Hi,
i am stuck in a bootloop.
i have an unlocked bootloader and had CM10.1 previously.
i then went back to an old 20a backup i made some month ago.
that worked fine.
my phone downloaded an update to 20b then, and i installed it.
after that i am stuck in a bootloop now. normal booting gives me cwm.
i am not able to turn the phone off and charge it, as mentioned somewhere else, to clear the "boot to recovery" flag.
someone knows a way to clear this flag?
Its not important for me if i run stock or CM, but even when i install my CM backup now it still boots into recovery.
holding <down> while rebooting gives me "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading".
it seems the 20b update is still present and trying to boot into stock recovery, resulting in cwm getting loaded everytime.
(cwm works fine, i can upload a zip and execute it)
greetings

i had the same, if you want to install ota updates you should have the "original" recovery.
i flashed it back to stock with LG .kdz flasher. if i remember correct flashing a backup from sd card won't slove this problem.

hm, i remember having the same problem while installing CM. there was something i did to interrupt the loop, and yes, i think the original LG suite or kdz was involved. but i should not need to reflash the original rom.. its just a flag, i should be able to clear it with sideload/zip/button combination.
[edit] maybe i wasnt clear about that: i dont need the 20b upgrade, i would love to cancel the update process, if that makes my phone boot again.

sorry but i can't help you with the flag... i solved it by reflashing but i have to admit it's quite drastic.
well..
i will reflash stock i guess.
do you remember which thread/tool/drivers you used to reflash?
i am on win7 and my PC isnt able to load fastboot nor LG mobile usb drivers.
i have them installed but get the yellow warning on both in windows hardware administration page

Easiest way to reflash stock is to force an update using the LGMobile Support Tool. Once your phone is connected (I suggest the S/W Update mode) look for the option somewhere in the upper right menu.
Edit: This will also revert to the stock recovery.

if i recall correctly, the LGMobile Support Tool tool wont recognize my phone, since i have a custom kernel, unlocked bootloader and a custom ROM.
i am trying to flash stock ROM now with kdz updater ( http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2069723 ), and if this does not work i am going through every method thats there..
total overkill for a working phone thats just too stupid to boot the right option..
@moneyvirus: thx

Not sure about this, but the S/W mode might make a difference here. No harm in trying, right?
well. i was able to install stock 20a with kdz updater and link above.
cwm is gone now ofc, but everything at least works.
in some hours i will be rooted and cwm'ed again, but well... its always the same lesson: never touch a running system.
but maybe here's the wrong place to insist on this wisdom
So I just recently decided to flash the unbloated OTA offered in the download section. I was on the 12 radio before running a regular ROM with ROM Manager and everything working perfectly. I flashed everything and all went smoothly. I flashed the OTA and the other required .zip. I then tried to root with IOroot25. Well my phone is detected, but when it goes to reboot into recovery, it never really does. So I tried to adb reboot recovery and the same thing happened - not going into recovery, just kinda' sitting at a very dark, though barely lit, screen.
Everything functions fine but it appears I do not have any sort of recovery at all. How would I go about fixing this? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
What debloated ROM did you flash?

It got removed, you need to downgrade the aboot to install a recovery once you upgrade the firmware to 24A. 24A plugs the exploit that was being used. Easiest route is to use the AutoRec app in the LG G2 Development section.

How can I use this program if I can't attain root? It says it requires root, which IOroot25 cannot do due to not having a recovery to boot into to apply the .zip.
I'm going to try the KDZ method here to flash the factory version in its full glory. Hopefully that will restore recovery mode and allow me to root the thing. I'll report back with my findings, and whether or not I was able to do this using the above link, IOroot, and AutoRec.
I am having the same issue. I was running CM11 on a verizon lg g2 with CWM recovery. I flashed prerooted 4.4.2 from MicroMod777 along with the KK baseband. It worked, but I lost root AND recovery. Now when I tried to use ioroot 25, my phone won't boot into recovery at all. It appears that I lost recovery. Is there a simple way to install recovery back?

Running TWRP and am happy with that but would prefer CWM touch recovery. Have tried several methods to install from various XDA treads with no luck. Any info you know of on that?
CWM installed fine for me using their purchased app and just flashing the touch version after selecting my device model.
I have also installed it using .img files provided in the forums and using Flashify to flash them.

I was able to use .img files in the forums with 11a...I never took 12b...just stayed on 11a and ignored the update.
I returned to stock to get to 24a and was able to root but can't for the life of me get CWM recovery installed. I have tried flashify, installing zips, pushing .img with adb...no dice. I get error messages every time or the black screen you described in this thread's original post.
Just tried to load the zip from TWRP...no dice.
I purchased touch through the paid version of CWM and chose my device...nada...it's killing me!
I can live with TWRP but love CWM touch. Really at a loss.
Are you running 24a? If so, can you point me toward the forum link you used to get CWM loaded?

With 24a I pushed it with adb instead of flashing it via Flashify and it worked decently for me. Personally, though, I do like TWRP more, albeit it doesn't have that convenient application like CWM does.

So you took the OTA and you're on 24A now? If thats the case you need to push the 12B aboot first before you can flash recovery. AutoRec will do all that. And flash recovery for you. After its finished you can flash CWM touch if you want.

Have you ever seen this? https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.jmz.soft.twrpmanager It flashes recovery for you, you can manage backups, with a donation you can even make live backups while still booted in Android. I haven't tried it yet because I keep forgetting. Sounds so cool though.

