So recently I flashed HyperDrive 18.1 and the masterpatch that goes with it (and the 4.4.2 kernel of course). Everything works fine on my phone, and the predicted stock camera app malfunction didn't bother me at all. But tonight I realized that I was having trouble receiving MMS. I searched for anything I could find, and tried all the potential fixes from people that were having problems sending them, but nothing works. It's on Net10, which is on AT&T's network. I double checked the APN settings, tried rebooting, enabling dev mode, wiping davlik and cache, toggling airplane and wifi, checking to make sure it was trying to connect to the right kind of network, with no result. I'm using the dark messenger, and I'm wondering if there's a way to flash a different HyperDrive and/or stock messenger so I can try it instead. I really like this one though, and I'd like to get it to work if I can. Anyone have any suggestions?

Okay so over the past few days I've been flashing a bunch of diff roms to see what I like. I've had a constant problem with getting mms to work on any of them. Well I was doing all of this from home and always had wireless to use for data, hence I used it.
Tonight, however, after flashing a few diff roms I found out I didn't have a data connection at all. Tried a couple diff cm6 nightlies and the blackmod of cm6, and after flashing the only way I can access the internet is through wi fi. Otherwise I got nothing.
Sooo, maybe my mms problem was just this all along or maybe not. Anyway, what could be the cause of losing all data connectivity. Phone says it's connected in status. And the widgets somehow magically update. But the browser, market, mms, etc don't work at all.
I'm gonna flash the 0.7 aospmod and see what happens. Any help you can offer is appreciated.
And yes, I might just be an idiot. Forgive me.
Just flashed aospmod v.07 and same ****. No data connectivity.
What gives? I feel stupid.
a guess
possible APN settings issue, did you flash back to a 2.1 sense rom, and try an Over The Air activation and update profile?
I honestly don't know but thats a guess... I use my phone with pageplus (verizon) and editing my APN settings is what fixed it for me.
Ruu. Started fresh.
Everything seems to be okay.
Thanks.
This happens on a lot of roms. I've found to fix it all u have to do is toggle on and off either or both airplane mode and moblie network.
I found having to open browser and put in my cell number b4 sprint data would work, also prl update works for me.

I had this happen to me (including all bars showing and things refreshing) and spent several hours working on it only to determine the only solution was to RUU and start over....but its faster this time around because you have nandroids....just flash one after you re root from before you lost data (if you have one) and if not, back up your apps and data with titanium backup or mybackup pro...
(I had tried all the things listed in the previous posts....not saying they wont work for you, but in my case, they didn't)

Hi, I recently updated my Samsung Ativ S T899M phone to windows phone 8.1 via the developers preview app. I use the phone on the Telus network here in Canada. After I did the update I'm no longer able to enable wifi tethering. When I attempt to activate it, I get the following error: "Connection not shared - There's no cellular data connection to share right now. Check your cellular settings and signal, and try again.".
My APN settings are correct for Telus, I'm getting internet and am able to send and receive MMS. Does anyone know if this issue can be resolved? And if not, Is there a possibility of reverting back to the original rom I had installed?
We don't have base ROMs for the T899M, sadly. If your phone is interop-unlocked though, I'm working on a fix for the tethering issue here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/windows-phone-8/help/help-fix-internet-sharing-feature-t2843391. If it worked for you *before* 8.1 and doesn't now, that would be weird (and I'd appreciate you completing the process listed there).
You can also try flashing one of @-W_O_L_F-'s custom CSCs. They aren't full ROMs, but they still allow us to fix/change a lot of stuff. Some people have reported that they fix Internet Sharing.
For sure, I will follow your process! I'll let you know how it goes!
Fixed
Hey GoodDayToDie, sorry for the private message earlier. I managed to flash wolfs CSC file and I can confirm that it indeed fixes the internet sharing issue. Thanks again, and I'll follow your instructions on the other page to get the information you need.
I have this phone as well. It came from bell and it is unlocked, I currently am using it on koodo. Everything appears to work okay for me, even tethering via WiFi.
I am having other small problems however,
Whenever I reset my phone the ringtone goes back to default rather than staying on the custom
If I select 3g only it still connects to LTE which is horrible reception where I am located.
Enabling, and then disabling Airplane mode causes my phone to go all sluggish, only way to fix is to reboot.
Any one know of fixes for these issues in 8.1 DP on the t899m? would wolfs custom csc fix these issues?
I feel like this is probably an easy fix, but I cant seem to figure it out. My phone wont recieve MMS UNTIL I make/receive a phone call then i get all my MMS messages at once. Im on LTE/CDMA with data off and wifi on when this occurs (not sure if this occurs with wifi off yet) . Only once did i recieve an MMS without a phone call and that was at a random time 4 hours after the MMS was sent from my friend (no settings or data connectivity were changed within this time)
Try using an alternate messaging app
Manually set MMS APN
Try clearing cache in recovery
Flash a system image without ad blocking (if you are on one of those)
Make sure you haven't grenified or otherwise disabled anything having to do with phone, text, email, etc.
That's all I can think of without knowing more.

