Any non-root method to get Google Now back on lockscreen Navring? - Xperia Z3 Compact Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

I already did the one to get rid of the stupid "What's New" navring target, but how can we get Google Now back on the lock screen? Having the camera there seems redundant with the shutter button.

Nm, I just decided to unlock and root.

[Q] Google Now gesture bar?

I don't remember seeing the animation/graphic when starting Google Now before the upgrade to Kitkat yesterday (AT&T), but now there is a graphic. Is there any way to add additional options to this gesture? I.e., can I use the same gesture and have a "Chrome" or "Hangouts" bubble in addition to the "Google" bubble available?
The other question I have is if it is possible to turn off the lock screen when security hasn't kicked in yet?
As a follow-up, the closest I could find is the "Google Now Swipe Disabler" app where you can either disable or hijack the gesture to run something else. Unfortunately, I use GN, so I don't want to replace it but add to it.

Can't remove persistent Google search bar

I've read in several places that you can get rid of the persistent Google search bar on the stock home screen by long-pressing it and responding to the dialogue box that then pops up. I've tried this and the long press has no effect on mine.
I've also tried disabling Google Search and, while this did stop the search app from starting when I tapped the persistent search bar, it didn't make the bar go away.
I'm running the UK customised version of the .77 stock firmware.
Anyone got any ideas why this isn't working for me, and/or what I could do to make the thing go away without running a custom home screen or installing Xposed? I do know that removing it won't buy me any extra home screen space, but I just don't like it being there!
I don't know if I'm missing anything, but if I long press on the homescreen to enter the mode for adding widgets I'll have the possibility to remove/add the Google search bar.
Brilliant! Many thanks. This is clearly a different method for removing the search bar than all those articles and threads that I found (eg this one started in September last year) - and much better too, because you don't have to delete the stock home app's data and lose all your carefully laid out home screens if you decide that you want to get it back at a later date. Presumably it's a change that was made because of that very problem. I wonder why the updated functionality never came to light in any of my Googling or XDA searches? I'm normally pretty good at tracking down info that way. Perhaps my mojo is waning...
This feature is only for the Xperia launcher, it's better than the google launcher, that you can't get rid of it

Notifications on lock screen?

Purchased a very lovely P9 on Friday, and have a quick question about the lock screen.
On my Z3 (and other droids), you could swipe down from the top of the lock screen to see your notifications, once you had cleared them from the lockscreen.
I cant seem to find an option to do this on my P9. Is this disabled in the Emui software, or is there a way to enable it i have missed?
(I must admit, I didn't know to swipe UP on the lock screen to get the quick settings to appear until about an hour ago!)

I'm also missing this option. It is really useful and should be supported. Maybe some other lock screen app has it? I'm also missing how to dismiss notification from lock screen. I can only open notification but no to dismiss it. Any idea?

annoying pop up notice

does anyone know how to turn off this annoying pop up whenever i double press home button to use camera?
and screen over ray disable when i install new apps.
yeah its really annoying!
No but if you do let me know.
Whats the point of quick launching the camera if you have to dismiss that before snapping a pix
I have no pop up message, when double clicking home button, goes straight to camera and it should be some setting you made, because I haven't played much with settings, so mostly factory settings and don't have it. I also haven't seen overlay disable message either and I installed plenty of programs. I got once warning, something wouldn't run (can't remember what) if I don't disable overlay, it's probably some Google protection, so I don't give unwanted permission to program hiding under screen overlay. Personally I think it's all nonsense, after a while people will click OK without even reading the message or not fully understand the message. Probably another setting in security somewhere. Sorry I can't pinpoint exact issue to fix it.
I used to get the Screen overlay warning whenever I was updating permissions AND I had a floating app like Hover Note or Hover Browser floating anywhere on the screen.
The only other time I got it if I didn't have those up was when I had Twilight installed to reduce blue light from my phone. I had to pause it in order to get that Screen relay alert to stop showing up then.
I never get that message and double press home to get the camera all the time

Fingerprint Scanner: Lockscreen useless

With the fingerprint scanner's ultra fast response, entering the home screen is very quick. Thus, the lockscreen is rendered useless. Is there any way fingerprint scan opens the lock screen instead of the home screen just like how the iPhone implements it?
The fingerprint is for unlocking, so why showing the Lockscreen when you want to unlock. Just press the power button.
But I think it should be possible with Tasker, give it a try.
It should be useless, step back and one step more for unlocking -> loss of time.
I would like to have a option to double tap for waking the device. Just for checking notifications/time and not to press power button every damm time.
Is it possible?

Well in the lock screen, notifications are shown instantly, and looks cleaner; whereas in the home screen you have to swipe down from the status bar to access them. Apple have thought of it and so the iPhone 7 functions in this manner.
So what I'd like to see is: Fingerprint scan > double tap notification > app
Instead of: Fingerprint scan > swipe down from home screen> tap notification > app
An ability to switch to whichever sequence you want will be great.
Take a look at this.
As I already said, Tasker should be an option for your purpose.
My opinion is another than yours, I think it's very annoying what Apple did and my wife is always yelling at her iPhone because of this "feature".
I didn't have this on my previous i6s because I used to jailbreak and there was only iOS9.
The jailbreak issue was the reason for me why I leaves Apple for Huawei.
Now I have the original smart cover for my P10 and the most annoying thing of this cover is, that Huawei won't allow third party apps the access to the smart cover lockscreen, so they can display notification icons on it.
But when I want to turn on my screen I either lift the cover or, when it's already lifted, I push the power button. Even though I'm a leftie I think it's a good solution and works very well.
