[Q] Shellshock / Bash bug - Galaxy S III Mini Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hello everybody.
The web is talking about the Bash bug CVE-2014-6271 everywhere, and rightly so!
It's a little terrifying to be on the internet with my S3 Mini, knowing that I'm quite vulnerable.
In CyanogenMod there already seems to be a patch on the way: http://review.cyanogenmod.org/#/c/73936/
When can we expect this bugfix upstream in CyanogenMod for the S3 Mini?

Probably in the next nightly.
Sent from my GT-I8190 running tenshi_xp's PAC ROM 4.4.4.

CM in Razr I?

A simple question,
Will we get CM 10 or/and CM 10.1
I can see that our brother Razr M is getting CM 10 and CM 10.1
Why we don't have CM?
Thanks!

Becauseeee.... i think because our phone i unique... it sports an Intel processor, and its not the same arquitecture as an ARM device... so, maybe we don't have experienced developers yet... just be patient.
And because the razr M has got a JB version that the I does not have for the moment...

An upgraded question: Since we all had an oportunity to see that about Christmas the JB 4.1.2 - deblured verzion - leaked for Razr phones - does this verzion might have any impact on further development of cm10 for Razri, when the official JB is out? I'm not a developer and I'm aware that the leaked 4.1.2 is for arm processors and we are on intel. But would it be possible to use deblured 4.1.2 UI for easier development of cm10 for intel? The question is for developers and I apologise if it is too ignorant. Thanks.
Compiling for Intel isn't too much of a difference than compiling for ARM. The problems are:
-Lack of Jelly Bean but that is coming very soon
-Lack of usable source code (Motorola gave a corrupted kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=36451216&postcount=2)
Please use the search function next time because there are already various topics about this.

[Q] no 10.1 love

I was wondering if anyone knew why Cyanogenmod wasn't putting out a 10.1 version for the Verizon Samsung Galaxy Tab. There is 10 but not 10.1 which is Jelly Bean 4.2.2. They're releasing 10.1 for the samsung galaxy tab for other carriers just not Verizon.
There has always been CM10.1 built for p1c

There are 10.1 builds for the p1c, just not official ones from cyanogenmod. Their latest version is cm-10-20130512-nightly. The p1, p1l, and the p1n, all of which are samsung galaxy tabs all have cm 10.1 except for the model from verizon.
http://get.cm/?device=p1c
How official exactly you want it to be?

That's just 10 not 10.1. Although I enjoy Jelly Bean 4.1.2 I want Jelly Bean 4.2.2

You just need to look a little harder in this forum. If you go to the development page there are two unofficial builds of CM 10.1 for the p1c. I also have a verizon tab and I have been running cm 10.1 for several months. Go here for the latest build that I use. It adds a little more than straight 10.1 which I like but it's not quite AOKP. Plus your kernel will be on 3.0 instead of 2.6.
So next time check the development forum to find the builds.
Thanks I appreciate it, but I was just wondering if maybe cyanogenmod stated why they weren't going to release one for the verizon tab when they released ones for the other versions. I'm aware that unofficial mods existed for the p1c I was just more or less checking to see if someone ever heard why they weren't releasing an official version.

Because there's no dev for that device?

I am pretty sure jt1134 was the original dev for the p1c and he discontinued development for it after cm 10 became stable enough. I think the reason why the p1c has not been added to the cm tree is because the official cm 10.1 builds work off the 3.0 linux kernel and it has only been about a week since humberto has created a working 3.0 kernel while the gsm variants have had it for at least a month or so. There are still problems with it but they're getting ironed out pretty quickly. Right now recovery does not work and you have to flash a 2.6 kernel through hiemdall to flash an updated build through recovery.
So pretty much what has happened is that the cdma dev dropped it and the gsm devs are picking it back up.
thanks, that sucks because I don't even use the cdma anymore. I only use my tablet through wifi. Thanks guys

Kitkat vs Jellybean for Galaxy S I9000

Alright,
So i've been on my Nexus 4 for the past year and my brother took my SGS,
I'm currently on Jelly Bean and want to know if the upgrade to KitKat has the performance improvements that was claimed with the release.
You know, easier to run on lower mem devices and such.
Also, what must I look out for?
Do I need a special kernel to upgrade before, or update my recovery to some different version, or is there a higher risk of bricking/losing my efs than the usual download/flash? Can I easily downgrade to JB/ICS?
Thanks
Hello!
For me CM11 is faster than 10.1.3 and 10.2, additionally it's more united. Smaller amount of lags, and despite the fact it's nightly, ROM is pretty stable Of course wipe is mandatory, so back up everything.
Buckle up and enjoy CM11 Best regards.
EDIT: Flash any KK kernel if status 7 error.
Hi Roastmeat,
I've been using either cm 10.2 and cm11 on my Galaxy s i9000 and believe me you really will be surprised when updating the phone to Android 4.4 Kitkat (CM11). It really is a big improvement in terms of speed. It will breath new life in your Galaxy S
On highend devices you won't notice such a big increase in speed, but since kitkat was developed to support even more low end devices, the positve effects are noticed even more on "older" devices e.g. the Galaxy S.
Greetings!
My advice: stay away from Android 4.3 ( for example CM10.2) as it is the slowest Android version for our phones. Pick a ROM based on Android 4.2 ( for example CM10.1) or Android 4.4 (for example CM11) . I would suggest Android 4.4 , because our device really feels the benefit from it's optimisations.

[Q] Android 5.0.2 Lollipop builds for SGT8.9?!

Hi all!
In the past we have seen many ROMS which were ported with more or less modifications from the Galaxy Tab 10.1.
I just noticed that there are already some 5.0.2 builds for the SGT10.1.
Any chance to also get builds for our SGT8.9?
This would be awesome.
See for further infos:

Unfortunately it seems that the dev community for our beloved SGT 8.9 is a dying breed.
I'm using the SGH-I957 (LTE) variant, but the latest OS I could find was CM (based on Android 4.1.2). If you happen across any 4.2+ ROMs, please send them my way

[Q] Galaxy S GT-i9000 lollipop?

i heard that cyanogenmod wont be releasing cm12 or lollipop for gt i9000, is that true? does anyone know any rom that is trusted and stable? i really want lollipop! ?
Yes, it's true
Checkout the I9000 dev page... Few options available now with LP
...
i think that there is unofficial lollipop, you should search Google (or just replace you phone )
Yes, there's a Lollpipop build for I9000. In the development section a user named "humberos" posted a link to an OmniROM build for your mobile phone. It's a pretty good OS. I recommend you the 5.1.1 build, not the older ones.
Omni rom allready uploded lolipop for i9000
