is your phone booted in bootloader mode with htc drivers installed?
btw s-off will be a long journey if you don't know how to use adb and fastboot. Better to learn the bascis first before attempting to s-off. Otherwise, you'll probably end with a bricked phone. S-off is for advanced users and should only be attempted if you know what you are doing.
What is your goal, why do you need s-off?

Here it go:
HBOOT 1.57
baseband 4T.29.3018.08
Something more?
I want to set ViperOne ROM

s-off can't be achieved with revone on hboot 1.57 like said in revone thread, only for 1.44. with hboot 1.57 you must use firewater or sunshine s-off. You don't need s-off to flash a rom like Viper.
unlock the bootloader, flash a custom recovery and then flash the rom (viper)

The ViperOne Thread does say "S-Off Recomended", however, not required. With your current firmware you are able to flash ViperOne 7.0.1... If you had a previous firmware and unable to s-off to update, running ViperOne 6.2 is an option as well.

[SOLVED] Dead phone, RUU fails

The recovery is broken, and the rom doesn't boot.
I can enter the recovery, but as soon as I try to wipe data or install a rom, it reboots. I tried "fastboot erase cache", I tried reflashing CWM and TWRP, and I tried ADB Sideload on both, same results.
The only way for me is to run RUU, but the problem is, any RUU that I try says "The ROM Update Utility Cannot update you Android phone. Please get the correct ROM Update Utility and try again.
I am s-off and supercid on hboot 1.55, with the 3.57 firmware. Any ideas on how to get the RUU working? Thanks!

which RUU are using? you probably have to change CID to SuperCID.
also read through this about recovery problems: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2494111
EDIT: also for RUU to work, I believe you need to be locked or relocked.

I am already super CID, so I think the only issue is with the unlocked boot loader. I'm gonna try to re-lock it now. And thanks again for the warning, I won't go s-on
If you have S-off you don't have to lock your bootloader to run a ruu.

If that is the case, could the newer version of the hboot cause the issue? because I'm trying to flash an old RUU. I tried the hTC_Asia_WWE_1.29.707.3, which is for my region, as well as US_WWE_1.29.1540.16 (developer edition) as I'm supercid. both failed

For other RUUs check this site: http://www.htc1guru.com/downloads/ruu-file-downloads/
I find HTCdev way too confusing, as it clutters everything together, you can easily download a RUU for "HTC One S" instead of "HTC One" (aka M7)
And since you're S-Off downgrading is no problem

Help me please! :(

My current situation is : M7_UL PVT Ship S- On Tampered relocked & unrooted again. No Rom installed, no backup, no recovery!

I tried installing RUU file but it failed, tried two/three different RUUs.
Also tried to achieve S-Off but maybe I'm to dumb & it didn't work.

Im pretty sure you cannot boot into a custom recovery with S-ON
To remove the TAMPERED and LOCK the bootloader, you will have to S-OFF using rumrunner for hboot 1.5x or revone for hboot 1.44
The current Rumrunner can work with a custom rom e.g. the latest version of ARHD or Insertcoin ROM that has an unsecure kernel. To do this though you will have to unlock the bootloader using htcdev and install the custom rom and then S-OFF

Yeah you cant boot .img files any more with s-on or s-off htc removed it in the now HBOOT and fastboot.
Dont panic mate its really easy to fix
Simply download ARHD from http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2183023 make sure you have all the latest drivers and everything installed and rename the file to rom.zip you will need TWRP for this i believe and simply boot to recovery (TWRP) and push thw file to your sdcard using adb push rom.zip /sdcard (takes a while) simply flash arhd rom.
Once your phone boots you can use rumrunner.us to s-off the phone. Follow the instructions on their site. Once thats done boot to fastboot and use the command fastboot oem writecid 11111111 you will now have supercid and you can now flash any ruu you like. (unless you need to downgrade hboot.) If thats the case pm me and i can guide you through it on here.

