Hello all.
Looking to maybe getting a Moto X on Verizon, which I understand does not have root. Has anyone tried Secure Settings with the device? Specifically, I am wondering if it can currently disable/enable a PIN for security. On my Razr M it works fine when root access is denied, but the app is usually pretty device specific and this is something I don't want to live without.
Thanks!

Hi guys, I've been looking into the security permissions that some apps require and I'm quite frankly bewildered why a simple torch app needs access to my phone calls numbers network emails etc etc etc - you get the picture
This issue is being discussed all over the internet with increasing concerns
So I know the Experia Z needs to be rooted to make use of any effective app that can do this sort of thing
so I want to know if anyone has actually tried any of them on a rooted phone and which one is recommended to use and works on the EZ
I looked at "Permissions Denied" but have no information that it works effectively on the EZ
Thx in advance
Hey guys I was looking around the store and only found a tasker for 3.63USD that seems to do this (althought it required another side app and it says on the description it might not work)
So I was wondering if you know of any app that can allow me to toggle specifically data mobile connection among other system function as bluetooth, wifi etc.
I used to use Macrodroid for this functions but since now I am required to root my phone for that and since I don't want to mess with a new nexus 5x I am stuck without finding a solution for this .
thanks in advance.
So I am currently trying to make a non-root app that sends a text message with the geo position when receiving a password with the app factory. Problem is, that I haven't been able to find any reliable method of activating GPS on non-root devices. I have looked into secure settings, but that one needs root access to change location status. AutoTools secure settings has to be set up from the pc through adb to work proberly and most shell commands need root access as well.
So after all this I have narrowed it down to the possibility of being able to force android to show the GPS dialogue for the app. Is this possible, and if so, how?
I'm running OP2 with Pixel Experience android 8.1

Things have been changed after jelly bean... To enable gps automatically we need root permission.. I use AutomateIt app for the same setup but i needed root to activate gps automatically.

Dang it! I know it's possible with autotools, it's just not optimal for a. User to have to connect their device to the pc, learn about adb and all to get it to work..
I want AOD to always be off, but when I get a new notification, I want AOD to enable itself. Is this possible to do without root?
I found a post on Reddit, but unsure if its worth buying tasker, as I'm unsure if it requires root or not to work

Can anyone with tasker that doesn't have root access test it for me? Thanks
Any other options to do this without root access?
Yes that profile will work without root. You will have to connect your phone to a computer & enable the write secure settings permission via ADB for Tasker though, which is easy.
Does there exist an app locker that fully works with Android 11? By "app locker" I mean an app that presents a lock screen on a per-app basis. (Fingerprint support is also good!)
Every one I've tried in Play Store fails to lock the settings, which means it's trivial to bypass by simply uninstalling (and deactivating admin for those that go at least that extra step). Note: I'm not asking for a hacker-proof locker app, just one that is not trivial to bypass for the average or moderately above average user. I do also have a proper lock screen and remote wipe enabled for deeper protection. My use case is just more of a extra bit of protection for if somebody picks up my phone while it is unlocked unattended - just the extra protection so it's not so easy to see email or messages, etc.
I had a OnePlus before getting my Pixel 5A and OxygenOS has such an app lock feature. Again, it wasn't hacker-proof, but it was also not trivial to bypass.
Root/Magisk/XPosed module suggestions are okay for me.
I really am looking into this right now, I need it too!
I found a good one. I tried a lot of different ways to bypass it, but it consistently works. Now, of course, as anybody will tell you, since it runs as a user app, there are ways to kill it (via ADB etc) so it's important to still have device-level security. This is just a defense-in-depth measure, such as when somebody is borrowing your phone or you left it unlocked unattended and want to slow down an adversary.
