Hi
I have:
Rooted the z1 4.4.4
Taken a TA backup
Unlocked bootloader
But i can't enter the default recovery or install custom one.
I have tried allmost every guide i can find, google and xda but it fails
And when i try the key combo to restart in recovery my phone starts in "safemode"
I want a custom recovery, help me out.. what am i missing
Xperia dosent have "stock "recovery.
You need to install one, of flash custom kernel with recovery in it.
Anyway, you have custom recovery for locked and unlocked bootloader in development section.

I recently attempted to root my N1 but after unlocking the bootloader and using superboot to gain root, everytime i boot up now i get an error that says "process system is not responding" I'm hoping this $600 paperweight can be turned back into a phone
You don't need to root if you unlocked the bootloader...
If there's a pulse, it probably ain't dead...
Download the ROM you wish to use, then use fastboot to flash a custom recovery, boot into recovery, wipe, then install the downloaded ROM.

I tried that with CM7 and it errors out on installing update.zip

It's not an 'update.zip' if you are trying to flash a full ROM. Select 'Install ROM from SD' if you are rooted and using Rom Manager, otherwise reboot into your custom recovery and select 'flash .zip from SD'.

Ok, i think i'm getting this now. You're saying that you don't need Root to flash a custom ROM if the Bootloader is unlocked, but for anything that requires Root (i.e Titanium Backup), you still need that additional step? So really, unlocking the Bootloader is pointless at the moment as using a combination of SOC and Rom Manager gives you the best of all worlds.
You don't need this step, since all the custom ROMs come pre-rooted. If you unlock the bootloader to install custom recovery.

Thanks, it's all useful info.
It's worth noting that not everbody wants to use a custom ROM, but they may still want Root and the advantages it brings, on their stock ROM. (Me for one!!)
Still, if you only want root access, why unlock the bootloader, since unlocking the bootloader only gives the ability to flash images (unless you want to flash a rooted stock image, in which case why root the rom you have)?

You probably still have the stock recovery my friend. Cuz you won't find installing zip from sd card if you don't have a custom recovery. So flash ar or clock work to install a custom rom. Good luck.

Hello Team,
I have successfully rooted my XSp using the DoolLord Method and also flashed the CWM but kept LB.
Few days ago I have installed Custom Rom but this made me lose my CWM. I have tried many ways to get my CWM back again but in vain. I do not get the second vibration after the sony Logo to get into CWM.
I have again went through the root procedures of DoomLord, the reboot fix and the Flashed the CWM. I now get the second vibration after the sony logo pressing the Vol + button should get me to CWM but the Xsp reboots. I am now out of steps.
An advise regarding this will be very helpful.
1. I need to get back to my stock Rom [C5302_12.0.A.2.254_India.ftf] using flashtool. So does it require unlocked bootloader to flash it?
2. Is there any way I can get the CWM back keeping this custom ROM so that i could restore the backup i have taken through CWM before installing this custom rom ?
Hope this thread finds helpful to people working on LB.

1. You can flash stock firmware using flashtool even if you are on locked bootloader
2. Try to install cwm manually by just moving the files and giving them right permission if not flash stock rom using flastool then root, install cwm and the restore your backup

I tried to flash the new Kitkat ROM on my stock-rooted ROM but flashed it wrong (as my bootload is not unlocked as needed).
Now I'm stuck on bootloop when I see the new ROM's logo showing up for few seconds but reboot imediately..
My recovery is also gone.. I can't access it.. (I have my backup there, I only need to reach it)
I tried to use flashtool and adb but I can't control them..
How can I flash CWM recovery through any of them?
Please provide link and explain I'm freaking out here..
Thanks!

Use fastboot to flash... Just make sure your phone is in fastboot/flash mode first
If your on locked boot loader then you have to do a ftf/flash tool restore

I have searched everywhere in dozens of posts about using the CWM recovery and backup and tried several things with no luck.
What I have: sony xperia tl lt30at, rooted, locked bootloader, 4.1.2 JB, .120 build#
What I think I have: CWM Recovery
What I am trying to do: Install XperimenT Custom ROM or some ROM that will work with lt30at (I just want to make something work)
What's stopping me thus far: I can't Backup my Stock ROM and can't get into Recovery
So far i have successfully rooted my phone and I believe that I have installed a CWM-based recovery --> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2012738 I have the zip file to the ROM that I want to use but I can't/don't want to do anything until I create a Backup of my stock ROM. I tried to do this through ROM Manger but every time I try it only reboots my phone without saving the backup. I read that I could create a Backup in Recovery mode but I'm also having trouble getting there. This makes me believe that I don't have CWM installed but the code in CMD read that it was successfully installed and I have a folder for it.
My Questions: Am I doing something wrong? Have I left out a step? Is this impossible to do with a locked bootloader?
Thanks in advance!
Try rebooting the phone and pressing volume up repeatedly when you see the Sony logo. Don't bother with rom manager.
I take it you didn't read the all in one thread.... All the info you need is there

I've already tried that. It looks as if its trying to load into recovery but it just continues on to boot up.

Well you have not installed recovery then.
Read the all in one thread, especially post 2 and 3, and see how to install recovery properly.
hi guys need you help. I guess I flashed Kernel wrong that's my phone now only vibrates when I press (long press) its powerbutton.
Details:
Phone C6903
Locked Bootloader
Flashed w/ TFT .108 Kernel
Flashed Trinity Vengeance RaptorX ROM
but when I flashed the F(X)TrinityUltimateK - then problem started ( I should have not flashed this one.. Argh!)... anyways, I was able to backup my ROM files to my /sdcard1 but the thing is I cannot boot the phone to Custom Recovery. Right now,I will just charge my phone for the meantime while waiting for your help and feedback.
Thanks for your help and recommended troubleshooting.
Revert everything to stock and start all over to get functional recovery. And from there you can do whatever you want.

So you mean starting from flashing kernel through Flashtool - rooting - then installing customer recovery - restore my backup files - Am I getting the process right?
In your OP,you say that your bootloader is locked, thats the problem.a custom kernel isnt gonna boot if the bootloader is locked,u hav to unlock it
Flash the 108 ftf, then install a recovery and restore your backed up files
Thanks.... flashed firmare - root and installed customer recov - restore data.. whew... I though that I need to throw the phone and just buy a crappy touch phone.
