Now that the wood back plates are popping up on Ebay, I'm wondering how difficult it would be to change out the stock plate with a wood one. It looks like there is no adhesive, flash or camera lens in these new backs, so I'm curious how hard it would be to migrate everything over. Does anyone have any experience doing this and want to give me some pointers? Also, if you don't reuse the adhesive, what product would you use in its place? Thanks in advance!
There is a thread in the accessories forum that might be of use to you in regards to back cover replacements.

On the G+ moto x community, someone posted pics of a swap that he did.
There's a you tube video of it. Try that Google thing. Instant answers.....sometimes.

I'll see myself out now...
I accidentally knocked over a cup of apple cider and some of it got into the USB port of the Moto X. I powered the device down immediately. Should I put my phone in a bag of rice? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Try cleaning it with rubbing alcohol on a cotton swab, apple cider is sticky

I had read that. Thank you for the suggestion. How likely is it that the cider got inside?

Ha! "Lenoto X." That's great. Makes me want to cry, but its clever nonetheless.

Make sure if you do cry, do not do it on your phone

Is the back plate (shell) easily changed out like the Moto G.?
Put my hands on the N6 for the first time today in a T-Mobile store, the N6, is an overgrown Moto G (2nd Gen.)..very, very similar..would be KOOL, if the back plate changes simply, in a few seconds, like the Moto G..or is it complicated like the Moto X (1st Gen.).?
The T-Mo store had the N6, strapped/cabled down..and could'nt even look at the back side of the N6..

The Moto G was designed to have a removable back cover, the Moto X's and the Nexus 6 weren't. The Moto X 2013's back cover is held on by clips, so removing it and replacing it while not exactly easy is fairly doable. The Nexus 6, the back cover is held on by adhesive, which would probably make changing it out a bit of a problem.
Full teardown here
You also have plenty of D-Brand skins to choose form if the look and feel of the back is not what you want.
Hey everyone,
Does anyone know where to get replacement back panel for the Moto X 2014? I thought I liked the leather, but I'm not sure about it anymore. I would like to try one of the plastic ones, definitely not the wood, I've been seeing some disasters from those. Is it possible at this point without contacting Motorola and their terrible customer service?
Before you post a lmgtfy.com link, I've looked already, and I'm not sure if I don't know what I'm looking for, or what, but I found a few sites...
etradesupply, and I think even Ebay have some parts that could be a potential replacement?
Edit:
Moto XT1095, if that makes a difference.

Double sided tape holds the shell on..I have attached a YouTube link, start at about minute 3:00 and you can see the removal process..
The new panel/shells that I have purchased from the eBay link I provided, come with the double sided adhesive already applied..just pull/peel off the plastic covering and apply to device..

Can you use the dbrand skins on the leather? I don't see the adhesive sticking, but what do I know? Lol.

Thanks for the video. I can see why the wood backs are peeling now. I'm totally not going to replace mine if I don't have to, but nice to know about the Sim tray trick.
iFixit have done a tear down on the Urbane. Interestingly even though it has two microphone ports, it only has one microphone.
