Hi guys, i buy a chromecast last week and i love it, but i have an very important issue,
I have a Moto X, and netflix installed, when i try to cast a movie, it simply cant, no logo of netflix or something on the tv, just the Tv turns black screen and return a message saying "Oops, thats not suppose to happen"
Is this a known issue? I can fix it?

Do you know what version the Chromecast is? I had a similar problem but it hadn't updated to the latest firmware, once it did that I had no more problems.
Also what version is your Netflix app? The latest Android version 3.7.2 does some strange new things that have caused problems for some people, like looking up new domain names not previously seen and using different DNS addresses to do the lookups.

Just wondering if anyone else is having this problem and if there's a known reason for it or solution to fix it.
A couple of days ago, my Chromecast quit playing links from Showbox and I can't figure out why. I used to get a show or movie here or there that Avia would say isn't compatible but now it's suddenly showing the error for literally everything I click, even episodes I successfully played a couple of days ago. It's not a shoebox issue because Avia will play the video until I hit the cast button.
Thinking it was my phone or Avia, I tried my wife's phone and Allcast with no success. I also thought maybe a Chromecast OTA broke compatibility, but I'm still on 15250. I even tried a factory rest on the Chromecast and wiping data on the apps involved.
I'm just out of ideas at this point. Anyone know what could be going on?
My wife and I both have Nexus 5's. She's stock and I'm on Paranoid Android.

That app isn't talked about here and a Mod will lock or delete this thread.

Sorry but showbox isn't allowed on xda because it violates copyrights and posting about it may get you and xda in trouble.
I've seen this with vGet, then Web Video Caster and now with the latest Netflix.
I'd seen this before with some apps, usually I switched to Netflix to get control and then disconnected from there.
The dev for Web Video Caster says he's using a Google library for the function and will contact Google after he checks further.
Latest Netflix - pause a show, disconnect, the show remains on the TV.
I wondered if this is widespread or not so I'm asking if others are seeing this.
I'm on the latest Chromecast version, stock.
i'm watching netflix right now on stock chromecast.
I have always had this problem since buying the chromecast in December, I have to cast YouTube to get out of netflix on both my htc one and my ipad. Are you by any chance using a dns service like unblock us? I am and Netflix said that could be the cause.

Nope, I'm as vanilla stock, out of the box as you can get.
This just cropped up for me, been using Chromecast since August.
@gianptune - thanks, but doesn't answer the question.
Today (July 9th) Google has released the anticipated latest Chromecast app that would allow us to screen cast our phones to a TV. It's only available for a limited amount of phone, which our Note3s are supposed to be supported.
However, the Play Store only shows v1.5.5.
Can someone verify this?
Try this apk. It's version 1.7.4
http://www.mediafire.com/download/wqhdjkt4zdrnrk7/com.google.android.apps.chromecast.app-1.7.4.apk
I only have android 4.3 and it requires 4.4.1 or higher so I can't test it fully. It installs for me but no screencast feature found.
After my first post, and after searching the interwebs I finally found this 1.7.4 version.
After install, it does exactly what they advertised. It screen casts everything to the TV. To test, I played a video in full screen mode from my PGA Tour app, and it looked beautiful! Especially in full screen!
*Update* the Chromecast in the play store still only shows v1.5.5. Which is says it's been updated on July 9th (today), so I can only assume our wonderful Note3s will not get this updated version through the normal "official" channels.
I hope I'm wrong.
I saw that too. I went online though, and found a 1.7.4, but it's not casting. It doesn't even show my Chromecast on the device when I try to cast. It just shows "My Device". It does show up in the Chromecast app though.

I searched that forum, and posted the problem, but with no answer. I have found though a couple others with the same issue, but they got no response to their questions either.

Just got a reply over in the Chromecast Help forums suggesting that my issue may be to being rooted, even though I'm still running the stock rom with a few bloatware frozen. They suggest unrooting my phone.
Just putting the solution out here for others. Personally, I'm not giving up my room just to Screencast.

Finally got the update notification from the play store a few hours ago. I'm currently rooted running DynamicKat 4.0
Says it version 1.7.4
Hey guys I researched online and I hope I am not making a duplicate thread here but my CC wont cast anything from a phone, tablet, or PC. I have had cutout issues before but I was atleast able to cast my Chrome Tab from my PC. Anyone have any ideas on how to fix this?
When I go to cast Netflix it says: Were having trouble playing this title right now. Please try again later.
YouTube says: There was an error playing this Title please choose another video.
Chrome from my PC cast tab says: Unable to cast to device, an unexpected error occurred.
Allcast just shows a black screen when playing a local .mp4 video file and wont load
Local Cast says my video file type isnt supported.
I reset cache, data, re-installed all these apps and factory reset my chrome cast. I have tried plugging in the power to USB and the supplied charger. I had to call Google directly yesterday because my CC unit would not stop boot looping. I fear I may have to call them and tell them I need a replacement.
Device:
VZW LG G3 Rooted. Nothing messed with only disabled apps.
G Pad Wifi running CM11
CC: Firmware 19084
Internet:
Time Warner internet 50MB/5MB
Motorola SB6141 Modem
Asus RT-N66U Dual band router
PS This was a CC from the Groupon Re-certified deal I dont know if that is my problem to begin with lol.
Thanks guys!
Hey! I have a thread addressing this issue and explaining how I resolved it. Hope it helps!