thanks, I tried setting an apn, clearing cache, and nothing greenified. I know it works with adblocking because it has in the past, and I am partial to textra (which has a bunch of MMS debugging options anyway that i tried too) . Anyways, It probably has to do with me messing with radio and IMS settings. I manually set them back to their original values but Im thinking things just got tangled up by switching back and forth cause it still didnt work. Reflashing entire build ended up being the solution

Nice - I guess my suggestions didnt make too much sense given the issue, but just figured I would throw some things out there. Glad you got it fixed
towelroot:safestrap:stock rooted 4.4.2:minor wanam xposed tweaks
I replaced the digitizer on my wife's note3. BUT... it appears that mobile network is not connecting.
Here are the symptoms:
BIG ONE: time and date will not auto update.
phone calls work fine.
wifi works: Browser can connect to internet and I finally got a bad cert warning. Apps like facebook and ebay will not work (I assumed cuz of certificate issues).
I wiped cache and dalvik.
I am trying to avoid wiping data and having her start fresh... (ie me make the phone like it was before
factory reset fixes issue. But I'm still trying to find a way to avoid having to start from 0.
Have you checked your APN settings? I would do some googling and find some good APN settings, then add a new one and switch to that, see if it makes a difference. Beyond that you might try uninstalling Xposed for now and seeing if that helps. Is the ROM installed in the stock slot, or a Safestrap slot? I've heard of non-stock slot installation causing some problems.
Just throwing some ideas out here, hope you can get it figured out.
TL;DR
Upgraded Android to latest on T-Mobile, only SSL connections load. Also can't send MMS messages. Factory reset after the upgrade, still having issues. No idea what causes it, but rebooting the phone sometimes makes the issues go away for a while (might as well be running Windows). The issues seem to happen at random but all happen at once and don't go away once they start.
I have an odd issue that after a little bit of Googling, I haven't been able to find anything on (outside of app developers forgetting the internet permission in their manifest file). I held off on upgrading my phone from 5.0.1 AOC9 for a long time because I had rooted it right after the release and I just never got around to it when others confirmed they could root newer versions. Everything was working until I decided to use Smart Switch to upgrade from AOC9 to the latest 5.1.1 DOJC. After the upgrade I used Odin to flash TWRP and Unikernel for root and it worked fine for a few hours until I noticed I could no longer send MMS messages (receiving them works perfectly fine). I also noticed certain apps would tell me I had no network connection and I knew this was wrong because apps like Facebook were still working perfectly fine on 4G and my WiFi. Eventually I started clicking links from Facebook and noticed some would load and others wouldn't. It took a few links to notice that anything that wasn't loading over an SSL connection would give the message "This site can't be reached. $SITE refused to connect. ERR_CONNECTION_REFUSED"
After all of those issues started happening I finally got pissed enough to factory reset, forgot about FRP and had to factory reset again using Smart Switch. I flashed TWRP/Unikernel again and I'm right back to having the issues. Has anyone ever come across anything like this before? I'm getting frustrated enough that I might just swap out the sim and use my G3 for a while until I can sort this out. If there is any kind of log I can post that will help I can post that as well. I tried using adb logcat while attempting to open a site that fails, but I didn't see anything that looked useful. Just calls to my keyboard and chrome opening.
EDIT: Completely forgot to try pinging. I am able to ping any normal HTTP site from a terminal emulator. They're all reachable from my phone. I came across a post from a Comcast customer with a similar issue, although not for Android specifically. The work around was to connect to a VPN service, so I also tried this. Still no luck.
