Dear community,
I received my new Z1 around 2 weeks ago, and i already have light scratches on my ASF.
I would like to protect my phone a bit more with a Tempered Glass screen protector.
this one: DX dual Screen protector
BUT here is my question:
should i put the new screen protector over my lightly scratched ASF ( will it mask the scratches?? )
OR
should i remove the ASF and put the new screen protector there instead.
Also i have another question, is putting oleo-phobic coating on top of the ASF a smart idea? ( will it mask the light scratches and make it more scratch resistant ) ?
Thanks for your time,
dinkelstefan

I've installed the in the box screen protector, it will do its job but its cut the same size as the shatter protector so was a nightmare to align without it going off one side but not the other. The application was the hardest of any I've ever applied as the shatter protector attracts dust like a magnet! The edges are already picking up dust so I'm on the lookout for a replacement.
I've got some Terrapin ones from Amazon...anyone tried these yet?
I've a feeling a wet apply protector would be best for this screen, as I'd expect them to be big enough to overlap the edges of the shatter protector.

I got a pack of these..
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/180983297773?ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1497.l2649
they are a like a foil and very hard to apply indeed. Ended up with a lot of bubbles but was able to get rid of most of them, only with few where the dust particles settled.
It is very clear and leaves the screen smooth to use. Also they only have the cut for the front cam and does cover the sensor areas whereas the terrapin ones seem not to cover the sensors as well. Ordered a terrapin pack too off Ebay as a comparison.
The Terrapin ones I ordered from Amazon just arrived today (I bought the 10-in-1 pack) and they seem very good so far - the screen no longer attracts dust like a moth to a flame. It was a bit difficult to apply at first (it took me 3 attempts) but I finally got it nice and smooth with only a few bubbles around the edges where I think it lost it's stickiness due to me trying to peel it off again to reapply.
At the price of 10 for £3.49 I'm quite happy with these,
I have too installed the in box screen protector (above the anti shattering film) on my T
Now i am looking for a fingerprint-proof film
Sony japan sell various films (glossy, matte, fingerprint, privacy) but unfortunately it's for their "GX" (same as TX) model
Any one heard about this brand ?
http://www.bodyguardz.com/screengua...-skins-films.html?dir=asc&order=sort_priority
I am more interrested by the figerprint-proof part and wouldnt like the screen to become fuzzy because of the Antiglare
Doesn't the phone come with a factory screen protector? Mine looks like it has one. I received a screen protector with my Incipio case, but didn't put it on since it looked like mine had one already. Didn't know if that would affect the screen sensitivity.
I think the phone come with a preinstalled anti-shattering film. (but it's a little confusing since there is no mention to that in the manual or box)
It can act as a screen protector too, but you can put another one above if you want to keep it in mint condition.
I have absolutely no sensitivity problem with the factory film + protection film

Yes, all xperia phones (Correct me if i am wrong) come with a factory fitted protector. And the first thing you should do is take it off and dont bother with them
IMO the protctors get sctatched very easilly and atract dust, whist the bare screen is very durable and looks cleaner.
I dont use a case and keep my phone in my pocket with car keys, house keys and loose change. The screen never gets scratched. And I have done that on my x10, my neo and now my T.
Disclaimer, if you take the protector off and then drop a working diamond tipped drill onto it and it scratches the screen, thats not my fault
So you think the factory installed "supposedly shatter-proof film" is meant to be removed before use (if you didnt like it) ?
like on my xperia s e my tablet s , i took it off on my XT and is so smooth ... the glass feel is 100times better then the plastic and the screen is sharper .. the screen protector preinstalled is so thick...

I'm glad you mentioned this. Has your Xperia T attracted particles underneath the camera or the gap between the display and corners while in your pocket? It may be too early to tell, but it seems all phones are prone with the issue.

so the issue I have is the feel of the screen with the think layer on it (not the free protector in the box or the other you can buy and apply).
So I too would be tempted to peel, but who else has done this.
Glass would indeed feel better.
I'm in doubt buy a protective film to use the Xperia Z, but I'm afraid to lose touch sensitivity and screen brightness too!
The anti-shatter that comes standard is very easy to scratch? I mean just scratch with normal use of the fingers!
On my Xperia S, the original film it was only scratching with normal use! I removed the film and left without!
But the Xperia Z to remove the film, the Sony comes out soon too and I did not want to lose it!
1) You left without anti-shatter film, only with him or bought another protective film?
2) Someone found to sell a new film with the logo of Sony?
You could remove the file to give it a cleaner look and then you can put on a screen protector that doesn't scratch like spigen ultra thin screen protector. But if you don't want to lose the logo put another screen protector on top. You won't lose screen responsiveness unless you get really bad quality screen protectors.
Press thanks if I helped

I bought Zagg Invisible Shield, is it good?
I have a minimal scratch on the back , used the phone very carefully but I don't know how I got it ( it's very small but it is) so it's scratches very quick ( at least in my case ) so I bought a film for the back. I will buy for the front too , but I will wait a little bit cause here in my stupid country we don't have alternatives

but it gets very easily scratched :S
I already had a few small scratches
I suggest you try one of the various cheap hard plastic screen protectors that are available. This cost only a few dollars so you can change them once every one or two months. That's what I do with my Note II
I think the point wawyed was making was your device is not scratched, the pre-installed film is.
There are quite a few threads on this exact topic already.... you can remove the pre-installed film if you wish - but you may loose your Sony logo. There are a few good replacement films out there (Spigen)
Bottom line: remove the stock film and replace, or leave the stock film - and put yet another one on top of it.

