Hi.
Does anyone know is to possible to set camera in manual mode by default when launching via camera button or lock screen shortcut ?
It's launching as I want only when I tap the camera app from the drawer. When launching from lock screen or dedicated button it always start in this crappy auto mode.

I think such a thing (if possible) can only be done with root.
It's also annoying me, but it's been like that on all previous phones.

well, I just got mine and on one of the home screens I have a whole row just for the camera. There I can pus a little "settings" button in the far right corner and I can select which camera shortcuts to have there, one of them is "manual". Have you seen that?

He means when using the camera button.
It always starts with superior auto. When starting the camera through the app, it does remember your settings.
So I have to wait for some nice custom rom fixing this issue

On the Z1C, this couldn't be changed with root as well, so I guess we'll have to live with that. Maybe Android L fixes this.
Any news on this having root already on our devices?

An update recently came out, called Lollipop, and I guess it fixed that issue as seen on the preview.

This issue has not been fixed. I'm also still looking for a way to disable superior auto mode and always start the camera in manual mode when pressing the hardware camera button.
Hello there, I tried it with the xposed module xposed additions pro, but even after several tries I had no luck. I'm rooted on stock 5.1 and I'm sure there is a way to change the behavoir of the long press action of the camera key but I didn't find it yet as I'm very new to this phone. Let's share experiences!
cheers!

Hi, I just discovered a simple trick to open the camera without the loading screen (the black screen with a circle and a camera in). It is as simple as this:
(LauncherPRO or any launcher/app that allows to make a shortcut of an activity):
Add>Shortcut>Activity
Scroll down to Camera and expand it. You will see 3 activities. First one will be com.android.lgecamera.LoadingCamera, and the second o.e is com.android.lgecamera.ArcCamera. Select this second one. It will always skip the loading screen and show the Camera directly
Amazing, I cannot believe they make the loading screen on purpose...

no they did not delayed it at all,
ive tried your method and it loads almost exactly the same time as the normal camera shortcut. (at most 10% faster)
the only difference is that they dont show you the loading screen, which makes the phone look laggy and may confuse users into thinking that they did not press on the camera app properly
To open the camera with phone showing the lockscreen ( dont unlock )
G button + Shake it

Which ROM are you using? Stock or NOVA?
For me, first start/after killing process:
Normal camera shortcut: Loading screen for 2 seconds, then camera opens
With direct shortcut activity: Directly opens camera, no delay at all.
Once camera has been opened, I press Home button (so stays in background, not pressing Back twice):
Normal shortcut: Loading screen for 2 seconds, then camera opens
With direct shortcut activity: Directly opens camera, no delay at all.
So there is absolutely a difference, and it's not only at first start. I made many tests before posting. There is a loading screen on purpose that, at least in my case, is useless at all. If it doesn't work for you, I'm sorry, but it doesn't mean it is not true at all.

That's a different thing, what I posted is to launch the camera from homescreen without the loading screen, not to launch it without unlocking. In addition, G button to launch camera doesn't work with WidgetLocker.
Omg! Works perfectly ahah
Definitely quicker!
work well for me, simple but usefull, load faster.

For me the G-Button works fine to launch Camera, even with Widgetlocker v.1.2.2.1

With LG Stock Firmware and G-button enabled as launch camera in lockscreen? (This one is hard to believe for me, since LG option is to launch it from its lockscreen, and really doubt it would work with third-party lockscreen. Besides, I tested it when I wrote it).
Or CM7/Nova/whichever firmware and G-button (key 95) set to as Camera button?
As the title says, is there a way to change the app that's launched? I use the pro version of camera fx and it makes a huge difference for automatic pictures! It would be awesome to launch it with the camera button rather than a app icon on the home screen! Thanks in advance guys

Of course.
Just go to settings/app and find camera app (it's under "all" tab) and disable it.
Now press camera button and your app should start.
Many camera apps have option to set it as a default camera, are you sure there's not option there.
This advice should work - it worked on Xperia S and "better camera".

