Z1 Unknown IMEI, Baseband, IP, and MAC [SOLVED] - Xperia Z1 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I understand there is already a post regarding another user who has had this problem. However, I believe that my circumstances differ.
I am currently running iHacker's 4.1 rom. My device is a c9603, and has an unlocked bootloader. (I'm not sure if the other user was locked or unlocked)
From the roms that I have tested, I am only able to successfully use wifi and see my baseband, etc., using PAC or a restoration of a backup made of my current rom. All I am trying to do is update from .757 to .108.
Would it be worth it to make a backup of everything, relock the bootloader, revert it completely back to stock, unrooting it, and then either root it again and try to update, or use sony's PC companion or my phone's update center to update my firmware and then root it on .108?
Thanks in advance. This has just been a persistent problem and I'm really getting tired of it.
***UPDATE***
Somewhere in all my rom flashing endeavors, I must have accidently picked up a c6903 version of a ROM or ftf. It changed the model number (according to the status in the service menu) to an 03. Something told me to pop the sim tray, and behold: Model number c6902. Flashed the correct version, and my wifi is up and running again!

Try to go back to initial firmware and then to .108

Nothing seems to be working. No matter what I flash, I loose my baseband, imei, mac, ip... The only two roms that have worked are my current one and PAC.
What the hell is going on?

Try to flash full .534 FTF
It will bring back your IMEI and baseband. I have that before (lost IMEI) then flash .534, install recovery then flash straight to .108

Alright. I have class right now, but I'll give it a try when I get home.

So... Apparently flashing anything below .757 causes my phone to bootloop... Help?

Flash everything on .534 FTF (baseband, kernel, system, ta, all of them) and all wipe to....
Use latest FlashTool (.18)

I'm still getting a bootloop. I get past the Sony and Xperia screen and then it gets stuck mid-loop of little animation they included. Could it be a broken ftf? Or just an error when I downloaded it? Because more than one of the ftf files do this.

Reflash FTF again then wait for 30mins (phone is plug into charger too)....

Sorry for all the trouble, but I will try again as soon as I get home. It's about time this damn problem gets solved.

Nope, same exact thing happened. Except this time, I only got to the "Xperia" portion of the boot logo before it decided to do another boot-loop. I waited for 30 minutes, and had it plugged in, but still nothing...

This time throw it at Sony centre to fix it....We have no idea.....

[Q] Sony Xperia Z bricked after custom 4.3 Rom

Hi All,
Hoping for some advise and hopefully a fix. Been scouring these forums for 4 hours and cannot find a problem the same as mine or one that seems like it would fix.
I've always stuck to nexus phones in the past so the xperia z is new to me. picked it up this weekend but i've already had enough of sony's custom skin so thought i'd get a custom rom.
I updated to the latest software version using the pc suite and then used the xperia z root tool (v16).
After this i downloaded root checker and verified i was rooted
i then downloaded cwm recovery and installed
i then downloaded the 4.3 google edition rom for the xperia z, put it on the sd card and went into recovery, selected it from sd card. said it all installed ok so selected reboot...
after this it didnt come back on and just vibrates once when you press the power button. tried the hard reset thing where it vibrates 3 times but after this it does nothing.
it isnt recognised when plugged in to pc and the only sign of life that i can see is the light flashing red when plugged in as if charging.
Any ideas? never had something not switch on at all before.
Is your bootloader even unlocked?
4.3 roms and all other roms with non stock kernels cannot be flashed on a locked device.

Easy. Just repair with SUS
or
Download flashtool, and download the corresponding firmware you need (should be .ftf format) (i.e. if your a UK generic user download UK generic ROM) and flash the firmware.
fixed
Thanks guys. Flashtool got me back up and running.
Now, just because I'm obviously a complete tool does anyone know off the top of their head if it is actually possible to put the Google edition 4.3 on here after all of that or should I quit while I'm ahead???

Then finally follow instrustions from here and flash this rom : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2389823
It is an advanced build of 4.3 based on CM 10.2.
Remember to fastboot flash boot.img of kernel before flashing it form recovery.
If all that seems too complicated then i advice you don't attempt it right away, read around the XDA forum and familiarise yourself before attempting to brick your phone :silly:
Dude does your bootloader unlocked? If not maybe it cause u a soft brick. Try to flash the original ftf for xperia z use the latest flash tool then reflash it. Hope it helps you. Btw welcome to the SONY world ;p

[Q] Phone bricked? Process inside.

