your android version is over a year old .. where did you find a kernel that supports 4.1.2 ?
you have to reflash your rom to overwrite the bogus kernel
you should also at this time update your custom recovery to TWRP 2.6.3.3 or 2.6.3.0 if your on Sprint
@patelkd007
ok first of all:
Never change a Kernel without being entirely sure that 1) it's for the device 2) it works with the OS 3) it is know to be working on sys configs like yours.
In order for me to help you please provice the following things:
> Link to Kernel you downloaded
> Link to OS you have previously installed if it isn't stock
Remember to quote or mention me to get an answer!
Most likely you won't be able to save your old ROM. But hey, give me the infos and I'll take a look into that. Maybe check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2632736 and read through the part "Bootloop, No OS, Totally f*cked up OS? No Problem"
I have a tool that can save automatically your SD Card to your pc. So your data won't be lost!

Hi Thanks for your help.
I left the phone on the same screen till it drained out battery.
I rebooted phone in recovery mode and restore the backup and fixed the issue.

HTC SDK API level 5.12
Kernel version:

(preferred and most reliable method).
2.) flash a different rom.
NOTE: No amount of messing around with su binaries and apk's is going to fix thi
s issue for you!!!.
2)Tried Flashing ROM
>Error:
Rebooting into recovery mode and needs to be restored from backup
Can you please suggest me whats the right way to progress further so, I can enjoy installing custom ROM?

Try this
from fastboot USB
Flash recovery TWRP 2.6.3.3
http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-2.6.3.3-m7.img
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
then sideload this Rom to your phone
https://www.androidfilehost.com/?fid=23269279319197489
TWRP / Advanced / ADB Sideload - swipe to sideload
From PC adb / fastboot folder
you use
adb sideload name-of-rom.zip
make sure the rom is in the same folder as adb / fastboot

Once you have ARHD on the phone try moonshine or rumrunner again. Firewater may also work to s-off your phone.

- Flash recovery TWRP 2.6.3.3
- then sideload this Rom to your phone
TWRP / Advanced / ADB Sideload - swipe to sideload
From PC adb / fastboot folder
adb sideload name-of-rom.zip
it was 100 percent successful when I have followed above step but It stuck on black screen.

you may have gotten a blackscreen because you didn't wipe your phone properly. It's about the same as @clsA wrote. But it's a bit more step for step. The recovery seems to be working. The ROM he gave you seems to be ok, you just need to MD5 check it with this tool here (compare with md5 given on the download page): http://download.cnet.com/MD5-Checker/3000-2092_4-10410639.html
Bootloop, No OS, Totally f*cked up OS? No Problem
THIS WILL DELETA ALL YOUR APPS AND APP DATA BUT NOT SDCARD!
First of all, make a factory reset in TWRP... then follow the next steps.
Now the key step here copying the rom.zip to your sdcard. You do this this way
Since you are in the recovery you should be able, no.. actually will be able to use adb commands
To copy the rom zip us this command:
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_rom\rom_name.zip" /sdcard/rom.zip
If this one results in supersu and permission errors, try these paths(Thanks @Sneakyghost for this advice!)
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_rom\rom_name.zip" /storage/emulated/0/rom.zip
Code:
adb push "C:\path_to_rom\rom_name.zip" /data/media/0/rom.zip
Now, in the recovery, choose install and select the rom you should've just copied and install/flash it.
After that make a factory reset, the standart when chosing wipe in TWRP.
Happy rebooting!

Okay, custom recovery, rooted. Custom ROM? You didn't say. In any event, you will need to flash stock recovery and unroot. I think both can be done with AIO Tools. Then you can update. If on custom ROM, S-Off, flash stock recovery, downgrade HBoot, and RUU.