Thanks funky0308 works perfectly mate! I'm always hesitant disabling system apps

Can you be more specific about the difference bit ?
I've heard nexus 4 people say it helped with blur free shots as it reads the accelerometer and waits to get a steady shot.
Anything else ?
hm somehow that's not working for me. if i set camerafx to default i get no popup where im asked if i want to use it as default after i hit the camera button. its working when i disable the stock camera app - but only when my screen is on.
when the screen is off and i press the camera button i just get to see the homescreen but camera is not launching - i have to press the button again then.
any suggestions?
Not working for me either.. Still uses sony camera

I'm in the same boat as you mate, tbh i don't mind though just have to press it twice. Still allot easier than opening an app?

It just takes way longer that way. If you want to make a quick snapshot you're gonna lose the Moment.

Yeah it has a really good stable shot mode that waits for the best time to take the photo, but tbh the automatic mode is set to 20mp by default and just takes better shots with way less noise!
What app are you guys exactly talking about? Pro Camera FX? Camera Zoom FX?

so did anyone manage to launch another cam than stock by pressing the camera button "once"?
this is really bugging me, i tried everything. installed default app manager, set cam fx default and disabled stock cam. still if the screen is off i have to press the button twice. (first press gets me to homescreen and i need to press it a 2nd time to launch cam fx).
Please Help
Ok, i have had a problem. The dedicated camera button is to sensitive on my Xperia Z1 so it just launches the camera by itself, and in my pocket, which is very annoying. I have tryed to disable the camera and then it don't launch the camera, but it unlocks the screen and vibrates. And if i am in snapchat or any other camera app it just randomly takes a photo because of the button. So is there any way to disable the button completely? i have a rooted Xperia and my bootloader unlocked. Please help me!
Hey guys,
I've been trying to set my volume buttons so that the top button focuses then captures, and my bottom button records. After setting those options in the Sense 6 Toolbox, I rebooted my phone. The changes stayed, but when I'm in camera both buttons just capture.
Any suggestions to remedy this problem?

I am running on ARDH 70 with Sense 6 and Toolbox, but i can not find where to set up the volume buttons for the camera? May be i can check wether it is a general problem.
Edit:
Okay, I found it. I have the same weird issue, doesn´t seem to have any effect. Both shutters just capture.

I'm running the same Rom. There are settings within the camera app that let you choose what the volume buttons do, but the only problem is that:
a) Both buttons do the same function, and
b) The Sense 6 Toolbox doesn't override those features.
So I don't know how to remedy this.
Hi,
Does anyone know if there is compatibility for the old camera app on the new One Ui? Or is it possible to port it now or in the future?
Two things make the camera a downgrade when switching to the new One UI, for me at least:
- You had a separate button for video and picture, so you were one touch away from taking either a video or a picture. I had a really nice setup where I could take a video with the volume buttons and open camera and take picture with 1 click of the Bigsby button. This proved really useful when i went horse back riding for the first time, or with gloves on when the screen is not responsive.
- More importantly: You had a dual shot mode where you could take pictures/video with both cameras at the same time. This was really useful when trying to fit more people in a picture, or even for me to be in there, and have a nice memory stored.
They also locked the Bigsby button so you can no longer disable it... again...
Search for the app on apkmirror and try installing it.

I agree with you. I would also like the previous functionality of having both the camera and video buttons on the same screen again.
As far as the Bixby button goes, you can use BxActions to disable and remap the button. It works pretty well.

I do use BxActions, but how do you prevent Bigsby from appearing when you press it? You used to have to disable it from the Bigsby app, and yo no longer have that option.

I disabled my single press function. I only have a long-press function for my flashlight. Bixby doesn't show up for me when I single-, double-, or long-press the button. Occasionally it'll show the icon at the top and it did open Bixby once, but I couldn't figure out under which circumstance that was and I couldn't replicate it again since. Bottom line, Bixby doesn't show up for me when I press the button.
Hi all,
What is the fastest way to start up the camera when the screen is on?
Is there a secret button combination?
You can set camera in side panel shortcuts

I have that already, but it's often a miss as I perform a back gesture instead.
Too bad it isn't possible to program the power button to start an app with a quick double press.

If you turn the screen off then quickly draw a 0 or a zero it will go straight to camera. Quicker than side loading. You might need to set it up in gestures.
Also if you draw a V you can access the flashlight
have you tried taptap on github, simply double tap back of your phone to launch camera while screen on/off or other apps/shortcuts/utilities
Tried it a while ago and more often than not failed. I'll try it again though, thx
