[Q] Both SIM chips showing same network company - G 2014 Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting

Hi,
My mew Moto G has a strange issue, it is dual SIM, so I have two network companies "TIM" and "VIVO", both from Brazil.
The issue is, on the config screen I can see both (image attached) but when calling someone they are both with the same name, so I don`t know which is which (image attached).
Anyone knows how to solve this without formatting?
Thanks!

That's strange in 1st image both have blue color but in calling selection 1 blue and 1 green.try to change different color and identity SIM in calling selection using color.but reboot your phone.

Solved

Multiline icon to disable???

may i please you to recover a fckin secret how to get rid of that stupid multiline icon on today screen??? I really really cant find it. thanks a lot.
what multi-line icon?
Picture
Sorry, please find enclosed screen capture... thank you- i cant nothing after searching web, forum and registry in device... probably am blind
Have you got two numbers?
just 1
No i have just one number- this icon appeared immediately after first time phone installation. In phone settings there is a tab for it but i can just choose line 1 or 2, there is no other choice in that tab.
idea
Well i tried to look into SIM manager appl and in tools I can find "list of Own numbers" tool. In that are listed Voice line 1 and 2 and Data. But even if there is an erase option I cant dismiss line 2 (it looks like i can erase just information included in an option
What network are you with?
I would guess that they can disable line 2 with a sim update
Vodafone but device is HTC (not rebranded for vodafone...)
So its either something in the HTC rom... or its your sim thinking it has two lines. If its the latter, I am sure Voda can send it an update to clear the second line.
Just tried the following: went to HKLM\Drivers\BuiltIN\RIL\ALSService and changed the value from 1 to 0. Icon in the upper bar disappeared, but after a soft reset it´s there again.
I do have 2 different lines from my provider, however my second line has never worked on any PPC device.....and doesn´t on the TyTNII either - just showing that annoying symbol....
Sorry, i don't know how to get rid of that but i am searching for ages for the ALS support in WM5 Pocket PC Edition.
My carrier is E-Plus and they don't get it to work to enable the bit on the SIM card for ALS.
So every phone os which supports ALS normally checks the SIM card, thinks ALS is not supported and doesn't show the menu to switch the line.
That is very annoying.
In the smartphone edition you can "force" ALS by manually changing the reg key HKLM\System\State\Phone "MultiLineCapabilites" to "1".
I thought ALS is not supported at all in the Pocket PC edition.
I wonder if just exchanging the TAPI Provider (cell tsp) can do the trick.
Hi,
you were right - I tried that option without effect. Nevertheless thank you 4 help.
Same problem here =( Did you find any solution? Right now i think it is first: possible to find the icon in a dll and remove it, the second: To install Wisbar, though both of those are not very handy.
This thread, http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=346431 , might help you figure out what is going on. Good luck.

Ye, thanks, I know the cause, but the problem is, that "1" sign is shown even when only one line is used, but though second is supported. My cell operator does provide this feature, but I do not use it. So thats why it is actually annoying - just consuming space.
Second Line....
try using the # key depressed until line changes and dial out, you'll be shocked u have 2 lines, 2 numbers.... the issue will start when u try to dial ur second number... however u'll probably find you can text to it... it just wont accept incoming calls to it...
htc diamond fully support the multiline facility...

Notification Icon?

Hi,can anyone tell me what the notification number means on my phone (No.1).I have had my phone for over a month and it has been there since the first time i switched it on from new.I have been looking at other members homescreens and no one else seems to have this? Picture of my homecreen will show you what i mean
regards mick
I think it's indicating what Line you are using on your phone
Some operators like Orange give you the ability to have 2 phone numbers/lines on 1 simcard
Cannot understand why it would be that as i have had the same sim card/same network on PAYG for years in lots of other phones aswell, strange but i need to know how to get rid of it sick of seeing it now.
Well i tried a different sim card and the number is still in the notification bar! Anyone else have any idea what it could be?
Not got a clue pal, i've never seen that before.
Does factory resetting your phone get rid of it? If not it's probably sim-card related.

yes, can confirm that..although LG´s way to implement this in statusbar is very odd..
Found it under settings/additional settings there is an option to select line 1 or 2 but no option to remove it from notification area.By selecting line 2 it just says call settings error unexpected response from network. If i call my network would they be able to do anything to remove the double line setting if it has anything to do with my sim?
thanks to all replies
mick
to get rid of that, I would:
- edit frameworks
or
- make a morph
How do i do that? bit of a newbie still learning, phone is rooted and running Modaco's custom rom FR15 but any chance of explaining more on editing framework ?

[Q] VVM and Registry

Hello everybody,
I have a Lumia 820 dev and I want to activate Visual VoiceMail that is already activated by my operator (B&You - Bouygues Telecom) but the toggle switches is not present.
I don't want to flash my device that is developper unlocked.
I want to know if it is possible to enable this feature on my phone or if you know a way to edit the registry.
Thanks in advance,
Best regards
Believe me, we'd all love a way to edit the registry...
Odd that the switch wouldn't be present. Have you tried rebooting the phone? On mine, it showed up (and worked) as soon as I put the SIM in (which the phone was shut down during).

Did you make sure to dial into your voicemail after? It may be missing from some carriers' ROMs, but if it's there you usually need to dial into your voicemail after VVM is provisioned for the phone to try to set it up.

