I have a tablet that won't turn on or charge. The dock will charge so I know the charger is good. I have read through the forums on similar issues but haven't quite found the same issue. When I press and hold the power button the orange light will flash twice but the tablet will not boot. I have tried charging with a phone charger (5V) as suggested in another thread for 24 hours to no avail. I suspect the battery is dead but I would like feedback from forum members. The tablet and dock is still under warranty in Australia but alternative suggestions from forum members would be welcome.
I have the exact same problem but mine turns on when its charged, if you disconnect it it just turns off. Do you have any ideas ??

I have been visiting this site to get tips and tutorials on how to root my nook color and im very grateful for this site.
I now have a really serious problem. All of a sudden this afternoon, my nook switched off and then came back on but kept restarting itself on the nook color screen.
I turned it off and charged it when i got home. it came up with a screen saying power too low - wait for 15 minutes.
I came back after an hour and the same thing. Tried restarting it countless times but no change. I think my Nook color is bricked
I have also posted a video on youtube but i cant post it on here because i am a newly registered member
If you have any suggestions, please help me.. otherwise im afraid this book might only serve as a coaster on my coffee table
Leave it on charge over night.....
It seems to have worked after putting it to charge with the original power cable..really weird

You can't use another cable or charger. That was your problem.
The thing is that generic cables charge the nook very slowly, it takes between 10-12hrs to fully charge.
Hi all
This is my first thread - although I have been on xda many many years. I have searched the forums before posting this.
This morning whilst travelling to work by car I decided to recharge my Note (which was at 0% due to the previous day of use). I unplugged my Galaxy S2 and plugged the charger into the Note.
The Note would not take any charge from this USB car charger.
Now I know that the charger outputs 1000mA and that it was pumping 750mA into the S2 literally moments before.
I had started to think that the Note was bricked as the low battery and a yellow triangle were the only thing that the display would show, however, I could force the device to boot into Recovery mode (Redpill says the batt % in the corner - it stayed at 0%).
I tried a battery pull. I tried getting the device to reboot system from Recovery and I also tried wiping the battery stats.
The only fix I found was when I plugged it into a 1000mA AC charger.
Has anybody else had this problem? It could be quite an inconvenience if one were to run out of juice (ie 0%) whilst on the move, expecting to be able to charge from the car usb charger...

Please post all questions in the Q&A section
Use Original charger and charge for 1 hour. do not try to turn it on. then try to turn ON.
if this doesn't work. try with different Note battery.
Hi. I got it to work eventually using an AC charger but my point was - has anybody else experienced this inability to recharge when at 0% and with only a USB charger or car charger available.
Samsungs recognise when they are plugged into AC Mains or USB don't they. Could there bee something in this that we may have to tweak, within a script during boot?

I hve this problem! Is it because I'm using non genuine chargers / cables?
I think it may be something to do with the juice it requires to get the initial kick from 0%... perhaps it will only take charge from AC in these .

I got this when i flowed all juice to 0%. I've used only genuine wall adapter / charger and got that triangle + ! too.. I just let it be that way and fired up Note few mins after that. Then it started to charge..

Yes, other users have faced this issue. It is not uncommon and has been in various posts over the last few months. As mentioned - use original charger and leave phone turned off for an hour or so - this will kick start it.
I had same problem with Blackberry bold - once below 5% would not charge unless I turned screen off and waited for at least 30 minutes.
I know this sounds all very well in hindsight, but I never let my phone drop below 20% - always charge it around that time. I still get around 2 days on average use but refuse to let it go any lower than that.
Would also recommend purchasing a second battery in case - with a separate charger.
Hope that helps - you are not alone
another one in the club......
i never let the battery go below 10%
below 10% my hands start shaking and my transpiration raise
at 5% i got defects to my view and i cant speack properly
below 5% my body becomes cold and covered by psoriasis.....
Hello, just about to pull the trigger on a new xperia ZU, but i wanted to see if anyone had any tricks for me to try on my Xperia Z. I was running near the latest CM 10.2 without issues for awhile now. Last night while i was bowling the battery died( nothing new happens all the time to me ). When i returned home i hooked it up to the wall charger for about 30 minutes, came back and still no life. I have tried multiple chargers and multiple cables with no luck. Device has been plugged into power all night and all day so far. When i attempt to power on with it unplugged i get the 3 pulse red led. When i hit the power button with it plugged in all i get is a solid red LED. Nothing more, nothing less. Cant get into recovery or anything. Most of the time a hard brick involves a mis flash or something along those lines....any idea what could have happened to mine?

It might be the battery...
Its not advisable to full discharge the battery but it seems that u did it a few times..
The battery might not take any charge as the red indicator means low battery...
Tried a new battery,i know after removing the rear panel n say good bye to water resistance but is worth a try...
Or u can send it to me for free if u wanted to throw it away...
hope this helps...
Had the same thing happen
I had the same thing happen to me. From what I read trying to troubleshoot it seems like the Xperia phones in general can take 30 minutes + after a full battery drain to even register that a charger is connected. I would try just connecting it to the Sony charger for a few hours and see if that works.
There is also a tip about holding down the power button when plugging in the USB charger and continuing to hold the power button until the phone turns on. Unfortunately, can not find the original post right now. EDIT: Found it. http://talk.sonymobile.com/t5/Xperia-T-TX/Xperia-T-Wont-Charge-Turn-On/td-p/252686/page/4
In my case the red light would not even come on when the charger was connected but would come on if I held the power button down while connecting the charger. After I did this for a couple minutes the phone booted and has charged normally ever since.
So its a mixed bag. Try just charging it for a while on the Sony charger or wall charger (not USB). Or try the power button trick.
Lesson I learned is I will not let the battery completely drain again.
Ahhahha it came back alive! I had tried pretty much every trick that has been suggested and it just wouldn't charge or start to boot. Left it on the main charger again last night and still no luck this morning. Again I decided to plug it into my computer's usb port( I did this multiple times already ) and I hit the power button, a backlight came on!!! and then sure enough there was the free xperia logo! I have no idea why it finally decided to power on, but its showing 1% battery so it was truly not charging any of the times it was left on a charger, computer or mains. Thanks for the responses guys, I appreciate it!
I know this thread is pretty old. But I'm having the same trouble. Xperia Z got bricked after battery drain. It wont recognize charging, i kept it on charge two nights in a row now. It did show a red LED while charging for some time and nothing else, but now its back to being stone dead. tried holding down the power button trick, didnt budge. I thought you can only hardbrick it by doing a wrong flash/update. dont know what happened in this case. is there anything else I should try or just take it to a shop and ask to change the battery?

