should be fine) and put it in the folder you used to open the cmd window.
4. Type fastboot flash recovery twrp.img and hit enter...this should flash twrp for you.
5. Press power once and it should take you back to hboot where you can scroll down and choose recovery to confirm it flashed.
Tried in my ADB, and also open the file you linked to. booted phone into fastboot usb, double clicked on fastboot.exe, the dos window appears for a half a second, then closes. this is the same behavior as my google acct log in, playstore, and ebay app. I am able to use the phone, text and open email, play music, take and look at pictures. I hope you have some other ideas my friend

Did you unzip/extract the folder I attached?
Try this one I added a cmd.exe to the folder just click that it will open a cmd window.
BD619, success, kind of. thanks for the CMD app, it opened the window and it stayed open. flashed the latest twrp, and it is now running. I put cm11 20150106 on the phone. I opened twrp. and flashed the nightly. it said flash was successful. I rebooted. nothing looked any different that the may build. I went into settings, and it says I am running that version. but.... I still can not get playstore to open. I tap it, it instantaneously appears, then closes. most of my apps are listed in the apps section of settings, but they are not opening.
should I try to flash the cm12 ? would like to get my apps, calendar back, my work apps. what did I do? what can we do to fix this?
again thanks for your help.

I would suggest running an RUU at this point and starting fresh.
Could be something corrupt on your phone causing the problems.

ok, making some headway here. I went back into twrp, and since it is a newer version than what I had, I tried to restore a recovery point from twrp. it seemed to work. so I then flashed a a recent nightly. I am not getting what my phone looked like then, but it seems to think it is new and just starting, because I am now being offered to sign in to my google account. one huge problem, android keyboard stops running, then android keyboard (ASOP) stops running. I can now open playstore, and it stays open, asking me to open an account, or an existing account, which is good, but no input device, which is bad. flashing the most recent build to see if that helps.....
still no keyboard, now the 'back button' stopped working.....
and, should have quit fooling around, bricked again.

ok, got it running again, flashed the latest cm-11 playstore is now working, the back arrow is not, and the android keyboard is also not functioning. I downloaded google keyboard from the playstore. I went into apps and disabled android keyboard and google keyboard is now running fine, and the back arrow now works. I see titanium backup listed in apps in settings, downloaded, and all, but it is not in the apps menu. in fact lots of apps are in settings, but not in the menu area. any ideas, short of wiping the unit to out of the box and re-rooting and all of that?

BD619, I think I am back on track here. something must have gotten corrupted when I tried to flash the cm12 nightly. anyhow, I ended up uninstalling titanium backup and then reinstalling it. works great, and I have been restoring apps from TB, and they all seem to be fine. Will get back to where I was, but with a lot fewer steps, I think. anyhow thank you for your time and encouragement.
The first few times I used Kingroot to achieve temp root, it worked great and then just went back to unrooted after a while. One time after rooting, it was spammed with error messages that the play store and other apps were crashing. I rebooted the phone and it seemed to fix it. The errors were gone and so was root. I tried kingroot again and I had the same problem. I did the same reboot and then deleted the kingroot app. I thought everything was fixed then until I plugged my phone in to charge. It shut down even though it was around 75%. I didnt know what i was doing so I put it in recovery mode and choose factory. I thought this would do a factory reset but now when my phone powers up all my apps and stuff is there. Please advise how to completely rid my device of kingroot. Thanks in advance
Update: When I started in factory mode, there was a testing app called commserver or something like that running. I saw in other forums to reboot to remove that and i did and it worked. Still would like advice on removing kingroot completely.

To remove Kingroot completely, you need to reflash the system partition. You can do this by plugging your phone into a computer, installing the Verizon Upgrade Assistant, and using the "repair your phone" option. Doing this will wipe your phone, so backup any data first.

Thanks, I'm kinda a noob so could you walk through the steps like you were talking to a baby? Like do I put my phone in recovery mode and then download the version thing on the computer? How do you suggest backing up my phone? Sorry for the bother, I'm new to this stuff. Thanks again
Sure:
1. Boot your phone normally. Backup whatever data you want to preserve. Make sure that whatever backups you make are stored in a place that is outside of your phone.
The best way to backup your phone depends on what you want to backup. If you're worried about losing contacts, don't be. I'm pretty sure Google backs those up automatically. You can make sure by going to https://www.google.com/contacts/. If you see contacts there, you're good. If you're worried about losing pictures, plug your phone into a computer and use a file browser to copy the folder called DCIM to your computer. If you want to try backing up your texts, there's an app on the play store called Super Backup that might help. Just make sure that you transfer whatever backup file it makes to a cloud drive or your computer.
2. Plug your phone into a computer running Windows (I'm not sure if it what I'm about to describe works on a Mac or not, but I know that it does not work on Linux). You should get a pop-up that says something like "do you want to install the verizon upgrade assistant?" Install it. If you don't see the pop-up, install this instead: https://motorola-global-portal.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/88481. This is the Motorola Device Manager, and it's basically the same thing.
3. If you're using the Verizon tool, select "repair device" and follow the instructions. If you're using the Motorola tool, look for something that says "repair phone" or something like that, and follow those instructions.
4. The tool will wipe your phone, along with all of that nasty Kingroot stuff that tries to make modifications to /system despite the fact that /system is write-protected until you unlock with Sunshine (which is why it messed up your phone).
5. If you decide you want it, download Sunshine from here: http://theroot.ninja/download.html.
6. Go into your phone's security settings and allow installation of apps from unknown sources.
7. Click on the Sunshine apk that you downloaded to your phone to install it.
8. Open the Sunshine app and follow the instructions. If, when your phone reboots, you see a bootloader unlocked warning message instead of the black and white Motorola M symbol that usually appears, it was successful. If it was unsuccessful, keep trying. It should get it after a few tries.