Ok so I decided after using this thing stock for ages I was going to try CM11. Spent all day reading and trying to figure this out.
Used Krabappel guide to downgrade to .534 via flashtools. SUCCESSFUL.
Unlocked Bootloader via Sony official. SUCCESSFUL.
Backed up TA via guide. SUCCESSFUL.
Rooted via Root_with_Restore_by_Bin4ry_v33. SUCCESSFUL.
Then moved onto trying to find/install a recovery so I could flash the CM11 rom. Now where things seem to have gone awry...
Flashed advanced stock kernel v4 by krabappel2548 in accordance to this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2439298
Via this command: fastboot flash boot adv-stock-v4.img
Claimed it ran through successfully. Tried to adb reboot recovery, no devices found.
Now device will not turn on. Holding down the power button resulted in a single buzz, no screen activity. Volume up+power gave the three vibrations for reset, no screen activity. Currently red blinking light when plugged in via usb.
Not sure where to go from here. Currently sitting and charging while blinking away.
Thanks for looking. This was so much easier on nexus devices lol!
Hello friend, i suppose you should try booting into fastboot mode via holding volume UP and connecting USB, see if flashtool recognizes it.
If it does, then we need to find you a pure stock kernel to install and later a recovery.
Also, what android firmware you had before flashing kernel?

Beautiful, flashtools does recognize it: blue LED and "device connected in fastboot mode"
I believe I was on 14.1.G.1.534 since I needed to downgrade to that in the first step, and I don't think any steps I took afterwards changed it AFAIK.

If you felt a vibration you are not bricked thankfully. Try flashing another ftf in flash tool and start over.
edit: oops you beat me to posting before I hit post.
Looking at my steps taken, did I mess something up? I'm not sure what I did wrong and would like to not repeat this mistake.
I found out what you did wrong.
You needed to have 14.2.A.1.136 fw to install the kernel. Read carefully what it says here.

If you messed up with the kernel, you might have to install a new one.
But firstly try what angryGTS said before me. Reflash .534 and see what happens, then i will happily help you get to a solid firmware and install CM11
Also, you backed up TA after unlcoking BL or before, and how you backed it up (recovery or other tool? )? (It's important that you have backed up BEFORE unlocking BL :/ )

That's just great news.
Your camera should not be working since you have unlocked BL and firmware version .534 . Root it using Kingo Root or such one click root programs.
And then install recovery from here .
-Use this to go to rooted 4.3 . thanks to NUT (at this point your camera should start working again)
-Use this to go to rooted 4.4 version .681 , thank NUT again (you can stay here if you want Z2 camera mods and DoomKernel and other stuff availiable to fw up to .681 )
And optional go to latest .757 KitKat using this thank NUT again , but you won't be able to do much here.
Also when you are at .681 , you might want to flash to CM11 there , check here and thank FXP team.
Have fun. And remember to read instructions carefully .

This is quite strange
1) Locked or unlocked bootloader?
2) Have you ever flashed a custom kernel?
3) Have you ever flashed a custom rom?
4) What's your original firmware customization number? EDIT: I've just seen that's 1266-6442... is this your ORIGINAL firmware? Where do you live? In Germany?
5) Rooted? CWM?

Ok, yes, I know how it works...
I just asked about the bootloader status, because sometimes some people mess with bootloader, kernel, flash from recovery, flash with Flashtool... and so on... WITHOUT the understanding of what they're doing... and come here complaining... do you know what I mean?
OK, now, I know how to help you.
1)
There's a method to download and install the original firmware directly from Sony.
But you need to be rooted. So, are you rooted?
2)
Your customization number is wrong.
1266-6442 doesn't exist.
That's maybe the number of your model, but it's not related with the firmware.
The right number for Telekom Germany is 1265-9144
The customization number is inside your software and can be found pressing *#*#7378423#*#*, inside Service info --> Sofware info --> Customization Version.
Give me that number please, so I can understand what's the software working now on you device.
3)
You said "I didnt backup before flashing, and now have false firmware, no sim signal, no wifi, battery heats as hell, and so on and so on.."
Ok, please, explain better what you did.
Have you flashed what kind of rom? Via recovery?