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2691787
I unlocked boot loader, rooted, installed TWRP recovery and superSU. My phone is Vodafone UK with 4.4.2 running but the the new update ruined my phone with some very serious and annoying bugs. Can I flash this stock rom intended for PN0710000 without changing my MID of Vodafone? Please help !
It doesnt work it starts with the program to update but within the minute it stops....Proberply because i have CWM recovery in the boot and not the Original HTC recovery and finaly because i dont have s-Off
edit I now have s-off 02:16 AM
I have did it, the S-OFF is a must and now i completely stocked my htc one. Everything works perfect also the over the air (ota) update works. Thanks to you all who made restore possible.:good:
I've been having some problems recently. I've been wanting to update to Kitkat but I have replaced the stock recovery software with CWM, and thus it doesn't work.
To solve this problem I've figured out that I need to get my claws on an RUU, which I have. Hopefully I've grabbed the right one. It doesn't seem like the RADIO serial-thingy matches though. Device has
Code:
4A.21
whilst the RUU has
Code:
4A.23
.
I've tried using the RUU in fastboot but later figured out that I need to have S-OFF for that. That is currently not the case. I've tried using both Firewater and Rumrunner. According to the instructions I'm required to have the phone on in the usual way. As in, not in the bootloader. The problem is that my phone is stuck in some restart loop. When reaching the PIN-screen it will automatically restart/crash after a few seconds. I can however use the phone as usual during this time. Sometimes, it alerts me with an error.
It also seems like the battery completely empties itself sometimes. This is when trying to restore it, getting in and out from the bootloader and the like.
Here's some software info:

If the RUU is an .exe file, then try placing it in the same folder as your ADB/FASTBOOT files. Plug-in your phone to your PC so that it is recognized on the PC then double click the RUU.exe file. Follow the on-screen instructions. You don't need S-OFF to run an RUU for your phone with the correct CID & MID providing the RUU is the same version or higher.

It looks like a PC issue. Check out this post Installscript setup launcher has stopped working! In the reply they list two methods it looks like you did the first one. Sometimes, I just have to reboot the computer to get everything set correctly.

Unfortunately, none of these methods helps. The device is supposed to be in Fastboot USB mode when the RUU is launched, yes?

what is the ruu version you are trying to use (complete file name)?
easiest way: download this guru reset file, its exactly the same version you have on your phone now.
http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_3-62-401-1-zip/
put TWRP 2.6.3.3 (recommended) recovery on your phone
copy the zip to your SDcard
Enter recovery and flash like you would do with a custom rom
in the Aroma installer, select wipe data, install stock recovery, install stock radio when prompted.
This file will put you back to fully stock.

Hi, I'm a newbie and I was supposed to post a thread regarding a problem I'm facing similar to this. So if it's alright, I'll post it here also and ask for your advice. I recently unlocked my HTC One w/ 4.4.2 amd Sense 6.0 a few days ago and was also able to flash CWM custom recovery and root it. I then tried flashing the latest Android Revolution HD, when I rebooted the phone after intallation, it just stays on the first spash screen. I forgot that I needed to S-off my device. So now, I can only access the bootloader and recovery. The status of my device currently is *Tampered*, Unlocked and S-On with 1.57 Hboot. Also, I can't copy files from my PC to the device. I don't know what to do. I've been reading around but I think I need some concrete advice. Thank you in advance.

Best to start your own thread, but on a quick fix, your problem is CWM, you need to use TWRP recovery to flash that rom, also recommend 2.6.3.3
Tampered and unlocked is normal, nothing to worry about, and you don't need s-off to flash custom rom's, just an unlocked bootloader

Did you name that file yourself, that's the wrong file, that one is O2 "206", hence 4.20.206.16 you need 401, 3.62.401.1 which is WWE, the same number under your os information in your first post and the same as the guru reset I linked.

put TWRP 2.6.3.3 (recommended) recovery on your phone
copy the zip to your SDcard
Enter recovery and flash like you would do with a custom rom
in the Aroma installer, select wipe data, install stock recovery, install stock radio when prompted.
This file will put you back to fully stock.