Did not work
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2451696 or http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2449670 did not work becouse i cant get into twrp or adb mode. When i power on my g2 it says ''Secure booting Error! '' and goes to a black screen, it mostly useless:crying:
What about fastboot? What we're you doing before you bricked? Did you do a three button salute to drain all of the battery out?
edit: It has a heartbeat (its turns on) so its not hopeless yet.
I dont know about fastboot mode but when i plug my phone into my laptop after the screen goes black it comes up with 15 drives or partitions. I just tried this fix http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142 but i did not work.
I was trying to flash CM Mod 11 Nightly in Twrp But ''error executing updater binary'' error came up in the 3 roms i flashed before Cm Mod. Then i restarted my phone and it wouldn't let me go into download mode or twrp, it just said boot certification verify failed. The error in twrp looked like the 2nd photo.
We'll if you can get into twrp then download a stock and flash stock firmware (the base). No backup? There is a stock all thread and I promise you this is fixable.
Edit: what base are you on? Like 12b or 24A

Maybe you should tell us what it is you did to fix your phone for the benefit of those that might fall into the same/similar situation. Doesn't have to be step by step, but a quick little summary might be nice.

I just followed the thread here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2582142 very carefully and used a vm for Ubuntu and it worked after the 3rd time.
Your IMG file?
I have been trying for hours and can't get it work. What is IMG file that you used to get it to work for the "[FIX] NO Recovery mode, No download mode, after OTA on rooted LG G2"?
I tried using "xdabbeb_vs98039a_bootstack.zip" and "xdabbeb_vs98012b_bootstack" by extracting it out to get the:
1- sbl1.img
2- aboot.img
3- rpm.img
4- tz.img
5- recovery.img
Thanks!
I am a noob when it comes to android rooting and stuff. My phone is a TMO LG G4.
I rooted my g4 yesterday and it went perfectly. Then I tried to install TWRP. When I flashed TWRP via flashify, it got stuck in a twrp bootloop. I downloaded the LG G4 H811 DEBLOATED ROM from XDA and transfered it to my phone with a cable. Then I tried to flash the .zip file and it gave me an error. I wiped the cache and stuff and tried again. same results. I extracted the .zip file and tried to flash the boot.img file (it was only 32mb). While flashing the boot.img file, it gave me 2 choices and I chose the option to use the rooted partition. Then I rebooted. It said there was no os Installed on the reboot screen.
Now when I turn on my phone, and it is stuck at the LG Logo. I tried hard factory reset and pulling out the battery. It doesn't work. I can't even get into the twrp screen anymore. What should I do? It is emergency.
BTW, this is called bricking, right?
You said you wiped cache and stuff. What is stuff. Did you wipe the data and system?
This worked for me when I foobar'd the build.prop, but might not you. Try the rooting process again.

First things first. Can you get your phone to download mode. With phone off, hold vol up and plug in usb cable to force download mode. IF that works, go here http://downloads.codefi.re/autoprime/LG/LG_G4/H811/H81110H and grab the kdz and flash it to bring your phone back to stock unrooted to fix phone. Then go from there.
Most important, make sure you READ and UNDERSTAND everything before doing ANYTHING. Good luck you got this!!!

I was in the process of downgrading my phone from 5.1.1 to 4.4.2.
I started here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/att...to-root-g870aucu1aoa1-4-4-4-2-7-2015-t3025119
I accidentally flashed the second Kernel first and the then my phone wouldn't boot, just boot-looped to to the recovery, I tried to do a factory reset/wiped, but still had same issue, then I factory reset/wiped and then cleared the cache. Same issue. I have tried updating to stock 5.1.1 roms, 4.4.2 roms, stock rooted roms, I have tried to just about everything I can find online. I either get failures ranging from the following:
I'm trying to get my phone working again by flashing the stock firmware with odin3 (tried 3.9 and 3.10) but it fails every time and gives me the error "SW REV CHECK FAIL : [aboot]Fused 2 > Binary 1" while in download mode..

http://forum.xda-developers.com/galaxy-s5/help/sm-g870a-samsung-s5-active-softbricked-t3161137
I have also tried this: http://www.droidviews.com/fix-status-7-error-while-installing-ota-update-or-roms/
since I was getting a status 7 error, but then I got another error after that (error is sideload package)
I can get to Custom OS download function and I can get to the boot recovery.
I honestly don't care if this phone is rooted or not, stock rom or not, but I need to get it back up and running, please help, Samsungs are new to me.
***UPDATE***
I just wanted to let everyone know that after about 30 different files, some through Odin, some through Recovery I finally got one to install and fix my AOS. The file that finally didn't fail to load in Recovery was Here: www androidfilehost com / ?w=search&s=g870a <--Add in the dots and remove the spaces, and make it a secure website.
It was more specifically G870A_OF3_tJ3_OTA.zip, it did fail something at the end of the recovery but it stayed on the screen for less than a second so I didn't see what failed but my phone is working now.
Hopefully one of those files will help someone else out.

Im in the same boat. Trying the files from OP first. Hopefully one works. I presume we need to move the OP zip file to the sd card on the phone, and update from recovery mode on the phone?
I just got a SM-G870A from a buddy of mine, he says he made the same mistake as the OP. Tried going from PB3 to NE4. He says he tried Odin flashing system images, kernels, and bootloader.
The system recovery says OC5.
Do I need to walk my flashes up OC5-OF2 - OF2-OF3 - OF3-OJ3 to fix this soft brick??
Thank you Chosenbc!!!!!!!!!!!! after several days (more than 5 weeks) I could unbrick my SM-G870A and this was possible all because of you and who uploaded the working Rom. Thank you, thank you thank you! for making this post!