And then, the 4.3 is just S**t, as i sad it, just problems, and i just want the previous version, because it worked perfect.
so i just was flashing all the other firmwares, especially the 4.3, from all the other regions, i thought maybe they will work better, but nope.

Ok, now I've understood what's your situation.
It seems that when you flashed 4.1.2 firmwares, the process was not compete for some reason.
The list from which you get that number, is about all kind of xperia T... and is different from the firmware list.
The problem is that you lost your previous original number, maybe it was 1265-9144... and you can resume it only with root and a little bit of experience... and actually I'm not sure you would be able to handle this kind of hacking stuff.
Anyway I'm quite sure that 4.1.2 from CE is perfect for your needs.
Try this one with Flashtool: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42393403&postcount=29
This firmware is perfect for any european country: I tested many times and is one of the best.
But before flashing, recharge your battery to the maximum. And be sure that the flashing process is complete and without errors.
Just try and let me know...

I think i must do that root and so on :/

This kind of issue is called "bootloop".
When it happens, try to push "power button" + "volume up" together.
The phone will turn off.
Turn on again and if there's bootloop again, repeat the procedure on and on and on.
Try many times...

I can't answer to the first question.
You are the first with this weird problem and I'm beginning to think that something is broken inside your phone.
Bootloops are usual when something is wrong with kernel or system, but if you say that flashing went good and this appears only with 4.1.2 , I really don't know why.
You are not rooted because you've never done before and anyway every time you format the system (flashing with Flashtool or via recovery) you lose root.
So you are not rooted for sure.
The problem now is becoming bigger, because there's no way to root a 4.3 firmware directly.
But... guess what? You have to root 4.1.2 before and then install a 4.3 already rooted. :crying:
The only way for you to root 4.3 directly is to unlock your bootloader, but this means that you lose warranty and DRM keys (that are needed to let work some functions like Bravia Engine).
Actually you could save your warranty and DRM keys with a special backup (called TA backup), but.... guess what? You need to be rooted!!!! :crying:
The second way is to try to install 4.0.4 ice cream and root it. It could work.
I give you this link https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B55PDGQqCzReV2dFSjFSNnlLLVk/preview?pli=1
It's 4.0.4 italian version...
Try this... and if it doesn't work, the only way is to unlock your bootloader losing warranty and drm keys, sorry...

LOL :cyclops: as you wish...
1) Flash 4.3 with Flashtool
2) Unlock your bootloader on Sony official site following all the instructions: http://unlockbootloader.sonymobile.com/instructions
3) Once it's unlocked, open Flashtool and re-flash 4.1.2 CE that I gave you and you tried before: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=42393403&postcount=29
4) Don't turn on. Download Doomkernel here: http://d-h.st/4kK
Unpack the .elf file inside the zip
5) Open Flashtool. Connect the phone to PC keeping pushed the volume-up button. Now the phone is in fastboot mode. Click on the lightning symbol, select fastbootmode, select kernel to flash, select the .elf file extracted before, done.
6) Unplug the phone. Turn on and you will see the doomkernel logo... and now I hope that you finally enter into 4.1.2 firmware without bootloop.
7) To root: you need to copy this file http://download.chainfire.eu/396/SuperSU/UPDATE-SuperSU-v1.94.zip to the internal memory.
Turn off. Turn on pushing volume-down repeatedly, now you enter into recovery, now install the supersu zip and reboot.

DAAAAAMN ! -.- :/ DommKernel logo is there, xperia logo, animation, and blocks again, restarts all the time.. I'm really desperate...
Now you have 4.1.2 with the doomkernel and the root, which is the perfect combination to do anything on your device.
If it's working, you can leave the phone in this situation.
Instead if you really want to go back to the original firmware, go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2334653
Follow the part A using this custom number 1265-9144 (t-mobile Germany). Remember you need root for this process!
Relock the bootloader http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1924221
Plug to Sony PC Companion and Sony will re-install your original firmware.
My advice is to leave the phone unlocked and rooted with CE firmware

Damn.
Reflash 4.3 with Flashtool.
Download this Doomkernel: http://doomlord.xperia-files.com/download.php?dlid=VC1Eb29NS2VybmVsLXYwOQ==
Be aware: don't use the old doomkernel, but this one (v.09) that is specific for 4.3
Flash the elf file, as you did before.
Now you have doomkernel logo and you can enter into 4.3.
Now root it as I suggested in the previous posts (turn off, turn on pushing vol-down, flash suspersu zip, reboot).
Try.