man, try with a new battery, here in my country cost 14 euro . Or go in a service or buy a multimeter and measure the current of ur battery. Normal they from service will give u electrosock to bring it to life. And if will dont work i think u must sell it on piece and buy another
Same problem with my Z3 Compact: one day phone became hot and started to discharge rapidly and when battery became empty, cannot charge and cannot boot, only red LED is ON. I changed the battery and phone booted again. BUT when battery was discharged completely, phone cannot boot again, only red LED is on when trying to charge.
Looks like something wrong with motherboard is happening...
Xperia ZL battery completely drained, not starting up
I know this thread is old one, but I am having issue with my Xperia ZL. Its battery drained to zero and then whenever I plug in my charger, screen starts, Xperia Logo pops up, red light also starts and suddenly everything goes off. This goes on and on infinite number of times. Phone heats up but it doesn't turn on. I had issue with my battery, a couple of months back, so I replaced it with new one. If anybody has any solution about this, please let me know.
xperia z bootloop
im stuck on bootloop and apps keep on optimising through the cycle. phone overheats too .. how do i sort this one out? ..might it be a bad battery? any help on this
Hello all!
I have a Nook HD+, which has sat unused for about a year. Predictably, it does not turn on.
When I connect it to the power supply (tried with multiple supplies and cables), the LED lights up green; after 2-3 seconds, it turns orange and I can hear the voltage converter whine; after a few more seconds, the LED turns off, and the whine stops.
Pressing the power button just causes the same sequence to repeat. Keeping it pressed has no effect.
I have left it connected to the power supply for several hours, but nothing changed.
I have opened it and unplugged the battery. Connecting the power supply with the battery unplugged results in the LED flashing green/orange. Re-plugged the battery, and I'm back at the situation described at the beginning.
Any suggestion? Apart from "sell it for parts", I mean
hold power button for 10 seconds - it will either turn off or turn on the device.
hit on power button once again - hold it again for 10 seconds.
Hope it helps a bit.

Thanks for the suggestion, but it didn't work.
Regardless of how long I keep the power button pressed, the LED goes through the same sequence: green for 3 seconds, oranngo for 2 seconds, then turns off.
Looks like your battery is dead indeed. You could try to test its voltage using a voltimeter. How many contacts does it have? I think there are battery replacement being sold.
I had problems with my Nook HD+ last week. Though not as extreme as your issue, I left mine unplugged for a few weeks and it died completely. It didn't want to resurrect. Plugging it only showed the battery icon...even after two hours.
Left it on charge for 8 hours while I was off at Uni. Came back to it fully charged. So I would suggest at least leaving it on charge for a half day.
I tried to look into a replacement battery and they are apparently impossible to find...Hummingbird batteries are everywhere on eBay and specialty electronics sites. (I couldn't even find an HD+ battery on Alibaba or cheap Chinese sites.)
I wondered whether the aftermarket 4000mAH Hummingbird battery can be retrofitted. I haven't looked but given a soldering iron and ingenuity, I'm sure it can. A battery is a battery...given the voltage is right and 4000mAH is the HD+'s rating anyway. If you ventured to take that route, let me know how it goes.
(Also, I ended up finding a fix for the battery instantly dropping to 1% problem, which is why I came here to make a thread sharing the news for anyone else who has suffered. Off to do that now )

I had the same issue, I had to leave mine unplugged for like 24 hours and then leave it plugged in for a whole day. I'm afraid to let it turn off now.
is anyone else having issues with charging and AC with Resurrection remix rom?
i notice that when i use this tablet while connected to AC using the included power brick the battery still runs down instead of charging ,so is this normal?
what kind of POS device does not at least run off AC while keeping the battery at at least the same level it was when plugged in or slowing charging it while it is being used while connected to AC?
also this morning i went to turn my tablet on on and it is dead, it was plugged into AC all night
and it is still dead ,was charged and working when i went to bed left it plugged in all night wake up and it wont power on i just get the 1 red bar batter icon and won't turn on
i had this happen with my other fire 7 tablet, using their power brick ,tablet was plugged in all night wake up and turn it on and it is dead
is there an issue with the batteries in these things or are the amazon power bricks faulty it seems like they do not work properly at all , 2 tablets 2 different power bricks i have had the same issue with at least once
why don't the god damn power supplies charge the device? why don't they charge when you are using the device while connected to AC? and sometimes not at all even when device is connected to AC and not in use?
am i the only one experiencing this issue? could it be the custom rom? or is it more likely faulty design of amazon power bricks? or the battery itself?
these tablets are pretty new i might add and should not be having battery issues already , but who knows the chinese never make the same thing twice
i wonder if there will be a recall on these power supplies like there have from other more expensive device making tech companies lately

Nice. Suggest returning both devices so the other six dwarfs can get some sleep.