I used to use ARHD but I switched to maximus HD because of the OTA and the 360 camera mod.
So to upgrade firmware you want to boot into fastboot and type "fastboot getvar mid" write it down then go to http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2485651 and download the correct version against your mid.
Put it in your adb/fastboot folders and making sure your still in fastboot type "fastboot oem rebootRUU"
Once you phone boots into update mode you will see a HTC logo on your screen and nothing else.
Rename the firmware you just downloaded to firmware.zip and type "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip"
It will say say failed pre hboot update flush image again. Simply type the exact same cmd again "fastboot flash zip firmware.zip" and it will flash the latest firmware.
The progress bar on your phone probably won't go all the way up but as long as cmd says finished its done so just type "fastboot reboot-bootloader" and if you look your main-os will have changed.
That's it.
Your on the latest firmware meaning all the Roms should run smoothly and you should have no more issues with exposed.

One thing I forgot to mention you need super cid so if you havn't already you need to be in fastboot and you need to type "fastboot oem writecid 11111111" and then fastboot reboot-bootloader you cod should have changed to 11111111 allowing you to flash an ruu for any phone now.
Everything done, thanks for your help!

Yeah afraid so. Tbf I don't know of that is the case for every phone but the m7_ul UK edition couldn't get it to work on any device I tried after contacting a friend who I have inside HTC's repair centre he claimed the feature does not work with the latest hboot.
I might see if I can get some other devices from work to test this further and if it is true for all variants then maybe enroll on a workaround

[Q] HTC One Bootloader problem after RUU

Hi!
I have a problem with my One after flashing a RUU.exe. At first I just wanted to put my device S-OFF for installing a Google Edition Rom. I tried every method with no succes. So I thought going back to the start by flashing the RUU.
My phone was rooted and Bootloader unlocked by HTC Dev. I started with locking the Bootloader. Now I'm stuck in Bootloader because every RUU install failed by noticing me that i tried to flash the wrong version. Furthermore I have no recovery anymore. Tried to flash a new one but i failed. I tried to flash RUU: 50_HTC_Europe_1.28.401.7_..._release_310878_signed .exe and RUU_M7_UL_JB_50_HTC_Europe_1.20.401.1_..._release_ 308001_signed_2_4.exe
My device is a branding free version.
Bootloader shows:
Hboot 1.44
Radio 4A.16.3250.24
OpenDsp- v26.120.274.0202
I have absolutely no clue what to do. I need help please!
Thanks in advance!

you have to use revone to get s-off on that hboot ^^, with a compatible ROM, I'll send you one by PM confirmed to be working....
then just follow the revone instructions correctly, and you should be have S-Off. (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2314582)

When you boot into bootloader (not recovery), it shows TAMPERED; does it show UNLOCKED?
-> if yes, what's your hboot version

you better check your "fastboot getvar all" (discarding IMEI and s/n) to see what your phone is, before proceeding

that does NOT sound right.... that sounds more like a dual-sim or other version; not an HTC ONE M7_UL or M7_U model !!!!!
Be careful!! you are going for a headache!!

I have a HTC One S. Not sure where this falls in the various HTC One models as far as designations.
Also, I don't understand what you mean by "fastboot getvar all".

S-Off

OK, so I've had my HTC One rooted for a little while. And I've researched into using apps like Freedom, but every time I use apps like that, my phone crashes and reboots. My phone also reboots at random times while using apps. I also cannot install busybox without it uninstalling on its own 10 mins. later. I just would like to know if you know any way off achieving S-Off that works?
NOTE: I've tried like 5 different methods I found off the internet but none have worked.

What Rom are you running? And what methods have you tried?
What will work depends on what version your bootloader is too
I am using the TWRP recovery. I have tried rumrunner which it says "bottle on too tight," and I have used a manual me this which I don't remember too many details of. My boot loader is unlocked completely. I was going to try Firewater but I was afraid it would wipe everything

Also, if you use firewater and get a "whelp" message then nothing will work other than sunshine method, which costs 25 buckaroos

I believe I'm on 1.57 boot loader with a stock ROM. I was looking into ARHD.

Many had luck getting s-off using Firewater, ARHD 31.6 and ElementalX
Even Stock Rooted One_5.11.401.10_odexed.zip and ElementalX and Firewater worked for some.

Sorry about reply. Don't know how to delete. Anyways, what do you mean? I got the phone new in factory condition then rooted it. On the bootloader it says hboot 1.57.

everytime you updated the hboot your chance of s-off got less and less. you could still get lucky but you should have got s-off on hboot 1.44 - 1.56
Darn. Truthfully, it may have been on 1.57 when I bought it.
