Recently I flash the rom of my Xiaomi Mi3 with the new unstable dev rom (miui 6).
Since this day, with an opened application, when I press the bottom left button action, it is no longer the "settings" menu of this application whis is opening but the "clean cache" operation.
In the "settings > buttons" I have 3 buttons to configure.
- recents
- home
- back
I imagine the "recents" is the one I am talking about in this thread. By the way, only those actions are allowed :
- None
- Launch Assistant
- Launch Google now
- Close current app
- show menu
But it is now the long press action button and no more the short one ... is there a way to restore the MIUI 5 default action ?
Short press > settings of the opened app
Thanks
Not possible until now. Maybe in the next releases.

I just ran into this site and being a new user of Miui, it totally blew my mind.

1. Long press on the icon in Toggles to launch the settings for that icon.
When you pull down the notification bar, you will see the Toggle settings for plenty of options (such as WIFI, volume, backlight etc). Long press on any icon in the Toggle mode will launch the setting for that icon.
2. Built-in Screen Capture function
One of the lacking feature in Android is the lack of a built-in screen capture feature (like in iPhone). Not anymore. With MIUI, you can press the “Menu” key and “Volume Down” key at the same time to capture a screenshot. The printed image is saved in the “MIUI: directory in the sd card.
3. Press Home key to preview screens
Pressing the Home button once will bring you back to the Home screen. Pressing the Home button button will show you all the screen thumbnails. You can also ad/remove screens from here.

In the SMS or Dialer app, swipe left or right any entry will bring up the Delete mode.

The default battery UI can be switched to display percentage of left battery capacity. To do so, go to “Settings -> System -> Battery Settings -> Battery Indicator Style -> Percentage“.
12. Long press on the Home button to show History
Like any other Android ROM, long press on the Home button will show the recently used apps. However, in MIUI, there is also an App Killer and App Manager button. Swiping the popup left will show the search form.
13. Setting up IP dialing
If you need to add an IP prefix for a particular number in a strange land, you can set it in Settings -> Common -> Calls Settings. Turn the “Auto IP dialing” ON and set the IP prefix and current area code.
14. Send SMS for rejected calls
When you are not available to answer the phone, you may slide up the panel to reject the call and to send a message to the caller at the same time.
15. Enable 720P to record a video
If your phone comes with a camera that support HD recording, you can enable 720P in the Video mode. Run the Camera app and switch to Video. Select “High” -> “720P” in the pop-up menu of video quality.

To uninstall an app, simply press and hold the icon until the trash bin show up at the top of the screen. Move the icon to the trash bin to uninstall the app.
17. Quickly read SMS and mark it read
In the lockscreen, press down the SMS button (without dragging it down) to reveal the new incoming message on the lockscreen. Once you have finished reading it, double tap on the SMS button to mark it read.

Hi. My power button starts to cause problems and sometimes I have to torment to bring up the menu (profiles, screenshot, reboot). Is there any way to create a shortcut to the menu? Eg "1Tap Quick Bar" app creates a shortcut, but only to reboot (even without the choice standard/CWM). I searched all activities of system apps but found nothing. As a last resort can I map the camera button as power one?
Just go to market and type "Shutdown Menu". It has everything you need.
OK thanks, but it solves my request partially. I need whole power menu with screenshot and profiles
Hi,
I have a Galaxy Tab Pro 10.1 tablet and developed an Android app which shows a webview in fullscreen mode, so no title bar in the app is visible.
The app also consists of an options menu. My problem is that a long press on the tablets menu button ( the button left to the home button) shows the option menu. The options menu should be only opened by a Javascript function I call in my webview.
Since the user should only see / work with the webview I want to disable accessing options menu by long pressing menu button. How can I disable this?
Thanks a lot...

Hi,
I've been doing some research on Huawei phones and found some tips which I thought I would share. If you find these useful press the like button.
1. Phone Search and recently used apps - Swipe down on homescreen (starting from about halfway down the screen, not from the top or notification centre/quick settings will be displayed) and you will get a search box to search, Apps, Contacts, Browser History, Recent Apps
2. Lock recent apps - In the recents menu (square button in navigation bar) if you swipe down on the App it locks it so it won't be deleted from your recents (I'm testing this to see if it helps with notifications coming through).
3. Photo Focus and Exposure - Long press on the screen when in Camera App and you get two circles for seperate focus and exposure
4. Quick photo - When phone is locked, press volume down twice quickly and it will take a photo really quick
5. Split screen - Long press recents to open the split screen multi-tasker.
Experience sharing on another way (Timed) of using Convenience key as Mute Switch
Prerequisites
(i) Button Mapper https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=flar2.homebutton
(ii) SilentTime apk (attached)
(iii) Convenience Key is free from configurations (if not free Go to Settings > Convenience Key > tap Clear)
(Iv) Blackberry ketone with Android v7.1.1 (method may work on other versions)
1) Installed SilentTime app , now opened Silent Time Setter (It forms two icons at the app drawer SilentTime and Silent Time Setter) and set the required duration (30 min or 1 hr or 2 hr etc) to keep the phone in silence once it got activated, select vibrate or silent mode , finally click on Set
2) Opened Button Mapper application > Add Buttons > tap / touch the + (Plus) Icon > press the convenience key, it will detect the convenience key and provide entry as PP_SHORT_TOUCH 284
(accessibility option enabled for Button Mapper, Settings > accessibility > Button mapper > enable)
3) Touch / tap on PP_SHORT_TOUCH 284 to Customize the key> set "Long press" > Now from the top selected option "Applications" > further selected SilentTime” from list of applications
[Post requisites: ( I have done but may not be required)
(I) Do not disturb override permissions at Notification access given to both Button mapper and SilentTime (Settings > Notification > Do not disturb override enable for both these apps)
(II) Automatic start permissions given to both Button mapper and SilentTime
(App drawer > Power Center >manage automatic apps > enable both these apps)
(IiI) exemption from power optimization given to both Button mapper and SilentTime (App drawer > Power Center > turn on battery optimisationall apps > enable for both these apps)l]
Now press power button and conveyance button simultaneously to mute to timed duration or unmute alternatively even while the phone in deep sleep.
Note: Convenience Key can also be configured to open the SilentTime from built in facility but it is unable to act without unlocking the phone , however if we unlock, we have many options, no longer convenience key is required.
Acknowledgement: This was my long back idea but it got a realization as got introduced to Button Mapper App from writing of Mr Glen L- Thanks.
Caution: This is only experience sharing, without any responsibility, user has to take care that the convenience key is not long pressed unintentionally while phone is in wake up state or simultaneous pressing of power key and conveyance key while the phone is in deep sleep , otherwise it may lead to not responding to a phone communication during the set period and its relevant consequences. Further one more limitation with this app is that if the phone is restarted in mute condition it shall not unmute even after expiry of set duration.
My idea is that Blackberry should have provided a configurable timed mute key / button in a recession so that it cannot be pressed unintentionally in future phones (many of apple / oneplus one users forget slide back the switch to unmute)
New finding on 12.02.19 : the same can be achieved differently by with the conveyance button's built in configuration method (Settings > conveyance key > shortcuts >open app > SilentTime ) . However we have to press first power key, then conveyance key to enable timed mute or unmute alternatively (but we have to disable customise option of Button Mapper App (Button Mapper > Add button > PP_SHORT_TOUCH 284 > put off customise) or uninstall Button Mapper