Sim card icon & on boot icon message

Hello fellows,
I have an HTC 626 from Verizon and I wanted to switch to the GSM network, just like anyone with a Verizon phone who wants more or better for their needs. I decided to switch to AT&T but I have a very annoying issue. I hope I can get around this without having to root my phone. The issue is that on boot there is a message that pops up telling me that there is a non Verizon Sim in the phone. Immediately afterward, an icon that looks like a Sim with a question mark in the bottom right of the Sim card icon will show in the notification bar and stay permanently. This is extremely annoying on boot and extremely annoying to have to live with and it's making me hide the notification bar. I know that this issue was brought up a number of years ago in forums but today many things have changed. That is why I am bringing it up here, besides for the facts that there was no definitive answer there. How can I make my phone not still be considered a Verizon phone or how to trick the phone? Is there a way, non-rooted to modify my notification bar? Maybe if I switch from Global mode it will solve this (but what apn will work). Experts, please tell me what needs to be done/what can be done to solve my issue. I appreciate any help from anyone and I thank you beforehand for your help. Have an enjoyable weekend.

No mobile network connection, no IMEI

Hello,
my Xiaomi Mi 9T Pro running on stock MIUI Global 12.5.1.0 (RFKEUXM) can now suddenly not connect to my mobile carrier.
I hope somebody can help me out.
Some facts and stuff I have tried:
The connectivity icon on the top is just grayed out now and shows an X.
But that was not the case in the morning today.
At that time it showed full bars, but not the usual 4G text and the mobile internet did not work. After some attempts written below it is now just gray.
Mobile internet and cell service do not work.
I have rebooted multiple times.
The IMEI for both SIM slots is shown as 0.
No baseband version is shown.
(I am sure that this was also not the case early in the morning.)
I have never installed a custom ROM on this device, bootloader was never unlocked.
The SIM card is correctly inserted and the phone number is shown in the settings for SIM slot 1.
Trying SIM slot 2 (incl. reboot) did not fix the problem.
The SIM status shows that the service is not available, also on the top left when the phone is locked. ("Dienst nicht verfügbar" in German locale.)
Trying the SIM in another phone works, which I think makes it not a carrier problem.
Trying another SIM in my phone also does not work.
I unfortunately had dropped the phone days before, but no damage visible at all (phone case FTW).
Also it worked without problems, which makes me hope this is not hardware related.
WLAN works, so internet connectivity is possible.
Phone is out of warranty.
I did search for other threads with similar issues, but they all seem to be related to having flashed custom ROMs and then losing the IMEI.
Does somebody have any idea how I can fix this?
Thank you!
Edit: I just remembered/saw that I did do the "Xiaomi Service Framework" system app update to version 6.0.6-G yesterday night, maybe that caused the problem? Currently researching on how to roll that back. If somebody knows, please do tell.

Did you check Settings, SIM cards and Mobile networks, SIM 1 (if SIM is in Slot 1)
Do you have Turn on? If Turned Off, then do Turn On
If not, ie if it does not recognize the SIM card, then it looks like a hardware issue
Assuming, as you say, that SIM card is ok, correctly inserted, and that phone runs only the stock firmware - hence no root, no custom ROM, no custom Recovery (that user could possibly wipe partitions), etc
Maybe, some connection got loose and later disconnected completely
Thanks for you answer.
I am sure the SIM is inserted correctly and working. It's been in there probably for years now.
Don't know if you saw my update above about "Xiaomi Service Framework". Checking that right now. Maybe I should just do a factory reset.
What I have noticed now a couple of times is that the phone crashes and reboots, just now happened when I connect for USB debugging or before when trying to enter the SIM pin after a reboot, ...

But if the phone does not recognize the SIM card, it would not ask for the SIM pin

Agreed, therefore I am sure the SIM is recognized. The phone even shows my number and the SIM has the carrier name.

If the carrier name is recognized, then IMEI cannot be NULL
Very strange
Try to play with Preferred network type setting
Maybe something really got wrong with the updated Framework

Oh, I though the IMEI is device specific and should be there even without a SIM inserted.

AFAIK too - but without IMEI it could not attach to the network and therefore cannot show carrier name
Hence strange, and/or the contradictory descriptions/observations

Ohh, sry there is a misunderstanding.
The carrier name is only shown as the NAME of the SIM card (I guess it is stored on there or the phone has remembered it). But there is NO connection or carrier name shown in the top notification bar.

Yeah but you still have unknown IMEI - that's something that should have not happened
Anyway, go to Preferred Network Type and try with Prefer 4G, Prefer 3G or Prefer 2G - maybe, with the updated Framework, something went wrong with the bands support or so
If it wouldn't help, then I'm out of the ideas how to solve
So I did do a hard reset now, and it worked for a short time (IMEI is back), then it doesn't again, and ... just now again. It really is not stable.
Thx. I will post updates when I know more.
Unfortunately the phone keeps crashing and rebooting when using it. It just freezes and restarts, and sometimes it takes a long time to restart (seems like a crash loop).
Twice I also saw some graphic artifacts (bright magenta and green) on a small part of the screen.
I don't think this is just a mobile network connection problem anymore.
BTW: I have installed an older version of Xiaomi Service Framework (also the hard reset reverted it to a much older version), but that did not help.
Hey!!
I hope you doing great
Did you manage to solve the issue?
@Fawad Hussain
Unfortunately I could not solve it, so I am not able to use the device anymore.
Btw, as far as I can see there is no current smartphone without a notch/punch hole which is not gigantic (ASUS Rog Phone 6).

Same thing happened to me, I have managed to get it thanks to this guy in the video which I don't understand what he is saying but I just followed his steps, so if you are looking for a solution this video is.
But my device is not rooted and bootloader is locked, I tried ways but don't know how to root it or unlock bootloader properly
