i am a windows phone user and i started using windows phone from the beginning (HTC HD7) now i have lumia 920,720,620,630,625 and they all driving me crazy with the notification problem.
the problem is after i install a new app every thing work fine for 1 or 2 days then i boom no notifications at all. i tried soft reset, hard reset, update every thing in the book and still no solution for this problem i am now one step away from selling or giving or throwing all my lumias and get any android phone just to get my notifications any one here can help me or explain this thing to me why all the apps have notification problem in windows phone whyyyyyyyyyyyy!
(my girl friend and my brother girlfriend they both have lumia 620 too and they have the same problem)
If you don't periodically open the app (it should be something like a week or two, not two days, but still) the OS assumes you don't really care that much about the notifications and cuts them off to save battery.
You can see info about the status of background features (like notifications) in Settings -> Applications -> Background Tasks
No i am talking about whatsapp facebook viber... Apps that i use daily and i have wp8.1 .
This problem is really driving me crazy :/
Follow the below Instructions.
Hope you have choosen to allow Push Notifications on fisrt start of the application.
Battery Saver > Settings >Battery Saver (Off)
Or put it on "When Battery is low"
Make sure that background permissions for app is allowed.
Now go to
Settings > Notifications+access > Your Desired App >
1. Allow to show in Action Centre.
2. Show Notification banners.
3. Notification Sound default or whatever.
Press thanks if this helped.

no notifications
Hmm, something wrong with you.
You need to submit your device to Nokia Care having the issue with firmware.

I use Windows Phone for a long time. From HTC 7 Mozart to Lumia 920 then Lumia 930 and I never have a problem with notification. I think it will be some misconfiguration of your.
What data connection you use? You should try to disable both battery saver and data sense. Then make sure that you didn't disable any notification in settings -> notifications+actions.
I am using wp for a long time too from the htc hd7 to 920 630 720 625.. An i have this problem in all my windows phones my battery saver and data sens are both off i think that the problem is from ms notification server i did some search and i found similar problems in different wp devices . I sent email to ms and still no response
Yes, this problem exists. Only built-in app has toast notifications on WP8.1.
Does Microsoft know about this problem? Are they working on a solution? Or is there any solution you know?

For me a workaround was to make sure the app I want notifications from is running, then press the recents button and find the app on the list, then swipe the app down, it will only move a little way then spring back and also obtains a small padlock icon.
You will probably also need to go to the settings menu and find either protected apps or app settings (depends if you are using the Lollipop version or the Marshmallow beta) and enable the setting for the app which makes it stay awake when the phone sleeps.
Thanks so so much. I try this out
You have tomark the app to run in background...
this is no bug it is an energy saving feature.
the device has a stock white list of apps allowed to run in background.
but normally you re asked if an app should be able to run in background or not.
any app that is not allowed to will be closed immediately in standby

I've tried all of the above and still was missing viber notifications. Then I disabled Phone Manager and this sorted out the problem completely.

That's the way.
Hey all,
there is probably nothing new for you that the long-running application consuming some bigger amount of power are killed after some time on Huawei P10 (and on other Huawei/Honor phones using EMUI). I use Runkeeper for example and it's always killed after some time (1-3 hours). I tried those:
Settings > Battery > "gear icon" > "Close excessively power-intensive apps" > Off
Settings > Battery > Lock screen cleanup > "Don't close Runkeeper app"
Apps > Settings > Special access > Ignore battery optimization > "Allow Runkeeper app"
I tried to kill "Power Genius" system app. I tried to kill "imonitor" system app but it's started again in a while
I tried to open the recent applications and lock the application by a padlock.
There is nothing more I could try. Still the same issue. So my question is if there is some workaround for that even when I would have to root my phone.
Thanks!!
Try to Open the recent application and click the lock icon to keep the application from being killed.

Thanks for reply. I tried that but it also didn't help :-/. I updated the list of attempts in my first post.
I installed the new update B133 and it's seems to be fine so far. I biked with Runkeeper 4h30m yesterday.

Same probleam with me cant fix
It seems that the only workaround for that is to buy a big powerbank and keep a phone charging all the time you are running a power-instensive app. Then the app is not killed.
I hate Huawei. They do not reply to my mails and a support does not work. This bug should be fixed for a phone like P10.
I had a similar problem with Strava. After an hour or so it was killed. Hopefully the issue gets solved in the B164 version.