C6903 - Baseband Unknown Fix

Hi Experts,
I have searched the forum and after flashing for three sleepless nights, I am still struck with the unknown baseband issue.
The details are:
C6903
BL Unlocked & now its locked using Flashtool (DRM or TA backup is unavailable )
Currently the phone is struck in boot loop in .534
Used Flashtool ver. 0.9.22.3 & 0.9.18.6
Latest EMMA & Xperia Companion
My phone hanged when listening to the music and when I force restarted the unknown baseband showed up. While flashing I got the baseband back after flashing .518 however it hanged again after two days and I lost the BB
Now I am struck in boot loops on .534 and .518 both. I can boot into .290 successfully. Can someone please guide me to the correct method of restoring my IMEI permanently.
P.S. As per my short experience with C6903, I believe something stops the boot of .534 and .518 after first boot. Means I was not able to boot into .534 but accidentally when I flashed .518, my phone booted successfully. However now I am unable to boot into .518. May be I am missing the piece of puzzle that an expert can provide.
Thanks in advance~

Thanks for your tip but I have already tried and still get struck in bootloop.
No .534 FTF has booted until now and I have used 6 of them already...
An update is that I have rooted 4.4.4 and installed recovery...
can someone tell me where can I get .534 zip to flash as the files I have are giving me verification error on TWRP.
Thanks in advance...
I have tried to use NUT fix but the files are not available for downloading.
I would really appreciate if someone can direct me to the correct path. I am almost giving up now...

Hi again, Really appreciate your help.
I have tried flashing a number of files but still in vain. What I really can't understand is .518 was the last 4.2.2 rom that booted successfully on my phone and brought my baseband back. Now .534 and .518 are both ending in a bootloop at Sony animation Really driving me crazy...
As a side note, can you tell me if the modem files in the link below are useful for this issue?

By the way I am really amazed with the Z1 ability to handle abuse that I have thrown at it during the last 2 weeks
Changing phone is not an option for me right now. Using Nokia 1100 after a long time seems very uncomfortable and can't do it for long

Experts am I asking something that is un-do-able...
Guys shall I give up fixing this phone
I loved this dead beauty...
Hi, tried to flash with different cables as I don't have Sony original cable with me but the results are still the same. No luck with .534 and baseband is still unknown...
I understand this is a free community and people are free to determine if they wanna help someone or not. However I just wanna know if this is repairable or shall I just forget about repairing it. Any inputs will be highly appreciated.

Flashtool issue

Hi guys, sorry if my english is bad.
So, got this problem: after using lineage for a while, I wanted to get back to my xperia z stock firmware, using flashtool. The only thing wrong in doing it, it's "error root: this bundle is not valid". When flashing in complete, I turn on my phone, I got the sony background, and then nothing, just the background brightness on. What can I do? I already used several versions of flashtool, and several ftf firmwares.

U can ignore that "error root: this bundle is not valid" !! It has no meaning for flashing .ftf firmware !!
But it was really important for me to use flshtool 9.18.6 (with 3 drivers; (fastboot), flash, lagan and z). And the only firmware, that works for me was Jelly Bean (4.2.2). Nothing else has helped. Before that I had the same results like u: the background brightness on after flash.
Hope it helps.

As far as I know is OTA update with unlocked bootloader not possible. So you can use Sony Flash Tool "Emma" to update with unlocked bootloader or the Flashtool from Androxyde. Alternative: lock your bootloader with Flashtool and use PC Compagnion from Sony and unlock it again after the flash, if you want. This is what I had done - so I recieved lollipop 5.1.1. (Maybe it is good to write down your unlock code and IMEI - but I think Androxyde flashtool stores it; check it!)
If you have backed up TA.img before hand, try flashing that, if backup of TA was done before BLU then you can flash TA.img and fix your phone with PC Companion in dead USB device mode