TWRP 2.6.3.3 has been flashed and I'm currently downloading the .zip file. Is there a way to put the archive on the device staying in TWRP/Fastboot?

with your phone booted in twrp main menu, and the rom.zip in the same folder of adb.exe and fasboot.exe:
Code:
adb push guru_reset_m7_3.62.401.1.zip /sdcard/
wait for the file to transfer (5-10 min) (there is no progress bar just wait adb to tell you the file transfer is complete)
then in twrp hit "install" and then choose guru_reset_m7_3.62.401.1.zip

Thanks!
On an unrelated side-note; if I "thank" someone in the forum, does that count as an upvote or a complete fix regarding my problem (like StackOverflow works)?

no, hitting the "thank" button doesn't count as an upvote like on other forum. This is only to say thank you to a person who helped you.

this is a reset rom
flash it from twrp 2.6.3.3 or from cwm recovery
select to restore stock radio and stock recovery
then you'll be fine to take ota updates.
the file you are currently downloading isnt for your phone.
edit:
well @Seanie280672 already suggested you to do this (just saw his previous post)

i use TWRP v2.5.0.0
is there any way to update twrp? (latest roms require 2.6 twrp or higher???)
Download the 2.6.3.3 version of TWRP, rename the file to recovery, place the .img file in the folder on your PC where ADB is located and then flash in fastboot with fastboot flash recovery recovery.img. After that command completes, run fastboot erase cache. Then you can copy the ARHD 81 .zip to your phone and flash away.
after that i have tried:
So now you probably have screwed your partitions flashing an incompatible rom and recovery to your phone. Flash a twrp version for Sprint variant and then format data and flash a Custom rom compatible with Sprint phones (M7WLS)
Sprint TWRP here: http://techerrata.com/browse/twrp2/m7wls
Sprint roms here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/spri...ne/development
i have flashed sprint twrp and sprint roms:
Bad Boyz Sprint ONE ROM 4.4.2 Sense 6 v1.0
ROM] Eragon v53Stable&clean|Sense/Aosp/GPE mix, ROM for the HTC One
Sprint_Eragon_V_54.0.0.zip
ViperOne 7.0.1
and they all have same issue.
installation went well. on first boot rom went to lock screen. after unlocking only white screen occurs with green htc logo.
after that dialer app reports crushing
what to do next?
do i need to unlock sprint sim since i live in croatia (europe)?
thanks for help
You should RUU and get everything working the way it should again.
Then flash a rom from the Sprint section.

NOTE: Read the threads, the instructions I'm giving you are just for you to gauge the difficulty of this task, to see if you can do it. Don't follow my instructions! Read the threads!
Read this first.
Then get this firmware.zip and put it in your adb/fastboot folder
source
reboot into fastboot mode with:
adb reboot bootloader
unless you don't have ADB, which you probably don't because you dun goofed when you flashed an Int'l ROM. In which case just press and hold power + vol down and pray.
once you're in fastboot mode, check to see if your device is recognized (may have to do this as root user in linux):
fastboot devices
This should list your device. If nothing comes up, check back here.
Now we're gonna lock your bootloader because RUU fails on unlocked bootloaders (security reasons). Skip this if you're S-Off (you shouldn't be, that's for advanced users).
fastboot oem lock
Now you're gonna go into RUU mode, which lets you modify all partitions of the phone (because you won't be in one):
fastboot oem rebootRUU
Now, we're going to flash the stock image to all the partitions of your device. This is the step that will undo your mistake!
fastboot flash zip firmware_version.zip
NOTE: Change the name of firmware_version.zip to whatever you download from above. If you get an error saying "flush again immdeiately," flash again immediately; just put in the exact same command.
Done. Just finalize with this:
fastboot reboot-bootloader
And then unplug and redo your entire root/ROM process from there.
Hopefully this mini guide will give you an idea of whether you'll need further help. @BD619 is a great fellow to ask.
thank you. you are a life saver. my phone is alive
iv unlocked the bootloader. what do i have to do now install custom rom?
Hello Devs,
I am assuming that I soft bricked my ATT HTC M7 today. I actually did the following
1. Unlocked Bootloader though HTCDev - Successful
2. Installed SuperUser - Successful (Failed as the partition has been completely wiped off)
3. S -off - Biggest mistake - Didn't do.
4. Recovery - Successful (twrp, Philz and CWM) worked fine, currently have Philz.
5. Tried RUU, but the version doesn't match with the version of existing image in the device. Gives an error)
6. Assuming, the data in the device is only the recovery and the boot loader. Also, all the recoveries have been accidentally wiped off.
7. Tried Side-Load, (confused - if I used wrong kernel, so the ROM installs, but never past the HTC logo screen).
Please suggest any of your valuable advices or atleast a link or thread to exact RUU of 5.12.502.2 (ATT, Stock)... I don't know what I'm doing...Please help ad your help will be greatly appreciated.:

you are likely using a wrong recovery version for the ROM you are flashing, most ROMs prefer TWRP 2.6.3.3, 2.8.0.0 or 2.8.0.1 (eg ARHD82 will not flash with twrp 2.8.0.2)
flash correct recovery (depending on the ROM), and install it
check the Frequently Asked Question sticky page 3
for more information
post back here, if you have further questions
There is no ruu for 5.12.502.2 but if you want to go back to stock, there is reset rom made by clsA that match your version here: http://www.htc1guru.com/dld/guru_reset_m7_5-12-502-2_clsa-zip/
flash like a rom, following instructions from nkk71 above.

i realize you may be having a hard time, so my sincerest apologies for giving you an even more hard time
provided the hardware is not messed up, everything will be fine, you just need:
proper ROM (ie md5 checks out)
correct recovery for whatever rom you want to install
a little patience (first clean flah for a HTC Sense based ROM can take "almost" 20 mins)

Hello,
in the near future I will try to unlock and root my international HTC One M7. Because I don't have many experiance with rooting (so far I have rooted only one phone (HTC Desire Z) a few years ago) I would apriciate some help and tips.
I have seen some nice video tutorials how to unlock and root HTC M7 on xda website:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/htc-one/#root
The only problem is that these videos seems quite old and I don't know if procedure is still the same on newer versions of HTC One software? Currently I am running stock Sense software (Android 4.4.3, Sense version 6.0, Software number: 6.09.401.11)
Please tell me if I can follow these video tutorials to root my One even thou I am running newer software and if not which rooting procedure do you recomend for me?
Thanks in advance!

If you are 100% stock at the moment then wait for the Lollipop update which should come to your phone very very soon, because once you root, the update will fail, due to unlocking the bootloader which resets the phone and also deletes the data / preload folder required to update.
However to root, just unlock your bootloader at HTCDev, during the process it will give you sone ADB and fastboot files, keep these, you will need them, then flash TWRP recovery, enter recovery, exit recovery, it will ask you if you want to root before exiting, say yes, when the phone reboots, open SuperSU to update your binary, done.
Thanks!
One more question. Do I have to toggle S-ON to S-Off if i Want to install costum ROMs and kernel?

no, and never toggle, s-off costs $25 using sunshine s-off tool, and if you decide to go that way, never ever s-on again unless for waranty purposes.

Unlock your bootloader: follow instructions from htcdev.com/bootloader
Flash TWRP recovery:
Code:
fastboot flash recovery <filename>.zip
fastboot erase cache
fastboot reboot-bootloader
Then boot in TWRP and flash the latest supersu zip from TWRP recovery
the twrp recovery downloads as a .img file
:crying:
am I using the correct download, the
C:\Android>fastboot flash recovery twrp-3.0.0.2-m7.img
error: cannot load 'twrp-3.0.0.2-m7.img'

the twrp file (yes its a .img file) must be in the same folder where you have adb.exe and fastboot.exe installed on your computer.
"Error: cannot load" = I can't (fastboot) find the file you're talking about
most probable causes:
File not in the right folder
Typo in the file name
I have been distracted..... it has flashed the twrp img file.
how do I
"3. Then boot in TWRP and flash the latest supersu zip from TWRP recovery"
I have the supersu.zip file saved in the same folder on PC.
thankyou for your time and patience alray