I hope that also. The option to turn off this aggressive behavior is in the settings but it obviously doesn't work. I'm pretty sad that I didn't find any way how to report this bug to Huawei. I just got an anwser from Czech 1st level support that I can complain about it to a seller. I hope that they know about this bug and they are going to fix it. It's already 3rd update and this bug is still there.
Did it get fixed?
I’m currently looking into buying a new phone, and I came across the P10 and fairly quickly this issue caught my attention - I’m not going to buy a phone that automatically kills the programs I want to have running, so does anyone know if this got fixed?

Allow unlimited data access, whitelist from battery saving, and allow to run in background.
Allow the app to ignore battery optimization too

I've tried all the suggestions here and still have trouble. I'd leave my phone for an hour or so, turn the screen on and a whole bunch of notifications come pouring in from WhatsApp, Gmail, Messenger etc.
My settings are:
1. Apps -> Apps -> Special Access -> Battery Optimisation -> Not Optimised (for all my email and messaging apps)
2. Battery -> App Launch -> Manage Manually (for all my email and messaging apps)
3. Wireless & Networks -> Data Usage -> Data Saver -> Off
Is there anything else I need to do? This is a serious problem for me and quite frankly, I need to get a new phone if this keeps happening.

Thanks for your reply. I've already done that actually. If you don't touch your phone for say an hour, are you sure the notifications are coming in when it's sleeping and not just when you turn your screen back on?

Thanks for your help, I've discovered the issue now. I don't remember if someone mentioned this earlier and I'm not sure how I missed it, but the issue wasn't the apps closing when the phone went to sleep (since I did everything to make sure they didn't close), the problem was that the phone would switch off LTE and/or Wifi when the screen is off. The setting that controls this is in: Settings - Battery - More Battery Settings - Stay connected when device sleeps. Make sure this is turned on (it was turned off for me before).
I feel almost certain this was turned on in the past and feel it was only turned off in one of the firmware updates. I most certainly would never have turned that off. I can't believe they would use that as a default option since I can imagine only the most battery conscious users would want that off. They should at least have an option where the phone would automatically turn data back on periodically to check for notifications. I know there are third-party apps that do this but if they're going to include an option like that built-in, they should do it properly.
Anyway, problem solved, hope this helped someone else out there.
I have the same issue, but Stay Connected is on, and has been for as long as I've had the problem (2-3 days). No new apps, no new updates, affects all my apps. Driving me nuts. Anything else than doing a full wipe left to try?
same here, till yesterday everything was working fine, i didn't install a new app, configuration of battery settings, data background running is the same, also app locked in recent to run backround as before. update i did before 3 weeks. very strange
I'm very sure this problem occur since the newer software update, my device have same issue.
You can check how to remove PowerGenie (the huawei stock battery management), removing PowerGenie 'might' help you fix it.
I called Huawei and asked, and got a fix! It's not a huge lump of fun, but this is it:
Settings - System - Reset - Reset all settings
Note: all your stuff is still there after reset. Only thing that happens is that it forgets your wlans, your fingerprints, face recognition, lock screen pass/pattern, and all kinds of logins and permissions on your apps. And your apps will jump out of folders and make a hell of a mess. But it worked splendidly for me, notifications are popping up as they should, when they should. Gave me a nice chance to re-arrange my apps even.
Happy thoughts to Huawei (Norway) for having customer service available on the phone, on a regular number, and answering within a few seconds.

I just did it today and it was a complete lost of time. In addition of losing all settings (bluetooth, Wifi, applications and folder on launcher,...) it was not helping with notifications: no Outlook, no WhatApps, no banking app... In other word, nothing, it was worse than before.
I will continue to test settings like controlling launching applications and exclude applications from battery optimization.