Thanks tried it and didn't work. I called Google and we found out the antennae was defective so I will be getting a replacement. :good: Kudos to Google I have never waited more than 3 min to get a representative.
Nice router by the way, i have the same you should try flashing it with ddwrt, if you're confident in your abilities . Makes a huge difference.
Hi, I've been trying to chromecast for the last few days. I came from a Nexus 6p which worked 100% with chromecast. If i use the web browser and try to cast from a video channel, it never connects to my chromecast or TV (with chromecast built in). I've tried the mirroring option but it never finds a chromecast. I've downloaded Google Home, that seems to have a bug where i can't login to my google account from my P20 Pro.
I've looked online and on here and haven't seen any other posts on it. It would be good to test. I am on the Dual Sim Three UK 8.1.0.102 (C782) variant.
Thanks
It has worked flawlessly using local cast app.
I've always found Google home glitchy.

Works flawlessly for me. I've had the P20 Pro since release and I've never had a problem using a Chromecast, although I did recently factory reset my Chromecast, so that may have fixed any issues.
I use Chromecast several times a day, and haven't noticed anything odd.
I'm using Chrome browser to play web-videos and the Google Home app to mirror the screen.
Haven't used the built-in cast/mirror feature, but that has never worked reliably for me on any device
Thanks all, i wonder what is happening here. Even the Google home app isn't working. It's like an authentication error in the app. Chromecast doesn't connect to either of my chromecast devices. Works fine on my old phone still. I wonder if it's my firmware. I am on .102 which i know is really old. Waiting for Three/Huawei to update...

Chromecast mostly works for me. The only thing that doesn't is volume controls from screen off. Apart from that, and the few normal Chromecast glitches, it works well.
I'm casting NFL Gamepass from my P20 Pro to my Nvidia Shield as I type this, it's worked flawlessly whenever I've tried since I got my phone (mine is also dual SIM from Three).
This works very sporadically for me, often from apps that cast (excluding Netflix and YouTube which have a different mechanism for Chromecast discovery) it's as if the refresh devices button doesn't really trigger a proper refresh.
The Google home app often doesn't show my Chromecasts but if I keep it open and wait maybe 5 minutes they'll eventually show.
Anyone seen anything like this?
I had problem with NBA game time app, it didn't display the cast icon after update of the device to .107 but iwas probably due to the implementation of an old. Chromecast API from NBA app itself. After NBA has updated the app is working perfectly
I streamed YouTube to a chromecast this evening without any problem, worked like expected...
No issues here, sounds more like a network issue to me.

Have you guys tried it with apps other than youtube or netflix?
Those work fine for me but they use a different discovery method, see here;
actually... I can't post links but googling "netflix different chromecast discovery" and going to the google developers discovery troubleshooting confirms this.
Network is also ruled out for me as it's still working flawlessly on my old phone and my wife's phone.
I cast all the time from Plex so it's super annoying not being able to find the chromecasts for 10 minutes and the closing apps/G Home, rebooting etc trying to trigger a discovery.
Cheers,
Jon
Oh a further update to my theory of "the refresh/scan isn't working as it should"
I have a CC that turns off when the TV is turned off and this sometimes appears in the list of devices for hours after it's been turned off, like overnight.
I've tried a factory reset but it didn't help, it's across multiple apps so maybe something to do with discovery in the android discovery software itself?
I wish all the apps just used their own discovery like YT/NF.... grumble, grumble...
Further update...
I'm 90% sure this is due to some overly aggressive power saving. I've also noticed the BBC news widget doesn't update as much as it should.
Today I tested resetting a Chromecast and attaching it as a new one. Didn't work. Needed to use another device to get it set up with Google home. Not ideal. Be interesting to see if anyone else can attach a new Chromecast after factory resetting one if anyone fancies some troubleshooting for me?
Go on, be a pal.
Cheers,
Jon
Works flawlessly in streaming from playmovies to casting the screen
I stream from plex or YouTube to a chromecast without problem
Damn... Maybe it's just some devices or a firmware issue then.
I'm on 8.1.0.103, have you a later one? Might be stuck waiting for an update

I'm on .107 firmware, I never tried older ones.
Im also experiencing some problems with chromecast. Basically, some apps, like spotify, sometimes does not show my chromecasts under devices available.
After some tests, I think it is something related to the wifi strength and wifi+. If I disable the sim data, magically all the chromecasts around my house are correctly detected.
