Cast entire screen only shows mouse cursor - Google Chromecast

Hi everybody,
when I select the "cast entire screen" option in chrome, only my mouse cursor is shown on my tv. The movements of the mouse are shown and the audio also works.
So the problem is the rest of the screen is black and shows nothing...
Any ideas why this is happening?
Kind regards

For future users with the same issue:
I solved the issue by disabling my gpu for chrome. If I use the onboard intel gpu the issue does not occur anymore.

Could you tell us how to disabled the gpu on Ubuntu? I'm sure a lot of people could appreciate some more detail.

Turning OFF hardware video acceleration

Hi,
I am trying to turn the hardware acceleration OFF on the HTC Diamond phone.
We have a project to display the screen of the HTC Diamond on a big plasma screen, so people can play around on the phone and others are able to watch what he is doing on the big screen.
We are using the sotware "River Past Mobile Presenter" for that purpose, but as the HTC Diamond is using hardware acceleration for video we are not able to display these contents on the big screen.
I think video overlay by the graphics card prevents us from displaying the video contents on the screen.
Is there a way to completely turning off the hardware acceleration, or a way to do that for certain programs, as the browser?
I was browsing the registry all day for the correct keys, but wasn't able to find what I was looking for.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks a lot guys,
Robert
It works here in an instant.
But I think it has something to do with PC/Laptop.
I can see my Diamond screen, but I cannot make a screenshot! On the screenshot, it's a black screen
It's like screenshotting an videofile, I seen that before.
Can't you use mymobiler through a laptop or pc?
http://www.mymobiler.com/
the trial version has fullscreen mode and screenshot diabled
I mean print screen
mymobiler works awesommy well.
Even on 640x480

An app to control hdmi/internal displays on/off?

I was disappointed, but not surprised to see that functions for dropping internal rendering and only render to the external screen were in-built into the media-player on the lg. I mean, having an overlay where you could switch context would have been just too easy, after all.
But is there a way to turn off the internal rendering and only render to hdmi? Since android has a composite manager on it's own, it seems strange it shouldn't be just a simply command for it, that would leave the phone context inactive, and the rendering context on hdmi. In the same way the media player works.
I.e., if playing netflix, you would just pick the source for the viewport, and leave the program just serving (while the view on the phone is inactive). Same with games.
Think it's possible to do that in an overlay? Or is it necessary to do it individually for each program. Or, more likely, that it's something that has to be implemented in Android at some point..?
I wonder how do you bring that content back to o4x to control the phone

I believe you can do that thru the secret menu. Dial 3845#*880# and go to HDMI settings and choose whether you want full phone mirroring or use as an extension of your screen so you can still use your phone to do whatever.

Oh, nice. Thank you. Doesn't seem to be any options to not run a mirror (see "full mirror" and "cinema" in the modes). And the changes don't do anything and don't stick.. But I'll look around some more. ..do you need to root the phone to change the options..?
update?

i know this is an old post i am responding to, but having searched all over i cannot find any update on the possibility of gaining a full 'mirror' display on my 4x hd.
did you have any luck getting the options on the 'hidden menu' to stick? it was the first thing i tried, but as stated no options stick once selected (i assumed it was going to be simple when i saw the option for 'full mirror' on the menu).
i have tried changing the options on 'hidden menu' pre and post root, to no avail. im gutted to find that this phone dosnt support 'full mirror' on the hdmi out, usb otg :crying:
if anyone knows how to do this on my rooted 4x hd PLEASE HELP!
cheers in advance!

Chromecast tab cast resolution

Hey guys!
I've been playing around with my Chromecast after I got it today, and everything seems to be working great. Except when I cast tabs (or the whole desktop) to the Chromecast, somehow the display gets cut off by like a couple of inches on each edge. I tried with a Macbook Pro, and a Win 7 desktop (varied the resolution on the computers as well). I have a Haier L32D1120, wanted to know if anyone else is having similar issues. I tried the different options under the Chrome extension, none of them fixed it. I use a PS3/Roku/Apple TV on my TV using HDMI, and none of them have any issues like this.
Any clues?

I'd expect them to handle some overscan, but without some sort of setup util to determine (via user input) the optimal amount, you're likely to still have some. Does it provide a setup in the beginning asking you to move edges of a box or arrows until they are at the edge of the screen (overscan calibration)?

I looked at the advanced video settings on my TV, and somehow the Overscan setting is set to On, but it never lets me do anything in that option or change it. Weird. Might have to look at the manual.
Thanks though.
I think it's the TV that is doing the overscan, since it's an HDMI signal, not a Monitor input like VGA or DVI. So it's interpreting that the signal has been adjusted to be overscanned. Idunno.
Anyway, My TV (Samsung) has an option to adjust the fit of the picture
Menu > Picture > Screen Adjustment > Picture Size > Screen Fit
Now I can see the entire video and no overscanning.

Yeah. Overscan isn't accidental. The reasons may be ancient and a result of inexact control and display, but all modern "TV" displays will scale/crop some of the signal (overscanning) to deal with the format of the signals that had to be padded for displays that had no choice (CRT).
That's pretty much THE defining characteristic of a TV vs a "Display". These days, any decent digital TV can display 1:1 pixel ratio (like yours).

Tasks stops working after resolution is changed.

I have two tasks created, one increases the resolution to QHD and opens youtube, the other one reverts the resolution back to 1080p but the problem for me is that when either of the tasks have been performed, the other one stops working until i restart my phone. I use the Autoinput plugin to mimic touches since I don't know if Tasker itself has any way of changing the resolution.
More specifically the first task triggered works flawlessly but if i want to go back to 1080p or QHD Tasker doesn't give me any errors.
I can provide a video showcasing the glitch if anyone would be a kind one to help me out! Thank you for reading.

Have you looked at the run log to see if the task that reverts the resolution is actually running? Is it possible that the point your "touching" is wrong due to the change in DPI? Have you tried monitoring the touch location with the settings -> developer options -> show pointer location?
Have you checked to see if there is an intent you could use to shift the resolution? Might be more reliable than touch emulation.

Apps in portrait on Chromecast with Google TV

Hey folks
I bought a Chromecast with Google TV and I am experiencing an issue and I wonder if anyone can save me. I am trying to use an app which I know it wasn't developed for this device, but I know it works because have it installed on an Android TV. The difference is that on Google TV its opening as portrait and sits in the middle of the screen - doesn't stretch, where in the Android TV it expands and takes the whole screen. Same thing happens, for example, with Instagram. I've tried a dozen of apps that supposedly force the orientation, but none of them resolved this issue.
Is there anything that can be done or am I am chasing ghosts?
Thank you in advance
is there maybe an option in the settings of that app to set its orientation?
Unfortunately there isn't

Make the panel completely transparent in the settings, there are many different functions. Sorry, I write through a translator, I'm Russian.
@unleetz
You can try the little app attached
Works fine for me