Is it just push notifications you're not getting or are messages not coming through at all until device unlocked/app opened? I've been trying all sorts, searched "data" in settings and stumbled upon "unrestricted data access" all apps are disabled on this. Hoping next few hours will show that's me sorted finally.
Once my screens been off 15 minutes, friends WhatsApp msgs only show 1 grey tick their end until I open WhatsApp again

Same issue here, whatsapp don't receive any message or call when in standby. For grind just show one
I am with CLT-L29 on stock 9.0.0.236 I noticed that recently (maybe after some recent system or app update) Whatsapp gets killed if the phone is on idle for longer time, say 20-30+ min.
I have the following set:
* Battery/App launch/Manage manually - all options enabled for Whatsapp (and only this did the trick in the past)
* Special access/Battery optimization/WhatsApp -> Don't Allow
* In Recent applications screen I have swiped Whatapp down and now it is with padlock and not being removed from recents when pressing the dust bin.
* Also did try to kill process "Power Genius" that I read is Huawei power manager - but I don't think this can be done without root
* Also did uninstall/fresh install of Whatsapp
Am I missing something?

Did you try rebooting after setting to manual in battery settings?
Hi, I had this for two days, after that it has started working perfect, wasn't just whatsapp for me either. Think some sort of learning system in emui is broken with regards to regularly used/priority apps. As you, I went through all menus.... Twice.

Twice?! I did it maybe more than 20 times!
Unfortunately it did not improve... I played with this over the last weekend, still yesterday evening and today morning - whatsapp web was saying no connection to the phone until I wake it up or open Whatsapp on the phone.
I will let it be for the time being (since out of ideas and don't want to reset the phone just for that). But it is driving me crazy since I use whatsapp for work as well and during the day (also in the evenings) I am checking every now and again if whatsapp is still running...
Same for work. I thought maybe it was to do with me using an always on music widget while I'm at work but it carried on working fine when I got home suddenly. God knows why then

Well, I mostly use whatsapp... At one point email notifications were also delayed a lot (Gmail), lately it is better...
I noticed that it mostly happens when the phone has been idle (out of the pocket sitting on the table) for long time 10-20 min.
Those were already set as suggested:
Settings -> Battery -> More battery settings -> Stay connected when device sleeps -> Enable
Settings -> Wireless & networks -> Data usage -> Data Saver -> Disable
Make sure you set it to manual and all 3 options are on.
Now go to settings-apps-apps-3 dots in the right corner top-special access-battery optimization - find whatsapp and press allowed.
After that reboot in recovery and delete cache.
If it doesn't work then sue Zucc
Oh yeah, reinstall whatsapp after doing the stuff you did. This will fix your issue
never had any issues with Huawei and WA. the only thing had to do was to select that WA will be handled manually (no auto battery management for this app) and to not kill the app after phone goes to sleep

I did try whatsapp reinstall already and cleared phones cash. But will clear the cash once more...
Most definitely - once the phone goes into deep(er) sleep whatsapp (and probably other background apps) get killed.
Also noticed yesterday that Gmail too, delayed an email (I received it 40 min after I got it on my desktop) until I started using the phone...

Hello everyone,
I just bought my new Realme X2 Pro from AliExpress a few days ago, and have been facing an annoying issue.
Although I have disabled Smart Power Saver and App Quick Freeze features in the settings, almost all the installed applications do not pop up any notification. I also have enabled notifications for each app, such as Yahoo email, Gmail, Mobile banking apps, Telegram, Imo, WhatAPP, etc., and have allowed them to always run in the background. I know it would drain the phone battery, but I thought doing these kinds of stuff would fix the notification problem. I did whatever the Realme website suggested and also what the community proposed.
This is my first experience with an unknown cellphone brand, and I have to put it to the experience.
I was wondering if anybody can advise me on a solution.
I have to mention that I did factory reset my phone thrice and also updated my phone to the latest OS version, but nothing changed!
Suggested solutions by Realme which did not work:
https://www.realme.com/in/support/kw/doc/FAQ1106
I would appreciate your valuable comments on this topic.
i did what you already said step 3) is the only addition, but its working perfectly fine here! make sure everything is updated.. or sadly factory reset.
1) long press the app then click on app info, or go to app info what ever is easy for you.
2) power saver change it to Allow background Running
This should solve the problem. if not the extra one to do is
3) your recent apps click on the three lines menu and lock the app.
i have 12GB ram so it does not affect anything.
this solved my problem
more to this i faced issues with whatsapp popup notification on the top the Bubble thing but after time it works, its mostly the Color OS is Really not working well with the phone.
sorry if you found this useless but i hear you!

I know that we can pin/lock the recent apps in the background, but after tapping on “close the recent apps icon,” even the pinned apps will be closed!! So, we habitually tap on that icon, and pinning the apps won't help us.