I read some informations on the net, but I` think the pre-installed one is a different kind of film
I was thinking about using a normal film over the pre-installed one

I had applied 3M Vikuiti ADQC27 to Xperia Arc S, S, T, TX and I ordered one more set for tomorrow when I get XZ. I was very pleased with this screen protector, but tomorrow I'll decide on which one to apply them: 3M or the 2 that come in the package (I ordered extra package with dockingstation, smartTags and screen protector). And yes, I put it over the preinstalled one :good:.
Where did you ordered the extra package?
get a set of these and be done with it!

The back of my phone has a couple of hairline scratches - I presume it's because of the bolts near my jeans' pocket. But the screen is fine so far. :victory:
Do you think that will be available a screen protector like the anti-shatter film that Sony put on the phone? It's scratching very easy and I'm thinking that if something similar will be available then I will remove the one from Sony and put that one. On other Xperia phones is available this kind of screen protector?

I think the chance of that happening is 1%, but I am surprised that companies haven't brought screen protectors with the sony logo/text.
Also a thing Sony could do is to bring out a services to re-apply the anti shatter sheet for us, specially since it scratches so easy.
Anyways, the reason why I don't see it happening is because the anti shatter sheet is being applied by a device, it needs to fit perfectly or it might lose it's function. Screen protectors can be applied by men, because it's only there to protect the device from scratches and such, not to stop the screen from shattering, even though normal screen protectors also do that, but on a smaller scale.
1. There is no screen protector with Sony logo because of patent / copy rights. It would be very expensive to get the right to use the logo.
2. Sony already offers the service to replace the anti shatter film. Costs about 20 bucks
Gesendet von meinem GT-I9100 mit Tapatalk 2
20 bucks is not much but I think is not ok to charge me that money for a piece of anti shatter film that scratches very very easily, I've put an cheap film and I will look for a better one in the future to preserve this anti shatter , but extremely scratching film from Sony. That's a huge minus for them. A gorilla glass would be a perfect solution, too bad that Sony didn't think of that. But I still love the phone
I'd prefer to completely remove the anti shatter film, but something is still holding me back. Maybe it's because I payed some hard earned money for that thing, whatever don't wanna argue about that here.
I did not put any other protection film on my XZ. I think it's odd to have two on you display and to be honest there is nothing compared to real glass. the feeling is way better... still don't wanna argue 'bout that.
so I have no protection on my display and I do not use a case... "this guy is an idiot" ...I will buy one soon; I promise. For now I use a little bag where I used to keep my sunglasses. Btw Krussel has some nice covers. "get to the point dude!" ...I keep my XZ in a sidepocket of my jacket and there is nothing else in that pocket and stil I got a few scratches on my display. It does not bother me at all. You have to look very closely to see them. What I am trying to say is that the anti shatter film scratches very easy and as far as I remeber there is gorilla glas underneath... so close, yet so far. I can live with that... for now. Someday I will take it off anyway. I just love my plain black XZ without any logos. LOL, I used to put a little piece of dark tape on my old s2, just to cover up the logo.
Hey guys,
My Xperia Z1 is 2 weeks old and I carried it in a flip case but still the included screenprotector has tons of scratches on it do you guys reccomend that I remove it?
EDIT: does the back glass have a screen protector too? And if i remove that will I remove the logos?
Thanks,
Noahvt
Yes , the back side has screen protector but if you remowe it you will not lose the sony xperia and nfc logo . If you remove the protectors sugest to replace them with tempered glass protectors because the back/front of the phone are more fragile without protectors .

Just removed the front protector (the back is not scratched yet so I will not remove it yet) And I got a bunch of ghost touches at first, after wiping the screen the ghost touches were reduced to a few but it's quite annoying, I assume this is just some glue residue left from the screenprotector? If so what would be the best approach to get rid of that residue?
Thanks,

Clean the screen with something . The ghost touches are from residue and buy a tempered glass for the screen because if you let it like this and scratches are going to appear on it then you wont be able to remove them.

Hey guys i bought my phone like 5 months ago and a week later i bought a plastic screen protector.
Today i took it cause i didnt like it anymore. I have like 3 little scratches that are hard to see. Now the touch screen feels so smoth but i have a question. How resistant is gorilla glass? Have anyone never used plastic screen protector on your moto g2?

Tempered glass feels just like gorilla glass, personally I've scratched the gorilla glass 2 and tempered glasses, small hard to notice scratches but the sand can scratch any screen

Same here. I've had mine for 7 months, dropped it on the floor, concrete, and everywhere you can imagine and no scratches. One thing that helps is the Tudia case I purchased on Amazon. It cushions very well in a drop and the slightly raised edge around the screen keeps the screen from contacting anything in case of a drop.
I'm using my phone for 5 months now without any protection, and I don't have any scratch on the glass.

You dont see it when the screen is on ans u are looking it directly, try when its off and make the light reflect on your screen then u will see them.
I got small ones before puting the plastic screen protector on now in using without it and yeah it feels so much better.

Same here .Don´t drop it,if you have it in your pocket (better in your jacket, not your trousers) be sure that there´s nothing else in it, handle with care.
I like the feeling of the screen without protector but you have to be a bit careful then.

Yeah I do the same... I never dropped the phone, I always have it in my pocket and I always make sure that nothing else is in my pocket.
It's a low budget phone with a great glass on the screen, I'm not going to ruin the user experience with screen protectors..
Actually I used my Galaxy S2 in the same way and I only got some mini scratches on it. Gorilla Glass FTW.
