Hi,
I am looking to forensically acquire a Kindle Fire 7" HD, but I am having difficulties.
My issue is that I need the Kindle Fire to show up as a full drive with file system access (i.e. C: D rather than a portable device. This will allow me to use the forensic software to acquire the Kindle.
I have a Kindle Fire HD Model No. P48WVB4 running version 11.3.2.6_user_326002520 of the Kindle software.
Any help would be much appreciated.
Thanks.

I am trying to Root my Kindle Fire HD 8.9 according to the post by mdblaze '[ROOT]Kindle Fire HD 8.9'. I followed carefully to the post of Bin4ry (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1886460) except that I replace the adb.exe in the stuff folder with the adb.exe from 'adt-bundle-windows\sdk\platform-tools\' otherwise the device cannot be detected when I ran '\stuff\adb devices'. All the processes were passed and I was able to see SuperSU. I then tried to get ES file explorer from Amazon store, but after clicking on 'get app', an error occurred. The error pop out actually for any applications in the Amazon store. Other function of my kindle seemed to be fine. I have no clues whether I did something wrong or how to fix this situation. Could anyone kindly give me some hint?
Deregister from Amazon and resign in, that has been fixing a few issues people had.

DemoD6,
If you would like to restore you Kindle to absolute original condition, then follow these steps:
Step 1: Use Kindle Fire First Aide to Boot into Fastboot (Option 15).
Step 2: Use Kindle Fire First Aide to Flash New Software, if you have a Kindle Fire HD 7" you would use Option 3, for a Kindle Fire 2 you would use Option 1 and finally if you are using a Kindle Fire HD 8.9" use Option 6.
Step 3: Leave the Kindle ON and plugged into USB, then use Option 22 (Option specifically designed for sending the Kindle back to Amazon).
Step 4: Hold the Power button down for a full 60 seconds, the Kindle is now Factory Original. When Amazon powers up the Kindle it will be just like the first time YOU booted the Kindle, the setup wizard starts to run.
Please download the latest version of our software and go to our thread if you have any questions. We usually respond in 24 hours or less.
Setup instruction can be found here:
This is Software Version 4.1.43-Beta The RunMe is Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15: Kindle Fire HD and 2 First Aide Software - Noob (Simple) Version

Microsoft Windows Kindle Fire First Aide 32-bit Version 4.1.43-Beta: KFFirstAide32.zip
Microsoft Windows Kindle Fire First Aide 64-bit Version 4.1.43-Beta: KFFirstAide64.zip
Please unzip the above packages to C:\KFFirstAide make sure the RunMe.bat is Dated 02/19/2013 at 22:15. Before running the software, make sure you do not have another folder inside C:\KFFirstAide named KFFirstAide32, KFFirstAide64 or KFFirstAide. After you Unzip the software you should only have one folder named C:\KFFirstAide, this is critical to proper operation.
Make sure you have a Environment Variable in the Microsoft Windows PATH Statement of C:\KFFirstAide otherwise you will see many 'unable to find ???package???.apk' messages.
Finally, make sure you are running the latests version of Java SE Development Kit 7u13
just got the Kindle Fire HD 7" the other day and have it rooted...ADB drivers seem to be working fine...but the Kindle doesn't show up in Windows Explorer, so i can't transfer anything to it
i've tried uninstalling and reinstalling the drivers countless times, but the Kindle still never shows up in Explorer
really would appreciate some advice
i turned off ADB on the Kindle, and plugged it into another Win7 PC that never had the Kindle connected to it before...Kindle driver got automatically installed, and the Kindle was showing up and was accessible from Win Explorer...what can be missing on the computer that doesn't identify the Kindle in Win Explorer ?!?!?
My son just got a kindle fire for his birthday from his cousin, and they loaded a few games on it. One game is thomas and friends game, and i have the .odb files i want to put on the fire but running into a few problems.
I got the USB debugging on the fire to turn on.
I got the android sdks installed.
The fire is seen as a ADB device in device manager.
And ADB can see the fire through the command prompt.
The problem is when i go to open the fire on the my computer, it list nothing in the fire.
Now i dont have root installed or anything, if it requires me to root the fire i can do that but im not sure which version i have.
If i go into device options all it lists is Device Model Fire 7 (7th Generation) first 4 of serial is G0W0
